1 Chapter One

Amanda's P. O. V

Today I'm going for a interview at COC, center of coding, this is a huge opportunity for me since I'm only 16.

It all started when I signed up for an internship at my school of coding. Yeah I'll leave my best friend, Chloe, but opportunities come once.

I was pretty nervous when I was heading for the interview but good thing is that I practiced last night. I was really prepared til I saw this guy staring at me, at least he was cute. And then it hit me I had spilled my coffee on my white cotton blouse. I rushed to the elevator to avoid anymore embarrassment, the boy came right over and handed me a napkin then the elevator doors shut right before he was about to say something. Dang it!

I cleaned my self and headed straight for my interview. I waited three seconds then walked right in without knocking. Good thing Mr. Brown, my interviewer, was expecting me.

"Amanda Johnson, you really think you can handle this internship. I mean you're only 16!" he said inspecting me. "Well I mean how about we make a bargain. I can be your intern for a few months to gain your trust and if you don't like me you can take my job away." I said anxiously. "Exactly what I was about to say maybe you're more than a prodigy," he said smiling, "I know the perfect job for you, you are gonna help me come up with a special code for my computer, come to my home tomorrow at 5 to begin your internship." "thank you Mr. Brown." I said shaking his hands and getting up to leave.

I quickly texted Chloe and told her I got the job. We decided to meet later at out favourite place, the Jiggly Juicer. I texted my mum that we we're headed for a celebration at Chloe's. My mum and I were never close because she's a workaholic.

When I reached Chloe's I walked right in because her dad's always at work. I was so excited I insisted on paying for the drinks.

"Tell me all about it girl" Chloe said. "I got an internship before get the job but I also saw this cute boy I really hope he works there because that would be rewarding." I said slurping my drink. "A job and a hunk huh? lucky you. Well my day was a bust. Today was so boring without you hun!" Chloe said. I was actually surprised Chloe told me any of this, I always had to ask her what happened but anyway I'm happy she's happy.

"Don't worry I'll always make money for you. Speaking of you your birthday is coming up and I know the perfect gift for you since you hate parties. " I said happily. We ordered an Uber and headed to Chloe's since you know strict dad and all.

"Finally, now tell me what happened. " my dad chimed trying to keep his emotions in check. "I got in" I screamed hugging him. " Where's mum? Lemme guess double shift huh? " I sighed, "I know she's trying it get money for the both of us but at least she could spend more time with us." "You know her work work work...but guess what I made your favorite sponge cake to celebrate!" my dad said trying to get my hopes up. It didn't work.

"Thanks dad but maybe tomorrow I have to do some coding and whatever." I said going upstairs. I know I hurt my dad but he has to understand how my mum has hurt me. Heck she didn't even come for my sweet sixteen party! What mum does that?

I set my alarm for 09:00am AMD drifted off to sleep.

I woke up and headed down for a piece of cake. I sent a picture of cake to Chloe and she said she's coming over for cake after school. I apologized toy dad for my attitude and he invited for some ice-cream at Totally Frosty! We took a walk to it and we got our regulars but dad got me extra toppings. Every time he gets me extra toppings he's about to tell me some bad news.

"Spill it dad what bad news do you want to tell me now?" I asked rolling my eyes. "I got a job but don't worry I hired a day nanny for the house since we all have jobs now." he said smiling at me. "Dad that's great news now you can tell mum and she'll stop having excess night shifts." I said hugging him.

We headed back to the house and I heard some noise up stairs I really thought it was mum but it was a notification from my phone from Chloe, classes for the day had been post pone because of a raccoon infestation so she was coming over. I went down stairs and got out some diet soda and prepared for her to barge in.

"Oh welcome Chloe what a nice surprise but don't you have class?" my dad asked. "Hey Mr. Johnson, classes have actually been extended til after lunch so I came to hangout with Amanda." she said. "Over here!" I said holding a plate of sponge cake. We talked about school but Chloe was acting weird she couldn't remember anything they had learnt. I know its none of my business but I have to keep track of any new coding tactics.

I say a text, 'missing you' on Chloe's phone she just smiled at me and said she had to go. I decided to ignore it since she always tells me everything.

It was just 10:15am so I decided to play video games with my dad as a way of celebrating his new job. My mum finally came down stairs and was surprised I wasn't at school. I reminded her that my job started at 5, she decided to take me out for shopping.

After the mall, I took a nap and woke up 10minutes late for my first day as an intern. Since I didn't know where Mr. Brown lived I decided to go ask the receptionist at the COC.

