22 The world of magic is not as simple as it seems

Wait, Did he say like me?

"Balth- Professor, You also posses an Arcane soul, How many others also had this kind of magic?" Asked Isabelle.

"Yes, Arcane magic is more ancient than Primal magic. For it's rarity, It is even considered as a myth. Only few knows it's existence. For now, You are the only I know who had this kind of magic like Mine"

"Then aside from using arcane energy as a fuel, What's difference between Elemental magic, Primal magic, and Arcane magic?"

Balthazar grabbed a chalk then began writing on the board.

"Let's start with Elemental magic and primal magic first, And their difference. Elemental magic is a type of magic that can create elements from nothing to something like fire, water, air, etc. Those with elemental soul can use all of the elements, But naturally those who had a fire elemental soul can use fire elements more effectively than those who had water elemental soul. So with that being said, It is recommended that you stick to your specialized element"

"Isn't it actually better if they learn other elements aside from the elemental type of their soul? For example, If an individual is already good at fire then why not enhance his skills on other elements like water or air?"

Isabelle made a point, If an individual is gifted at fire then why not allocate more of his time with other elements?

"You're not the first one who thought about it before. Though it sounds logical, It is actually foolish. When I say that a mage with a fire elemental soul can use fire more than a mage with a water soul effectively, I mean it."

Isabelle scratched her head. Yep, I don't understand a single thing at all.

"If a mage who have a water elemental soul tried to cast a fire spell, It will still produce. But even if that mage chugs his entire mana into that spell, It wont be as good as a mage with fire elemental soul that only use a little bit of mana to cast the same spell."

I get it now. So it's practically useless to learn other elemental spells aside from your own elemental soul.

"Then what about primal magic?, Ishkaria uses primal magic. And I also heard about a spirit mage"

"A mage who have a Primal soul is often called a spirit mage, But that is not the case, Actually there are two types of mages that uses Primal magic. One is a weaver and this type of primal magic user is what they call a spirit mage. Unlike elementalists, Weavers can not create something out of nothing. If a water weaver wants to command the element of water, There must be an existing water in the first place"

"Doesn't that make weavers extremely weak?! They wont have a match against an elementalist that can create and command water!"

"Not at all, In fact, Water weaver is a lot stronger than a water elementalist. If strong enough a water weaver can command the water that an elementalist conjured. If you're wondering how, Primal magic's source of power is from the spirits of the earth itself. Like the two of us who use Arcane energy, Primal mage users still uses mana but not from the user but on the earth itself, Therefor a land rich in spiritual engergy and mana can make a primal mage powerful. That is the reason why there are so many primal mages in Enthua, You could not find any land who's rich in spiritual energy aside from Enthua."

"Then what about the other one?"

"The other is called beast magic. There are some primal mage's soul formed into that of a beast. Their magic is not like a weaver nor an elementalist. Instead of elements, They uses magic to gain inhuman speed, strength, agility, vision and many more like that of a beast. Your friend Ishkaria has this kind of magic. The beast mage's power depends on what kind of beast the soul formed. If it's a dragon, they can have the strength and the characteristics of a dragon."

"And Finally, there is us that posses an Arcane soul. One thing I forgot to mention about Arcane magic is that it is also called the living magic."

As if the other type magic isn't complicated enough! Now what is this living magic?!

"Why is it called a living magic?" Isabelle asked.

"As the name implied, This magic is alive"

Yep, I didn't get it at all!

This made Isabelle more confused. This was too much information in a single day, She felt like her head is about to explode. Although she listened to Balthazar's explanation carefully and reading the notes he wrote on the board. Still, She could not grasp the information.

Damn it! Why is the world of magic so complicated?! Why can I just go like point at a certain direction and go Boom kapow kapow! and wapak! he's dead!
