God's Last Hope

Jairus was shocked and blinded by the sudden light, but he was more attentive to the notifications that kept ringing in his ears. It was coming from his phone. When he looked around, he was floating in a white tunnel.

"What the hell is this? Where am I? Is this part of the game?"

After giving it some thought, he decided to go on with it.

"Let's give it a try then. Since I'm rather regular looking, how about I make myself handsome?"

The idiot was grinning from ear to ear like he had seen the future where he was surrounded by girls and having a good time.

"Damn! I forgot, I suck at communicating with people. What should I do? I haven't been out of my room ever since I was seven years old!"

Meanwhile, the system rang on his ears again.

He tapped three letters on his phone.

"Jai"

I don't need fancy names. I'm just here to explore. Besides, nobody will recognize me and it sounds a like a name of a kind person. Well, I am actually kind though.

After another flash of light. He found himself standing in a plaza. It looked so real. The graphics are so realistic that some people even cried for the world's beauty.

Preparing Announcements...

Jairus felt his phone kept vibrating. He took it out from his pocket to see what was going on..

Suddenly, a small figure appeared in front of Jairus.. It looked like a man in his thirties, in the outside world it was considered quite old.

"Welcome to God's Last Hope. I am Engineer Razzel. Everybody calls me Razz. Well now, what do you think? A nice world huh? I worked myself so hard to create this. This was my dream since I was a kid. Do you know what my dream is?"

Just a while ago, Razz was talking with a face seemingly welcoming all players in his world. But if one looked closely, they would notice the smirk on his face. Like he was mocking all of them. Apparently, not a single soul noticed this.

Jairus felt that something was wrong. He just can't put his fingers on it.

Razz continued on with a smile on his face.

"My dear players, listen carefully for I will tell you the basics of this world. First of all, you will all be relying on your phones in this game. All status checking, skills, databases, etc are all in there. In this game, your phones will be indestructible, it can't be destroyed no matter what you do. Of course, you can't use it as an armor or a shield to block attacks. Your phone will also serve as your inventory where you can store items that you obtain. And it is voice operated. For example, if you want to store items, you just have to say 'Keep'. But it will only be effective to the items in your hand. You can't keep items on the ground, you have to pick it up. If you want to view your status, just say 'Status' and it will pop up in front of you. If you don't know the commands, just say 'Commands' and a list of commands will show in front of you."

"Second, when you encounter a mob/monster, you have to take a picture of it to see its details. Yeah, that's right. You can even take a selfie while at it. Fun right? Meanwhile, for NPCs you approach, you have to state your name or introduce yourself and he/she will tell you his/hers. It's just like meeting someone new in the outside world. You can learn from them, but there are also other hermits out there who can teach you other classes as well. It will all be up to your luck."

"Thirdly, since I love you all" Razz paused as he smirked. "I wanted you to feel like all of this is real so I made sure that the damage you receive from monsters will make you feel the corresponding pain. But worry not because in this world you are immortal. You may die, but will be resurrected at revival points or you may be revived by Clerics."

"Lastly" Razz paused as he laughed maniacally like a madman. "There is no 'Logout' function in this game. If you want to return to the real world. Clear the game. As I am speaking here, I am probably making my preparations to purify the earth. I will be removing all impurities made by our predecessors. I will be cleaning up the Earth that I loved and will always love. If no one clears the game, then you can't return to Earth. By the way, the time here is the same as the time on Earth. So take your time and play to your heart's content."

"Now, let the games BEGIN!" After that, Razz's image exploded into beautiful specs of rainbow light.
