4 Finishing Meetings and solving problems

"-Ember Hollow." I said, telling hornet the name I thought of when comparing my life to Dark Souls now.

"Curious name for a curious little bug, alright then Ember." hornet replied.

hornet shortly left after learning of my new name, my eyes were unable to track her as she seemingly teleported away.

I went around the hole in the middle of the room to the other side, and fought some globbies along the way.

when I reached the exit to the room I wondered how it was I was going to get stronger, I was unable to learn the nail arts, the blacksmith is gone and my nail wont be getting better from him.

walking down the tunnel I saw what looked to be a small square stump against the wall, it seemed that benches are more generous in this version of the world.

as I sat down a message popped up from the screen.

{an update to the charm Hollow Knights Legacy has occurred update now?}

a charm updating? what kind of system like bs is this? *sigh* fine 'update'

{Hollow Knights Legacy has been updated, now all nail arts are available for an increased price compared to that which would have been given by the nail masters, and blacksmithing is a charm you can get from the blacksmiths hut to be able to forge your nail with pale ore and geo.}

was the screen reading my thoughts? This is exactly what I was worried about and the screen just goes here is the solution.

{screen shall update badges accordingly to what problems the user experiences, on rare occasions.}

oh, alright then.

I continued on the path to the end of the tunnel, the light at the end looked worryingly orange.

...To Be con- HAH you thought it was an average length chapter by me, but it was actually me! Extra length chapter! (a/n don't expect too many of these)

at the orange light I could see menacing pulsing orange things on the walls, they looked just like in the game.

I went deeper into the room and found it was actually some kind of library, most of the books are covered in the orange corruption bubbles, but there were a few I were able to extract and read.

one of which was disconcerting to say the least 'The Fallen Dreamers' was the title, and if I remember correctly the dreamers sealed the "last boss" the Hollow Knight in a massive black egg, but with how this book depicts it, the dreamers are the bad guys here in this verse.

one of the passages read as such "For it is that when the great hero the Hollow Knight was confronted by the foul Dreamers, the Knight called to a higher power that destroyed the dreamers."

that higher power must be the Radiance, and due to the Radiance having a bigger presence here than simply being a true final boss, the whole world was thrown asunder.

after reading through several tomes of this lore I managed to save from the corruption, I wondered where to put it that it would be safe.

then the answer came to me like a slap to the face.

{user now has access to the inventory!}

my eyebrow twitched a bit, why is it I did not have this before now?!

{because user did not need it before now}

with a resigned sigh I put the books into my inventory, it looks to be like Skyrim's inventory, cause I can still feel the weight of the tomes as if I was carrying them.

I ran into a few husks here and there and cut them down with my nail, they looked just like in the game except they looked like they were turned into zombies and rotted away for a few years.

the geo I collected was enough to buy one whole soul fragment, (it only cost two hundred) I was going to make a remark on how cheap it was to get one, then it showed the next one costing double, and I felt my face twitching, because the soul fragment was the cheapest of the options, with a mask fragment being the next cheapest being a whole two thousand.

I put the prices out of my head as I found the exit to the library being guarded by some husked knights, I prepare my nail and charge.

the first one goes down easy enough, but once it died the second one went berserk and took longer to take down, and I suffered some serious damage, my left arm was hanging barely by some tissue and bones, and I had a hole in my gut.

I wondered how healing was described in the game, focus I think, so that's what I did, I focused but I also felt that I would need to do a little more than focusing on the wounds, so I also thought it had something to do with soul energy, so I tried calling forth my very soul to heal my wounds through shear will, and some how that worked.

I was slightly stunned by disbelief at how my first attempt at healing, and subsequently how my first use of soul energy, went.

after a brief moment of glee, dancing while whispering to myself about how I did magic, and admiring how my arm is perfectly fine now, I went through the exit, where I immediately met face to face with hornet who was watching me the entire time I entered the library apparently.

"so, you saw everything." I said, more of a statement than a question because I knew that she was, from that little smug expression I could somehow tell on her mask.

"yes, yes I did Ember, all the way to your cheer about using 'magic' for the first time." she said.

my blushing must have made it through my mask because hornet began laughing at me after she said that.

"*sigh* could you please forget that?" I asked.

"oh Ember, not even if the radiance itself pleaded with me to forget that." she answered

I just walked silently down the tunnel with hornet walking slightly behind me still lightly chortling about my little moment.

...To be continued, in the future at some point perhaps

(a/n yeah I thank FBI_Nothis04 for the good suggestions, but I went with Ember Hollow because of how dark souls three had unkindled that used embers to rekindle themselves, and also because I wanted a name that I could abbreviate to a single word as well so I could have people not refer to him by his whole name every time.)
