Treasure's POV

"Treasure"!

"Yes mom"

"Hurry up young lady or you'd be late for school and I for work".

"Okay mom I'm on my way"

"Hey mom I'm done let's go".

"Next time you wake up late young lady I'll leave you behind"

"No you wouldn't"

"Try me". My mom fiercely stated.

"Mom stop here, the assembly already started".

"No let me just go a little bit further, I don't want you fall"

"Mom I won't fall, just stop here". I replied promptly.

"Young lady the path isn't smooth, you know you have a bad leg"

"Just because the path isn't smooth does not mean I would fall, stop underestimating me. I beg in God's name".

I got out of the car and headed to the assembly so pissed at what my mom said, I know she means well but she has no idea what her words do to me. I have a physical challenge I'm well aware of it, the last thing I need is a constant reminder.

"Good morning Mr Whyte". I greeted the late comer self imposed overseer.

"Good morning"

I was amazed he didn't say anything about my lateness. Let me tell you something about Mr Whyte. He is about 6ft tall and completely white, funny right, yeah I know, but I can't figure out if that's why we call him Mr Whyte or if it's his real name. Back to the point, Mr Whyte is the most cruel some teacher in the entire school, 'he flogs like mad', I mean like he is about to kill you and guess what he is always at the gate for late comers even though he doesn't have to. The way he behaves and 'carries the job on his head' one will think they pay him well, 'I don't know sha' what is my own, it's not like I was flogged.

I got to the assembly, bowed my head as usual and zoned out. "Our father who hath in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth" that's what brought me back to reality. After Our Lords Prayer, we all marched to our various classes.

The Math teacher came in and not long after our principal followed with a 'strange boy', by strange I mean he's new. The principal gave an announcement that he's a new student blah blah and asked him to sit on the vacant seat beside me.

"Hi"

"Hi". I replied reluctantly.

"I'm Jamie"

"Nice to meet you Jamie"

"You won't tell me your name?"

"You didn't ask for my name"

He smiled and said "what's your name?"

"Treasure "

"Nice to meet you Treasure"
