Interlude 1

I sat in the truck with my husband, both of us having a big smile on our faces. I looked down at one of the chickens that was in the back seat. I smiled at it, it was freaking out, and I loved that it was, I knew that our almighty god, Satan, would be happy with our sacrifice to him.

I put my hand inside the cage, and it moved back a little. I began to stroke on it, trying to get it to calm down a little bit. She needed to be safe for when we sacrificed her soul, and her blood to our lord and saviour.

The chicken the bit on my finger, and I snapped my hand from out of the cage. It came as a bit of a surprise to me, and I saw that I was bleeding just a slight bit. I grew a bit angry, and then pulled out my knife, ready to finish it off, for what it had started.

I then felt the hand of my amazing husband grab onto me, trying to stop me clearly. I turned my head over to him, I was a slight bit confused as to why he had stopped me, from killing the chicken... He began to talk to me, just to tell me why.

"Ashley, don't... We need 5 chickens, and 3 rabbits for the ceremony tonight!" He said to me. I looked at him a fair bit upset at him, I then turned my head, and then spit it at the chicken. I was only trying to calm in down. The chicken just pretended that I had not just disrespected it like that.

I then looked at my husband, a bit frustrated still. I was still a bit new to all of this. I had met him at a bar one night, just a few years ago. We had gotten along fairly well, he then took me over to his place, and that's when I started to figure all of this stuff out.

His wife before me, she had found out about what he had been doing, so he had to kill her. I did not blame him for it at all, she had threatened to call law enforcements on him. Not that they would do anything about it in the first place.

I was a bit unsteady about all of it at first, but now, I was actually beginning to enjoy all of this. It had seemed like my life had gotten a lot better after I had begun these practices with him. I suppose he was right about it, but I was just more upset at the chicken than him.

I looked at the small little cut on my index finger. Then I looked back at me husband, we were not to far away now, it was only like a 5 minute drive, but it felt like it was a bit longer than that, since we drove so slow on this road for some odd reason. I looked back at him and then began to speak.

"Ugh! Alright, if that is what he wants, I suppose so... He attacked me though, surely Satan would want us to kill something that came after us like that..." I said to him. He looked at me a bit angrily for a few moments, and I instantly realized why.

I was about to have a big old lecture, about how we did not like to call him Satan... He was about to give me the same lecture that he always gave me when I called him by that name... But could you really blame me however?

I had grown up in a Christian family, and I had hated ever moment of it, I always like to laugh at my parents, and tell them about how Satan did more for us, than their own God did for them. They would get so mad at me, and they would put me in my room for several days at a time.

I shook my head, I had to get that out of my brain that I was not supposed to call our saviour Satan... He did so much for us, he did not deserve an evil name like Satan. My husband then hit me, like he usually did when I made a mistake like that, I put my head on the ground of the car a bit sadly.

"Ashley, for the last time, he is not called Satan! You call him by his real name Lucifer, or you call him by the name of God!" He said, yelling very loudly at me. I looked down at the ground for a few moments longer. Then I lifted my head up to my husband and then nodded.

He was right, he did not deserve a name as evil as Satan! I did not blame him for getting so mad at me. I just could not help it! My parents always called him by the name of Satan. I held on to the spot in my head where he had hit me, it hurt quite a bit, but it was what I needed to let me know that, it was not his name!

I sat there for a few moments longer, until I knew that he was no longer angry at me, and I could begin talking to him again. Once I knew that it was safe to say something to him, I then began to speak my voice.

"I am sorry... I will do my best to get better with that." I said, promising to him with my fingers out, trying to make the star of David. He looked at me for a few moments, and then he squinted his eyes at me. I could tell that he did not trust what I had just said.

I did not blame him, I had done several things before to lose the trust of my husband. After a few moments he looked away from me, and then he nodded. I did not know if it was a nod to me, or if it was a nod to himself. Either way, I was just happy that it did not end up any worse than it had, like his ex-wife.

"You better be... That chicken is a fighter, and that is exactly what we need to give to God tonight!" He said to me, with a bit of a scary smile on his face. It was not scary to me, I was used to it, I loved him for it. It showed dominance, and it was exactly what I wanted out of a husband.

I looked back at the road, and then noticed that a large truck was driving past us, a lot faster than us, and for sure way above the speed limit as well. He had a bit of a look on his face, that screamed fear. It made me smile, and I could tell that my husband noticed it as well.

"I wonder what he is so worried about Pat, a weak man he must be..." I said to my husband. He looked at me for a few moments, taking his eyes off of the road. Then he began to laugh at what I had just said to him. I began to laugh as well, and as soon as I did, his laugh seemed to disappear.

He then turned his attention back onto the road, and he turned around the corner, to where our devilish gathering place was centered at, deep in the woods. Not a lot of woods in this part of the country as well. I smiled, and then turned my head back to my husband as I then heard him begin to talk.

"Oh... He must have met our friends further east, he must have had some fun with them!"
