Body Reconstruction Pill

After the lackluster harvest of last Friday, Lan Xiang made up his mind to slack off and not put so much effort into refining the pills anymore. What was the point? It would just waste his time.

However, now that there was a customer that, not only brought a Gold level recipe, but was also a potential in-law, Lan Xiang discarded his plans and decided to go all-out, even if it was just for this one.

'Let's see... crap!' Lan Xiang calculated how much time it would take based on the recipe. 'This recipe... is hard! It would take at least a few days of nonstop refining, just to produce one pill!'

He was worried. 'She requested that I make it specifically during this day. I need to find a solution!'

Ning Muqin patiently waited at the side as she watched Miss X scan through the scroll again and again.

"...Ma'am, do you think she'll be able to make it?"

"Hush! Don't say such inauspicious words. I believe in her." Ning Muqin saw the earnest desire in Miss X's eyes as the latter declared that she would fulfill her request.

"Miss, I need to go somewhere temporarily, please wait for a few minutes." Lan Xiang approached Ning Muqin.

Ning Muqin didn't get to respond as she watched Miss X run to who knew where. "..."

A few minutes later.

Lan Xiang came back, relieving everyone who thought he bailed.

He examined the small rug that he placed on the ground. "Hmm, too small! I have no choice... only two more can fit in the rug."

Ning Muqin, who could hear Miss X's mutterings, wondered what she was talking about.

All of a sudden, Miss X waved her hand, and out of her storage ring came 6 cauldrons!

Adding the one he had already placed earlier, there was a total of 7 cauldrons surrounding the rug.

Lan Xiang jumped inside the encirclement of cauldrons and closed his eyes. "Everyone, please back away for a moment."

Ning Muqin widened her eyes. 'This Miss X... Is she crazy?!'

She knew that she had made an unreasonable request by asking Miss X to refine a supreme tier pill within the day. However, she didn't expect that the mysterious pill refiner would go this route!

Horror stories of pill refiners attempting to use multiple cauldrons at once to accelerate their pill refining speed were widespread in the capital, so much so that even commoners who had no cultivation had heard of them.

The brave and daring pill refiner would choose to use two cauldrons as they had a limited time. At first, everything would go well and dandy. However, should they lose control of one of the cauldrons, it would be rendered unstable. But they wouldn't be able to bail like they usually did, as there was also another cauldron, which, if abandoned, would chain with the other cauldron and cause a larger explosion. And so the brave and daring would turn into the conceited pill refiner.

Of course, there were rare cases of pill refiners actually succeeding in using two cauldrons. However, these were the cream of the crop, the top of the hill. A sane pill refiner would never even think of this idea, let alone attempt it and, on top of that, succeed in doing so.

And yet, they were now seeing the mysterious Miss X take out not one, not two, not even three, but 7 cauldrons!

Lan Xiang inhaled deeply as he filled all of the cauldrons with water.

"Sh- she's crazy!" A potential customer sweat bullets as he watched the scene. "F*ck this, I'm outta here!"

"Me too! Wait for me!" "This crazy bitch!" "I don't wanna die here!"

One by one, the cowardly spectators rushed out of the area, fearing for their life.

Ning Muqin bit her lip as she decided to wait by Miss X's side, preparing to save the pill refiner from a potential explosion. After all, she was the reason Miss X decided to try such a reckless move.

She ordered her assistant to watch from a distance. "Don't worry. Even if an explosion does happen, I won't be hurt."

The assistant reluctantly left the area. As a Hidden Qi cultivator, he knew it was too dangerous for him to stay.

Meanwhile, Lan Xiang didn't notice the chaotic atmosphere as his complete focus was on refining the pill. As the water inside of each of the cauldrons begun bubbling, he opened the briefcase.

"Hm, three batches of ingredients, eh?"

Reviewing the recipe one last time, he started to plop each ingredient in their respective cauldrons.

There were a total of 7 ingredients needed for the Body Reconstruction Pill, each of them having different methods of preparation.

"First, the main ingredient for this recipe: a multi-tailed vermillion bird's tail feather. It needs to be soaked in water that has less than 10 degrees Celsius for 6 hours."

Lan Xiang furrowed his brows. Six hours? I don't wanna wait that long!

Luckily, his mastery of the pill refining technique was at a Proficient level, so he had quite a few methods to reduce the time. He also had the ability to control multiple elements, so he had access to infinitely more options than every other pill refiner.

Calculating inside his mind, he found out that he could reduce the time by half simply by using wind inside the cauldron to speed up the freezing process of the feather.

He worked on the other six ingredients similarly, lessening the time to prepare them by almost 12 hours collectively! And, coupled with the fact that he was working on these ingredients separately, that gave him a few more hours back.

Ning Muqin relaxed for a moment. Ingredient preparation shouldn't be that dangerous.

She sat down on the ground, eagerly waiting for the pill to be refined.

Two hours later.

Lan Xiang clicked his tongue.

"Here comes the tricky part: some of the ingredients need to synergize with the other's essences while being prepared."

He rubbed his hands as preparation for what was about to come. After all, just the slightest mishap could screw everything up, and he would have to start all over again.

"And start...!"

The liquid in one of the cauldrons began flying out of its lid. Lan Xiang opened one of the other cauldrons and let the liquid trickle, drop by drop, into the cauldron.

Each drop created a hissing sound, steam rising from inside of the cauldron.

Some of the spectators came back, curious to see if Miss X had exploded yet. Although they were a fair bit of distance away, they could still watch the pill refining process.

Meanwhile, Lan Xiang continued to work on the other ingredients that needed to be combined.

All of a sudden, one of the cauldrons shook!

The crowd ran away from the scene once more.

Ning Muqin started to worry.

Later.

Ning Muqin nodded off, lacking sleep from staying beside her son in the hospital.

Lan Xiang was getting bored. Although what he was doing required extreme focus, it required extreme patience as well, and this was something that he lacked, both in this life and the previous one.

Fortunately, it was time for the next phase of the plan, and it was the most dangerous.

He needed to use his qi according to the pill refining technique to catalyze the ingredients and synthesize the liquids, all the while refining the impurities out of the mixture.

With a wave of his hand, all of the lids flew off, leaving the cauldrons open. Lan Xiang prevented the various substances in the air to mess with the liquids by covering the cauldrons with an air dome.

Ning Muqin woke up as the lids crashed onto the ground. She instinctively activated her technique and covered her entire body in a blue flame! "What! What happened!"

"Nothing, nothing significant happened." Lan Xiang answered.

Miss X's perfunctory answer calmed Ning Muqin down as she took off the flames. Her clothes were a bit burnt now...

"Haah, I was worried for a bit there...--!"

Ning Muqin widened her eyes as she saw the marvelous scene before her.

Streams of liquid substances with a variety of colors flowed through the air, jumping from cauldron to cauldron. At times, it would simply mix in, and in others, it would create a reaction, steaming as bubbles popped.

All the while Miss X sat in the center of it all, sitting with crossed legs.

Ning Muqin's heart beat faster. This was it! She was closer to the pill than she ever was before! Her breath started to quicken.