"Hello ma'am, could I have the directions to the Brown's please." I said trying to act professional and nice. "Hey *typing* I've sent the directions to your phone. And please call me Lucy not ma'am." Lucy looked pretty young like her mid 20s. I kept her number just in case I need help with anything at COC.

I ordered an Uber and headed to the Brown's. I didn't want to walk there and end up all sweaty.

Danny's P. O. V

*Ding dong*

"I'll get it Dad!" I said since I figured my dad night just be on his computer trying to locate my mum who left 10 years ago.

"Well well well, stalker are we?" I said grinning. It was the girl I gave a napkin to the other day. "um.. I'm actually here for Mr. Brown." she said. "I'm Danny welcome to my humble home." I said. She looked surprised like anyone else who has ever entered here, my dad does own half of COC so it has to be a big house. I guided her to the sofa, "lemme guess you don't have a name?" I asked. "Oh sorry, *chuckles* I'm Amanda. You have a pretty breath taking house." she said excitedly. "So why are you here my dad owns COC not some cheer leading league"I said cockily. "I'm here for an internship I'm a coding prodigy actually." she said beaming. I was a bit confused because my dad never invites his work friends over especially not pretty ones.

"Oh finally you're here I thought you were a no show," my dad said, "lemme show you around."

Amanda's P. O. V

I actually used a door bell because I thought Mr. Brown was angry at me for but surprise surprise I found Danny, the boy from the COC lobby. It was really shocking because I thought Mr. Brown was a loner. I entered what seemed to be like the biggest I had seen.

Once again Danny was interrupted by his dad who was so eager to show me around. So my new internship started at 9 for 3weeks in there living room from Monday to Friday. I was so excited I bumped into Danny.

Mr. Brown got a laptop from upstairs, "Your job is to create an app that helps in finding people, you know history and stuff."

Danny came over and sat next to me on the couch, "you know since you're a genius and all you could help me with my homework?" I was a little confused why would he need help with his homework? Isn't he smart? "sure how about tomorrow 6?" I asked causally. "I'll pick you up at around 7." he winked.

Chloe's P. O. V

I know I'm supposed to tell Amanda everything but I don't want her to get sad. I'll tell her on my birthday when's she's alone.

Amanda's P.O.V

It's just 2 days away from Chloe's birthday, I'm so excited. I better get ready for my date with Danny. I texted my mum I was going out with Danny she's a bit over protective but she allows me to date.

I get any out fit I could find and threw it on, a car pulled up and they started screaming my name.

"We'll be back at 8 Mrs. Johnson."

He drove to Roosty's, made I'd have a chance to ask him about his dad.

"So what's up with your dad and tracking people?" he avoided eye contact, I had tensed the air. I had to bring something else up. "Hey, how about we start on your homework?" I asked chuckling. "let's order. You know this is a date." he said stretching out his legs.

Danny's P. O. V

Amanda makes being clueless look cute. We got to order and started to get to know each other.

"I went to soc." she said. "I got to an engineering school."

I remember now, I saw her at a pep rally, her and some suspicious lady. She was doing some weird things at the back of the building that I was able to see, yes I followed her but it was for a good cause. I better look into it.

"We better get going." I must have zoned out. I paid and took her home.

Chloe's P. O. V

"You're here." Jeff said. Jeff the supplier, he gives me drugs to boost my performance at school.

After my mum dying I did some things I really regret.

"We need to talk," I have affairs with Jeff so that he couldn't report me to the authorities. I had to stop it, I promised myself I would.

"Listen here! We had a deal. You lose me you lose everything." "I can't do this anymore, Jeff!" that was the last thing I remember saying before I woke up on his bed naked, he had raped me.

Amanda's P. O. V

Chloe's not picking up?! Maybe she's at school or something. Anyway, I met the new nanny today, mid 20s, Janet. She pretty much ignores mum and I the whole time she's there.

Lately my mom wants to spend more time with me, she took me shopping but it was lame because she kept getting calls from the 'office' I honestly thought she worked at the dinner.

I got a notification from soc website maybe a new coding tactic. I was so eager to see it I forced my mom to take me home.

Chloe was expelled? I was so confused, I just went straight to her house.

I barged in and started looking for her. I knew her dad was probably at work or something.

She wasn't in her room but her phone was, maybe her dad gave her a punishment or something. I kept searching.

I walked into the guest room and found Chloe and her dad kissing.

I banged the door shut and I ran as fast as I could trying to hold my tears.
