106 Chapter 106

Aaron felt as the dark clouds looming over his head due to what Azo and Rogan had told him give way to sunshine after his visit to the Mercenary association.

It has been a fruitful outing this time. He got his test subject, got a deal for himself and got bodyguards for a lifetime.

Now that he thought about it, didn't the two body guards would eventually be his test subjects at no further costs? He should make it a priority to have good enough relationship to them.

As he went back to his inn. He found a missive from the Mage association waiting for him.

The Mage Association was really short on patience regarding such a valuable artifact. They had asked him to report as soon as possible and begin with training the mages on how to make a atomic blade. A team of senior space mages had been selected to act as his students.

But that was for tomorrow.

For today he had a pressing concern. He couldn't live out of an inn forever. And now with the sudden influx of money and a source of income to maintain it, he needed a place of his own.

He didn't really know many people in the city. He hated how few he had come in contact it. He decided he would try to work on this aspect of his and build good relations with people. Just a person like Rogan alone was such a help, imagine having more like him alone.

"You need a place of your own? Where do you plan on getting one? Inner city or outer city?" asked Rogan.

"It doesn't really matter to me. But as I have been advised time and time again to maintain a low profile, how about a place in the outer city? I do need a large house. "

" Outer city might be a good idea. If you need a big place in the inner city, it would cost a tremendous sum of money. Plus they don't sell the place in the inner city. They only give it to you on lease. And it needs to be renewed every 5 years with 1.5 times the price of the previous lease. You can perhaps understand how expensive it is."

"Okay, I know someone who deals with properties in the outer city. But I can't come with you right now. Is that ok? "

"It's absolutely ok Mr. Rogan. You have done a lot for me. I think I can handle this by myself. Thank you. "

Aaron really meant what he said. Rogan had done a lot for him without really expecting anything back. He couldnt be shameless enough to ask for more.

If it was on earth, Aaron might have wanted someone to come with him if he was looking for a house. He didn't knew the price of the estate would be worried about getting ripped off.

But here things were different. Being a mage made him different. It was a big deference to people looking to cheat others. People didn't do that to a mage.

With that confidence, he strode to the place Rogan had mentioned.

As he entered the place, seeing robe he was straight away guided to the owner of the place. The owner was infact a young man. Maybe he was the son of the actual owner. But it didn't really matter to Aaron.

"Hello Sir mage, how may I help you?" the man was composed even in the presence of a mage. It looked like he had experience dealing with mages. He was recommended by a mage after all.

"I looking for a house. Do you have any place you recommend?" Aaron asked straightway.

" What kind of a place you require? Any specific requirement or location you have in mind? The more detailed you are about what you want, the easier it will be for us to find one for you."

"Well, it should be big enough. Privacy is important as well. Open spaces in the compound, should have separate quarters to host say special guests? " Aaron actually wanted a big place. He wanted to test his spells and wanted to have enough space to build a workshop. He didn't only have magic on his mind.

It will be good if he found a place which would last him a while. He didn't want to keep changing his house. He had been drifting around for more than a year now. He truly wanted to have a settled life for while now.

"I think I have a perfect place for you. " Said the man.

The man personally took Aaron to a mansion located a little outside the city.

"This area holds a number of mansions. They are usually built for the mages. They are the kind who usually stay away from the politics of the inner city and chose a semi reclusive life. It offers wide spaces usually absent in the main city and a peaceful and private environment.

He guided to Aaron to a mansion with a big metal Gate. As the carriage move in, Aaron could see a well paved path with lead to the main building.

"It's a new mansion not more than 5 years old. The owner left because he got a better job at another city. The main building has 6 bed rooms. There are guest quarters which has 5 rooms and servant quarters which could hold up to 30 servants. "

" Additionally there is a guard room which could house some guards for you. If you want to accommodate more people, you could have few extra rooms built in the back. There is lot of space there. "

Aaron took a look at the place. It was as the man said, a really good residence. The whole compound was surrounded by a high wall so that outsiders didn't know what was happening inside. That was another thing Aaron wanted. He really didn't want things to leak out and of course security was a factor.

"So, what's the price for this place? " Asked Aaron at last.

" As you are mage, I won't quote a unreasonable price. But I have my expenses as well, so I won't sell it without profit as well. " Aaron liked what the man said. A mage or not, he still needed to run his business. And it wasn't that mages were rare in Tulip city. If he went about dealing without profit, he would soon be out of his own house.

"It would take a sum of 200,000 gold coins to buy this place. And please understand this is a reasonable price. You might think it is expensive, but it is not. Tulip city is just too expensive. " Aaron decided to trust the man. It wasnt expensive in any case for the current Aaron.

"Alright, I don't have any problem with the price. But I need you to do something. "

" What do you need?" The man asked a little tentatively. He hoped that the boy didn't demand what he was thinking of. He couldn't really decline a mage now, could he?

Aaron saw the man being a little agitated. He didn't dwell on it and continued to say what he wanted.

"I am comparatively new to this city. This is also the first time I am buying a property. I want you to arrange servants and guards for this place. I don't think I should need to speak on the issue of them being trustworthy."

Aaron could see the tension easing out of the man. What did he think Aaron wanted?

"Ah I see. It's just that. Of course I could arrange for that. There is one thing though. I could find the most trustworthy people, but you have to understand no one can guarantee that they will infact be trustworthy for sure. No one can give a guarantee on human nature. But I believe working for a mage usually keep people in line unless they are fools or working as a spy. "

" If you still leavd it upon me, I would try to get the people to the best of my ability. "

Aaron understood what the man meant. He might be young, but he wasn't a fool. He knew a mage may through a tantrum later for things like this. So came clean beforehand avoiding risks.

Aaron didn't think he could do better than what the man said and didn't really want to go to Rogan again for help. It was embarrassing enough to go to him each time he wanted something done.

"Get me what you can. And do you take mage stones as payment?"
