38 Blood Transfusion

Gaia walked over to the unconscious Roman never once taking her eyes off his severely wounded body. As she got near, Hancock who was still beside Roman, stood up on shaking legs and stood in front of his body.

"What do you want with him?!"

When she saw Hancock protecting her from her son despite her fear, Gaia's opinion of the young girl shot up, but she didn't let it show!

"Do you really think that you can stop me from doing what I want?!"

Hancock knew that this monstrous woman was too strong to be stopped but she still refused to balk.

Seeing the look of resolution in Hancock's eyes, Gaia let out a soft chuckle as she removed her mask!

When Hancock saw the beautiful face of the monstrous woman she couldn't help but let out an involuntary gasp.

"Au… Aunt Gaia?!"

"It's been a while little Hancock."

"What are you doing here?! Did Empress Gloriossa send you? Have you returned to the Kuja Pirates?!"

"Haha, you're asking too many things at once! I haven't returned to the Kuja Pirates, I came today to pick up my son after getting little Mihawk's distress signal!"

Hearing someone refer to someone as powerful Mihawk as "Little Mihawk" was enough to stun Hancock but when she remembered the strength Gaia showed and the difference in age, she didn't think there was anything wrong with calling him little. But then she remembered the other part of what she said…

"YOUR SON?!"

Gaia let out a chuckle as she gestured towards Roman.

Seeing who she was pointing at, Hancock failed to hold in her surprise!

"He's your son?!"

Gaia nodded before Hancock asked.

"What about him?"

As Hancock asked that she pointed towards Orion who was still unconscious in the building.

"That's my nephew."

"I thought they said they were brothers?"

Gaia replied with a smile.

"Sworn brothers. Like their fathers."

"Their fathers? Who are the fathers of these two little monsters?!"

Gaia smiled mysteriously as she walked passed the still shocked Hancock! As she stood over Roman examining his injuries she subconsciously released a dense killing intent as she saw the 4 bullet holes.

"Those bastard nobles… See if I don't slaughter a path to Mary Geoise!"

Feeling that horrifying aura, Hancock was dripping with cold sweat as she looked down at the floor with guilt.

"Aunty Gaia. It's all my fault, he got injured protecting me!"

As she said that she burst out in tears as she remembered the smiling face of the boy who risked his life to save hers.

After saying that, Hancock's sisters ran forward scared that Gaia would hurt their sister for being the reason of Roman's injuries.

"It wasn't Hancock's fault. Roman accidentally saw the slaves tattoo on her back…"

Sandersonia rapidly rattled off exactly what happened to lead them to this point in case she got angry before the end of the story.

Before she could finish the story Gaia raised her hand to stop her rambling!

"It's not your fault. These two brats are always finding a way to get themselves in to trouble!"

Suddenly a weak voice could be heard.

"Roman…"

When Gaia turned around, she was shocked to see Ori wobbling as he moved towards their position dragging a giant sword in his hand!

When Gaia turned around Ori saw her face.

"Aunty Gaia?! Roman?!"

Gaia let out a soft yet reassuring smile and nodded as she said softly.

"He'll be fine!"

Hearing that Ori, smiled as he let himself fall unconscious!

As she saw his body falling Gaia vanished from her original position and appeared directly in front of Orion, catching him before he fell.

[He must've been relying on his will power to stay awake and drag his broken body to find Roman! He really is something else!]

As she caught him she examined his injuries. Other than over exhaustion, his body was covered in bruises and he had several fractures and broken bones.

[They two were really put through the ringer this time. Although they're not as bad as Rome's, Ori's injuries are still severe.]

She placed Ori down next to Roman and walked over to Mihawk picking his body up and placing it next to the 2 boys.

After doing that she turned to a certain unassuming building.

"You can come out, I won't hurt you!"

As she said that a silver haired girl who looked about 12 walked out from behind a building. The girl had silver hair and scarlet eyes. She was dressed in a dark hooded robe with the hood down.

She walked towards the group with her left hand covering her right shoulder which had a big hole in it but surprisingly wasn't bleeding. Despite the hole in her shoulder she was still holding on tight to her crimson long bow.

When the 3 sisters looked at Shaya who was approaching, they all hung their heads in shame. She had saved them repeatedly, but they had treated her like a sacrificial pawn.

Gaia saw the looks of shame and guilt on the 3 sisters but didn't look too much into it. She looked back at the silver haired girl and said with a warm smile.

"Little Mihawk told me how you went out of your way to protect the boys. I wanted to thank you on their behalf."

Shaya hastily shook her head as she said.

"They were the ones who saved me, I barely helped them at all."

Gaia simply smiled before looking back at Roman with a frown.

[He's lost a lot of blood and moving him now would only make him worse. He needs a blood transfusion ASAP. Even though he could survive long enough for Walter to get here, if he has to wait till then with these injuries it could affect his future.]

Seeing Gaia looking so intensely at Roman, Shaya could guess what was going through her head.

"Errm, I think I can help save Roman!"

"You?!"

"I ate the blood fruit! If we can find a match I can perform a blood transfusion."

When she heard that Gaia's face went from one of shock, to excitement to a frown as she remembered Roman's blood type!

"Even if you can perform the blood transfusion, Roman's blood type is AB-. The only person I know who shares his blood type is his father!"

Shaya frowned as she heard that.

"I could use my ability to prevent him from losing any more blood, but I'd only be able to do it for 2 hours max."

Gaia looked at Roman as she considered her options.

[Walter and Marcus are in Baterilla in South Blue. Even if they sped back at their fastest speed it'd still take them over 6 hours to get here.

If I took Roman and Shaya over to meet them part way while Shaya focused on keeping Roman from losing any more blood we might just make it.

But Walter and Marcus are in Baterilla making sure nothing unexpected happens when Rouge gives her child to Garp… They can't afford to be distracted now!

But then Roman…]

While Gaia was going over her options Hancock spoke out softly.

"I'm AB-… Roman could have my blood!"

When she heard that Gaia was shocked by the luck and also by her choice. As a former Kuja warrior she knew exactly what it meant to give blood to an outsider, especially a male. She looked deeply at Hancock as she asked.

"Are you sure?"

Hancock nodded as her eyes showed no hesitation. She looked at Roman's body determined to save his life.

[This is the least I can do for you!]

Hancock looked back up at Shaya and said.

"I'm sorry for everything I put you through before but please help me do this."

Shaya nodded with a smile not seeming to mind about what happened before.
