121 Chapter 121

First match for Aaron was scheduled at 15 days from now. He didn't know who his opponent was going to be.

He didn't knew what kind of training he could manage in such a short notice, so decided he would just use what he knew.

Physically he was fit enough to maybe Dodge a couple of simple spells if needed. His dexterity had saved his life a couple of times facing those Forest mages. So, he had kept up his physical workouts to stay in shape.

He lacked a strong shield like the elementalists had, so he had to rely on his physique more than others.

His bodyguards proved more than adapt to help with his physical training. They were more than impressed at his stamina and his physical condition. Rarely had they seen a mage who focussed on physical training at all.

They were particularly impressed with Aaron's sword work. They believed his skills on the level of a beginner warrior. But he lacked the strength behind his attacks and the experience of using it in live battle.

But on a good day, he did manage to give them a workout if they didn't use their superior strength.

Even with all that, he still had some time on his hands and what better way for a mage to spend his time on spells than anything else.

<Scene break>

" As we have told you before Mr. Devito, we don't give out information about mages to anyone who is not a part of our association. "

" And no, you couldn't be a part of it. I think I have answered that question more than enough times."

" I would like to tell you to not test my patience anymore. I will have you arrested and you may end up spending rest of your life in a prison cell. "

" The only reason you were even allowed to enter the Association building is because of the letter of credibility you hold issued by a mage. But the mage who wrote it didnt leave any instructions to us. "

It wasn't the first time Devito was told this. He couldn't believe his rotten luck.

He had fell for that young mages's trick. He was charmed by a young boy almost half his age.

I will leave instructions at Tulip city he had said. He was a fool to believe him. He should have known better than to trust a mage. They were all the same.

How stupid he was to sell all his assets and working inventions at the first price he was offered.

He had enough to use a few gates to cut down the longer part of his journey. In terms of luggage he only had a few set of clothes and some his notes at hand. He had arranged for some more to reach Tulip city by road. But that will take quite a while. He didn't realize his mistake than.

He had thought he wouldn't need many things nor he would require much money to get by in Tulip city. Such had been the promise of that young devil.

He had thought there was finally someone who had appreciated his talent after such a long time. Little did he know than that he was nothing more than a little prank for a mage. Maybe he had a good laugh about it.

He should have realised it sooner. It was too good to be true. Just how many people were there who were trying to make new things. He knew a couple in his own city. They even sat down and tried to exchange ideas a few times. Just how many would be there across the continent? And out them only he was picked by a mage? Such things didn't happen in reality.

He had reached Tulip city a week ago. Tired on his feet, he had hoped to meet the young mage as soon as possible. He was shocked at the prices of the inns at Tulip city, but he thought it was only for a day.

Day turned to week and he had no leads. His finance wouldn't last him long. He didn't have enough to make a return trip. And what would he do after making a trip back home? He had sold everything he had.

It wasn't that he was employed somewhere or had a business. He had a good inheritance and had been living off it. Now, he had nothing.

He was broken in this city of mages. He knew the odds of him able to feed himself in the upcoming days would be a struggle.

He might be forced to beg, he didn't had any other talent than to persue science. Some of the smaller inventions he was able to sell before, who would want it in a city full of mages.

And even if people were ready to buy it, he didn't have a workshop or the materials to make them. He didn't believe a mage would help him again.

Maybe if he went to prison he wouldn't need to worry about being fed. He knew these were dark thoughts, but he couldn't help himself.

" I had made a very long journey. Just let me talk to mage Aaron once. I will go after that. " He still tried to voice his request to the mage. May be it was his subconcious which made his hold his tongue on the curses he wanted to yell.

Aaron that was the name of that boy mage. He would never forget that boy who had destroyed his life.

He wouldnt return to the mage association after today. He knew that. But nothing could stop him from waiting in front of the gates.

If the boy was to show up, he would demand his answers. Maybe he would be punished, but at least the weight would be off his heart.

Yes, thats what he needed to do.
