A Drone

From a height of 1,000 meters, it was honestly difficult to get a clear view of what was happening on the ground.

Even if help was coming, there was nothing Li Teng could do at the moment.

The only thing he could do was wait—wait for the rescue personnel or the investigation officers at the bottom to discover the stone pillar and his presence at the top.

He believed that as long as rescue personnel or investigation officers were sent here, then they couldn't possibly ignore the stone pillar.

Thus, he would wait.

The day had passed, yet there was still no sign of a helicopter or a drone.

Li Teng lay on the broken bed. His body had weakened even further.

After an extended period where he didn't have any water to drink, his lips were now dry and cracked, and the wounds bloody.

The long period of hunger had also made him unable to maintain clarity in his mind.

Various hallucinations made him think every once in a while that rescue personnel had arrived, brought him down the stone pillar, and sent him back to the warmth of his home.

However, the very next moment, he would be pulled back to the harsh reality.

Night had fallen once again.

When night descended once again, and Li Teng got ready to sleep again, he felt that he might not wake up anymore this time.

Should help still not arrive, he didn't feel that he could survive until daybreak.

Nevertheless, he still didn't have the courage to leap off the side of the bed yet.

He didn't want to give up on the last vestiges of hope yet.

This horrifying plane crash was enough to shock the world. There were so many victims—surely, they couldn't just leave all of them here and disregard them?

Help would definitely come.

A dazed Li Teng began to dream again.

He dreamed that there had been an earthquake, and he was trapped in ruins. His surroundings were incredibly dark.

Suddenly, a beam of light shone toward him. The light was so blinding that he couldn't quite open his eyes.

After a brief moment, Li Teng suddenly woke up in shock—there really was a beam of light in front of him!

He could hear a humming sound too.

Li Teng blocked the light beam with his hand. After he got slightly used to the brightness, he finally got a good look—it was a drone!

A drone! A drone was shining a beam of light at him!

There was a tripod head with a camera attached to it at the bottom of the drone. The camera was facing Li Teng at the moment.

"Hi! How do you do? Can you see me? I… I…"

When Li Teng was convinced that all of this wasn't a dream, he was so agitated that his speech was rather incoherent.

Someone was definitely operating the drone. The fact that it had flown to the top of the stone pillar meant that someone had discovered the stone pillar.

Now that the drone had transmitted the footage of him being trapped up here at the top of the stone pillar back to the operator, they might just send help when they realized his plight!

His days of suffering were finally coming to an end!

"You must have seen me, right? I'm trapped here. I don't know who put me here. Thank you for making a police report and getting them to send a helicopter here to rescue me! I'm very grateful!

"Oh right, my name is Li Teng. My ID number is XXX…"

Li Teng tried his best to calm down and describe his request for help in detail to the drone.

The drone was suspended in mid-air. It stayed still, as though it was listening to what Li Teng was saying.

After Li Teng finished his description, the drone flew up and down for quite a while before it finally stopped.

Then, it stayed motionless in mid-air, not too far in front of Li Teng again.

"What's the meaning of this?

"Can you help me to send the help request out?"

Li Teng requested of the drone once more.

The drone repeated its earlier action of flying up and down before it stopped in mid-air in front of Li Teng again.

"Just now… Oh… Can you do it again…?" It seemed like Li Teng had understood something from its actions.

Obviously, the drone's operator heard Li Teng because the drone started to fly up and down again for the third time.

"I get it. You're drawing a few numbers… It's 4359, right?" Li Teng made a guess based on the drone's flight movements.

The drone swayed up and down for a while. Then, it flew off and disappeared swiftly into the night.

From the looks of it, Li Teng must have made a correct guess. Therefore, the drone's owner had made a nodding motion with the drone.

"Why did it leave?

"4359? What's the purpose of telling me this number? Is there any special meaning to it?" Li Teng was rather bewildered.

After the drone left, Li Teng sprawled at the edge of the bed and looked down at the bottom of the stone pillar.

In the night, the bottom of the stone pillar was covered in pitch-black darkness.

Previously, the small town had also been completely dark at night. Li Teng had thought that this was because the town was located in too remote of an area, so there was no electricity.

Now that a plane crash had occurred, if rescue personnel were sent here, there should be light at the bottom, right?

Why was it still pitch-black?

There was a limit to the drone's battery life. Its operator should be somewhere nearby, so why wasn't there any light at all?

The drone must have sent his help request out by now, right?

Help should come soon, right?

After he sat in the dark in silence for close to an hour, Li Teng, who was incredibly weak, collapsed onto the bed once again.

There was nothing he could do even if the drone refused to send his request for help out.

If the drone sent it out and help really did come, to be honest, there wasn't actually much of a difference whether he was lying down or sitting up.

He would just sleep for now and build up a little more energy in preparation for the rescue personnel's arrival.

I'm so thirsty… and so hungry…

…Let's just sleep.

He didn't know how much time had passed in his daze.

In his dreams, Li Teng sensed his legs dipping downward all of a sudden.

He sat up subconsciously and shifted forward slightly. His legs were actually touching ground!

Li Teng was overjoyed.

Was he back in his bedroom?

With much effort, he finally opened his eyes. What greeted his eyes was the familiar sight of his bedroom, indeed!

A dazed Li Teng got to his feet and took a step forward.

This is… the desk next to the bed?

His cell phone was even on the desk.

Li Teng reached out for his cell phone, only to miss.

It seemed… He was a little too far away. Thus, he had missed.

Li Teng took another step forward subconsciously.

However, before his foot fully landed, he suddenly felt as if something wasn't quite right.

His consciousness abruptly went through a fierce struggle. At last, Li Teng regained full clarity in his mind.

It was then that he realized that he was still at the top of the stone pillar.

His legs had dipped downward earlier because the bed had been badly damaged by the passenger airliner's tail. When he was turning about on the bed, his legs had unintentionally rested at the part of the bed that had been broken off and ended up stepping on the floor at the top of the stone pillar.

At the moment, he was already at the edge of the stone pillar, because of the step he had taken forward.

His raised leg was already beyond the edge of the stone pillar!

If he had fully taken that step just now, there was no doubt that he would have stepped on thin air. He would then end up plunging through an altitude of 1,000 meters from the top of the stone pillar and fall to his death, smashed into pieces!

When Li Teng realized the situation he was in, he was so frightened that a jolt went through his entire body. He retreated hastily to the bed and sat back down.

Wasn't this hallucination a little too nasty?

He was this close to receiving help, yet he had almost jumped to his death by himself in a daze!

Had he fallen to his death right before help arrived, it would have been too unjust of a death!

Li Teng didn't quite dare to sleep anymore after he returned to his bed and lay down once more.

He was afraid that he would suffer another hallucination like the one just now after he fell asleep.

However, in the dark of the night, it wasn't as if Li Teng, who was in an incredibly weakened state, could stop himself from sleeping after he lay down just because he didn't want to.

In no time, Li Teng fell asleep once again… Or rather, entered a semi-comatose state.

Could his body hang in there until daybreak?

Could he still wake up the next day?

Would help come?
