14 14 Shigaru Clan

Takahashi returns home from Yumegakure and greets Shiva before they eat dumplings together. While eating, Shiva asks Takahashi about his trip. After listening to Takahashi, Shiva finally notices the color of his eyes.

"Takahashi, come and let me take a look at your eyes," Shiva says.

Takahashi does as he is told and allows Shiva to look at his eyes. What Shiva sees is a pair of eyes that are silver that illuminates like the moon. Shiva slowly shows an excited expression after seeing Takahashi's Sosengan.

"My little Takahashi was able to reach this level of the Sosengan; you make me so proud."

"Mom, why are you so happy," Takahashi asks.

"Of course I'll be proud; you have reached the limit of the Sosengan. You now have the opportunity to evolve it."

"What will it become if I can evolve it?"

"Everyone's evolution is different; you'll have to wait until your evolution is complete to get the answer."

Shiva enters the room in the house that's always locked, gets a scroll, and returns to Takahashi.

"This scroll contains the history of the Shigaru clan as well as the secret of how to evolve the Sosengan, " Shiva explains and hands Takahashi the scroll. Takahashi opens the scroll and reads it.

The Shigaru clan was a clan that mysteriously appeared a millennium ago before the time of ninjutsu. At that time, there was a sole member of the clan named Jaires Shigaru. It is said that Jaires appeared and opened a clinic years before Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the Sage of 6 Paths, was born.

Takahashi couldn't decipher some of the details of the Shigaru clan's history that followed so he began to read how to evolve the Sosengan. To evolve the Sosengan the user must complete the Trial of Origins. The Trial of Origins is a one-time technique that will cast a genjutsu on the target. The genjutsu sends the target to the time of their forefather. Since the jutsu is usually used on members of the Shigaru clan, it means the target will be sent to Jaires Shigaru's time. There are three outcomes of the Trial of Origins:

1) The target dies in the Trial of Origins and he/she cease to exist.

2) The target completes the Trial of Origins and awakens the bloodline of his/her forefather. The target also retains his/her experience.

3) The target survives the Trial of Origins and return with experience from the trial but has a more difficult time awakening their forefather's bloodline than before taking the trial. There are several other techniques in the scroll but Takahashi can't read them at the moment.

Takahashi closes the scroll and hands it back to Shiva.

"Are you ready," Shiva asks.

I'm ready," Takahashi answers.

"Remember that even if you're in a genjutsu everything is real; your actions can affect the timeline so be careful...Shigaru Clan Secret Technique: Trial of Origins."

Shiva's activated Sosengan shines and the area around Takahashi briefly distorts before returning to normal.

Takahashi surveys the area and spots a huge lake. It takes an hour for him to arrive at a village. Once inside the village, Takahashi asks for the location of Jaires's clinic. After entering the clinic, he sees a blind twenty-four-year-old man in a doctor's jacket and surgical gloves preparing for surgery. The man is Jaires Shigaru. Just as Takahashi enters, Jaires stops his preparations.

"Is there something I can help you with," Jaires asks.

"Yes, I heard that you were excellent in regards to medical care so I came to ask to be your disciple," Takahashi responds.

"Came to be my disciple, huh? Demonstrate to me how well you know the human body."

Jaires gives Takahashi a diagram of a human body and has him label it. Takahashi labels the diagram and returns it. Jaires takes out a labeled diagram and hands it to Takahashi. Takahashi compares to two and discovers that besides pressure points, he only has a basic knowledge of human anatomy.

"Let me show you something."

Jaires walks out of the clinic and goes to the outskirts of the village. Despite being blind, Jaires still functions like any man with perfect vision. Once they reach the outskirts of the village, Takahashi finds multiple poisonous plants.

"For the start of your training, you will consume several poisonous plants until you become immune. After that, you will live with me and learn human anatomy until you can label a diagram with no mistakes. You have a two-year deadline. If you can complete these tasks then I'll let you join my training. You are to do all of this while blindfolded; any questions?

"No."

"Good...now begin."
