124 Chapter 124

" All I can say is that I didn't do it intentionally and I am sorry for that. " Was the reply from the young mage.

It was true he had recruited the man for his talents. He wished to utilize him to perhaps recreate some of the inventions from earth. It had been a spur of the moment decision really.

He was minding his own business when the man had brashly introduced himself and started talking to him. It was him who had invited Aaron to his house. Yes, he got a little curious so he did went along with it and was indeed amazed by the man's knowledge and skills and had asked him to join him at the central cities.

He was supposed to leave a message at the association for him incase he came looking. He forgot about it. But he also never expected the man to come so soon.

It should have taken him much longer than the few months it took him. He never expected the man to sell everything he had to use a few gates to save himself some time.

What did he expect from doing that? Sure Aaron could feed him and provide a living now because he was more than rich now and had a good income source. But that wasnt the case initially.

What would have happened if he hadn't got rich? How would he have supported him than?

Sure food wouldn't have been a problem, but what about the resources required for the research they had in mind. Where would they find that?

What he had done was negligence, but the man was to blame for his foolishness.

Every mage or even scientists knew that in order to achieve something, patience was the key.

After what the man had done, he hardly believed how he had come up with so many things.

Moreover he had the gall to come to his place with Rogan and blame him outright.

No, Aaron wouldn't stand for that. He would accept the blame where he was at fault, but he wouldn't accept the blame for the foolhardily of the man called Devito.

May be he had gotten a little arrogant. He had every right to be. Here he was young and successful. People trying to recruit him and he himself had more inroads in magical spell work than most his peers.

He would have perhaps agreed all of it was his fault earlier, and may be it was that arrongance speaking, but he refused to be blamed for what he wasn't responsible for.

" How can you say its not your fault? You asked me to come and I have come all the way. You were supposed to inform the mage association about me. It was because of that I was humiliated on a daily basis for so many days. "

" It wasn't my fault that you sold off your assets. I never asked you to do it. And I never thought you would actually use gates to hurry along. Even I didn't pay to use the gates on my journey here. " Replied Aaron in an unhappy tone.

" You are supposed to be the adult here, how come you do something as idiotic and blame them on me. "

" I only did what I did because you said we would work together. It wasn't my fault if I trusted you. "

" So let me get it straight, you ran after a young boy, sold off your assets, spent the money on gates. You were unfazed while doing all that. But when you had to spend a few days looking for me, it all ended up being my fault? "

" Yes it was yours. I was almost in a position to beg. " The man Devito was in thrall of what he deemed as righteous anger.

" What you are forgetting is that you stand in my house right now. Yes, I said I would work with you, but do you have any proof for it? What if I refuse to work with you now, which I am considering since now I see have seen what kind of a man you are. "

" And do you know what the punishment is for slandering a mage working for the mage association? " Aaron was angry himself and laid it out straight for Devito.

That statement where Aaron said he would consider not working with him, that line hit home and took the wind out of Devito.

Once he was led to meet Aaron, his hope had rekindled. Aaron had recognized him and even apologized at first for his mistake. But Devito was angry. His honour not satisfied. He wanted the boy to apologise for his current situation, to which he had refused. This made Devito even angrier and he indeed forgotten that the boy could just refuse. That thought didn't even cross his mind.

" If the two of you have finished your shouting match, will you listen to me? " Rogan's statement earned him a glare from Aaron.

" Since both of you refused to reply, I will take it as a yes. "

" Now, Aaron here did neglect to inform the association about you. For that he is sorry. "

" And you Devito have come here at the request of Aaron. But what you had done is actually isn't his fault since he never asked you to sell your assets. "

Devito was about to interrupt when he was stopped by a raised hand from Rogan.

" Your situation is your fault but perhaps you were just too eager in persuit for knowledge. Blaming you for that hardly feels right. "

" From what I gather, both of you want to work together. "

" I will once again take the silence as yes."

" What I suggest is a contract through the mage association. Its a wonderful little thing, although it is a little expensive, but it is binding, even for a mage. I will even stand in as a witness. "

" It will provide both of you a reason to trust each other enough once again. "

" Good Idea? Let's move towards and association and sort out the details. "
