Chapter 2

Yang Dai woke up. He quickly scowered his surroundings. He was on a small beach. Around him were several small islands measuring just a few kilometers. The island he was on was the biggest of them all but even it was small. He didn't know what was in the center of the island since it was covered by lush forest. He saw that the ship that he and his father repaired, Noshiro was completed destroyed. Whole parts were missing and there were holes all around the hull.

Yang Dai was devastated. How was he going to get off the island? He had no survival skills and his father and he didn't know how to cook. Even if the ship still worked, his father, the only sailor that knew how to navigate a ship was gone!

Yang Dai was no fool despite his name. He knew he could not wallow in despair or else he might really die. He began listing things he needed to do.

"Food, shelter, and water." he began, " If there is still food and water on the ship, we can survive that way. I can still live on the ship!" Yang Dai's eyes suddenly brightened. He began heading towards the ship.

Maybe it was luck, maybe it was god's will but the water level didn't require Yang Dai to swim. Yang Dai was just a ordinary farmer! He didn't know any skills besides farming and eating.

Yang Dai went in one of the broken holes on Noshiro. He murmured to himself, "If there is a hole, there is a way!"

The floor was completely covered in water. Yang Dai was covered from his ankle down. (Notice: The layout of the ship is not the same as the actual Noshiro. Beware History buffs!)

He noticed he was on the second floor. The deck was above him and the food and other cargo were below him. His eyes widened as he realized that the food must have been completeley soaked.

Going down the ladder to his right, he took a big breath and started to take a look and saw all the barrels were intact he was going to try and swim there but he remembered he couldn't swim! He was just an ordinary farmer's son. He quickly tried to head toward the ladder and climbed back to the second floor.

Yang Dai tried looking on the bright side.

At least the cabin wasn't completely soaked. He could still live there. He only had one choice left.

To head in the island.
