Dinner

Lan Xiang finished up his testing of the Mountain Destruction Technique and was left completely baffled, but managed to accept it overtime.

Up until now, all of the manuals followed some sort of logic. Maybe... it's because I never used a manual combined through the system? Or because it's a red level that the previous set of rules didn't apply. These questions had no answers as of now, so Lan Xiang only put them aside inside his mind.

Lu Xifa took him back to his house and left confidently, like she had managed to accomplish something.

Lan Xiang, who was craving for Xie Jian's hug right now, got it immediately once he opened the door.

"Eh, wha..."

"You looked like you needed it." Xie Jian let him go after a few seconds and headed towards the table. "Clean yourself up, let's eat dinner."

And so, Lan Xiang rushed towards his bedroom and took a light shower, wore his home clothes, and ran towards the dinner table, eager to eat Xie Jian's meal.

"Woah, that was fast." Xie Jian was shocked. She didn't expect him to be that excited over a meal.

"I'm really hungry right now." Lan Xiang licked his lips. "Hey, come to think of it, why don't you do that thing?"

"What thing?"

"The thing where when I get home, you ask me what I want to eat, like 'Would you like omelette, or miso soup... or me?'"

"Idiot." Xie Jian chuckled as she poured the meal she had prepared on a bowl and brought it to the table. She sat down in front of him.

"Thanks for the meal."

And so, they started eating.

"Oh, that's right! The exam results should have been posted today." Xie Jian mentioned.

"Wha, how do you know about this?" Lan Xiang tried to avoid talking about the topic.

"Well, I keep in contact with Xifa. She told me you got 9th in your school?"

"...Yeah, it's embarrassing. I know."

Lan Xiang had always heard about how much of a genius Xie Jian was, and developed a sort of inferiority complex when it came to grades. Now that he had a chance to prove himself, he flunked it and even got big eggs on two subjects.

"Ha? What's embarrassing about this? It's a massive improvement!" Xie Jian had been feeling proud ever since earlier when she received Lu Xifa's picture of the bulletin board rankings.

"Well, I mean, it's nothing compared to your results."

"Hey? Haven't I told you not to worry about that? Besides, look at me, I'm lounging at your house, skipping school, while you're here getting perfect scores in all subjects except two! I'm pretty sure I know who's doing better between us."

Lan Xiang finally smiled as he let out a sigh of relief. He needed Xie Jian's comfort, after all.

"Now that I mention it, you completely failed geography and history. Why don't I tutor you?" Xie Jian was excited by the prospect.

Up till now, whenever she offered to tutor him, Lan Xiang denied it. He was too lazy to even improve his studies by himself, not to mention getting someone to help him.

However, now that he's actively pursuing a good grade and doing a great job at it, Xie Jian offered him once more.

"..." Lan Xiang thought about it for a bit. Since both sets of his memories drew a blank when it came to this subject, he really needed someone's help. And so, he spoke.

"Only if you wear a hot teacher suit."

"..." Xie Jian.

.....

The weekend passed by in a flash, with Lan Xiang using all of his free time for either training or spending time with Xie Jian.

Monday.

By now, the contemptuous looks he had always received when he entered school had disappeared, and were replaced with a look of both fear and respect.

As he headed towards the classroom, he saw a huge number of his classmates just piled up on the hallway, Lu Xifa and the rest included.

"Hey, what's up here?" Lan Xiang tapped on Ren Weiwei's shoulder, who was peeking through the crowd.

"Hmm? Well, the homeroom teacher says there are ghosts in the classroom, so he locked it up first and told us to wait for the ghost hunting crew to arrive."

"The ghost hunting crew?" As a firm non-believer of anything supernatural, Lan Xiang almost laughed at what she said. When he contemplated a bit more, he came to realize that it might be true, since he was in a different world now. Although, his memories from the current world didn't contain anything other than cultivation.

"Yeah, they're famous on the net. They always raid these 'haunted mansions' with a cameraman to film everything. And now it seems like they've decided to come here. On a school day." Ye Qingle almost facepalmed after hearing what she herself had said.

"Yeah, wouldn't it have been better for their ratings if they came at nighttime? It'll be more atmospheric, and they wouldn't be interrupting our class time," Zhang Xiaoqin pouted, "...well, not like you three need any class time."

Ye Qingle agreed with that sentiment, while Lan Xiang, Ren Weiwei, and Lu Xifa stayed silent.

As the five talked with each other, their classmates' clamor started quieting down.

"Shush, shush, they're coming! Here they are...!"

A group of three people walked down the hallway, wearing what seemed to be professional gear suited for a ghost hunter.

'One of them seems really familiar...' Lan Xiang gazed at the slim, tall, and handsome man that slid his hair back every so often. 'Fumu, I don't know any guy with these three traits except for myself. Besides, the only guy friend I have is Ren Zhao, who's busy working as a butler in our mansion. He's also very fat, so it's impossible to be him."

Beside him, Ren Weiwei was stunned. "Brother Zhao??"

"What, what did you say?" Lan Xiang turned his head towards Ren Weiwei.

"That guy! The slim, tall, and handsome man is my brother, Ren Zhao!" Ren Weiwei looked like she was proud of talking about him.

"You say, his name is Ren Zhao?"

"Yes, Ren Zhao."

"..." Lan Xiang. "This Ren family sure has a weird habit of turning into beautiful people."
