109 Chapter 109

Aaron had been busy with his research and finding answers to question which had left him confused.

Why did magic worked the way it did? He had borrowed a lot of books from the library. Read a lot of popular theories and some which the mage society said were the ramblings of senior old men.

Aaron was sure about one thing though. All of the theories presented which were widely accepted, always had exceptions which no one could explain.

If a theory was complete and valid, it should even explain why the exceptions arise.

For example, gravity is an universal law. It remains constant no matter which part of the known universe you are at. Some may argue that acceleration due to the gravitational force varies from place to place. But that's explained easily. The size and mass of the object is directly responsible for the gravitational pull.

So, earth has a stronger gravitational pull than moon, but less than that of the sun. But the gravitational constant known as 'G', it remains constant irrespective of where you are.

But magic didn't have a single theory which had valid reasoning towards explaining the anomalies within.

He couldnt open a space gate within a person, but a person could pass through his gate? Shouldnt the will of the person be able to destroy gate as soon as he stepped in it?

A continuous stream of magical fire wouldnt work, but a fire ball would? It was after all born of magic.

There were a lot of similar conflicting cases, but no answer.

From all the experimental data he had read upon, he was sure that even magic followed the rules set by nature.

Magical fire was hot, you couldn't make cold fire. Metal mages couldn't turn iron into gold. Life mages couldn't raise the dead.

As for his own experiments, he noticed that although he could trap a person using his space prison (that's the name he came up with after a lot of deliberation), he couldn't crush them like he could a ball of paper.

As he grew confident with his ability, he thought it was time he raised the bar.

"I don't think I would be fighting many warriors in the future. Infact I don't think I will be fighting much in the near future. But in case I have to, I would like to test some of my skills against your aura, if it's alright with you?"

"Sure. It's not an issue. Infact I have been wanting to test it myself. I have faced a lot of mages in my life, but never have I ever been restrained like that."

After the two of them agreed, they resumed the experiment.

They decided the first test would be that Aaron would create a prison, the warrior would use his Aura and see what happens. In case anyone of them sense a danger, they would immediately stop channeling their power.

Second experiment would be to see what happens when the warrior is already channeling his Aura. Does his prison takes shape at all?

After a few rounds of successful testing, the results were within Aaron's expectations.

The results were the same, the aura could only provide a little wriggling space to the warrior. Nothing else. He was still trapped, just in a more comfortable manner to say.

All the experiments and the knowledge of theories from both sides of the barrier had formed a all new theory in Aaron's mind.

Aaron believed that be it what people called will of a sentient being, be it magic of a mage or the aura of a warrior, they were universal in nature. And like all forces of nature, they had a relation on how they effected each other.

Some were stronger than others while even the stronger force had a weakness to one of the element of an opposing force.

There were no conclusive evidence mind you, just a seed of a theory. Aaron didn't believe that he might be able to solve the problem no mage had ever been able to, but may be perhaps he could increase his own understanding of things.

It maybe have been a hasty conclusion from Aaron's side, but he had an inkling that the more natural laws it abided, the stronger the resulting spell.

And perhaps there was a reason why some classes of mage had true associated to their name.

Aaron had bid the warrior farewell. He did all the tests he could run. Only think left for him to do was practice. He needed to increase his efficiency of the spell. Right now, it took a lot time to cast and he couldnt maintain it for too long. It was impractical to use in a fight. But it could be solved with enough practice and he wasn't looking for a fight anyways.

There was another experiment Aaron had in mind. It was perhaps better if he did it alone.

He cast a simple prison on an apple. He held a dagger and used it to strike the apple. The dagger sort of hit an invisible wall and couldnt reach the apple. His prison didn't only trap someone, it also provided some protection.

But something he had not expected happened when he used an atomic edged dagger. The dagger had cut across the prison and hit the apple. Aaron doubted his eyes, but he repeated the experiment a few times. It wasn't a trick of the eyes. He could see the dagger leave a trail as it cut the prison. It was like a cut which healed fast. The ramifications of this was massive. If what Aaron thought held true, he could finally have something he had been longing for a long, long time.
