16 You Can't Be Like Her

Mrs Torres looked around and asked, "Where is Chad?"

"I am here, mom" Chad walked into the hall. He wore a black suit and had a dark

sunglasses on. Everybody stood up and bow. He looked at everybody and waved his hand telling them to sit down.

"As you all know that my son here, Chad Torres will be the next CEO of carpeDiem Torres, but we have decided to make him the COO. With the help of my son, I know and I believe that this company will get into greater height" she said and they gave her a round of applause. She turned to her son and asked, "Son, do you have anything to say?"

He stood up, adjusted his suit jacket and cleared his throat. "I want to thank you all for giving the privilege to work with you. As you all know that my parents owns this company and I won't want to disappoint them so my promise is that: I will do my best to develop the company strategy and achieve the goal of this company. I hope you all will support me to make this company great. Thank you" he said and the room exploded in applause.

A man stood up and said, "On behalf of the staff of this company, we would love to welcome you to the company. We all are here to help you" Mr. Thomas, one of the directors in the company said.

"This meeting ends now, you can all go back to work" Mrs. Torres said and stood up and left. Chad stood up and followed her outside.

"Sir Chad is so handsome. I want to have him" joy said.

"Yeah, he is" another said.

Chad was every girl's dream. He had everything a girl wanted in a man.

"But it is so unfortunate that he has a girlfriend. Do you know who she is?"

They began to gossip.

"Yes, I heard she is a farm worker"

"She is from a poor family and why will Chad chose someone like her"

"I don't know"

"I think we should go back to work"

"Yeah" they stood up and left the room.

At napsan, palawan.

"Now tell me who Mina is" Johanna asked Rachel again. She heard the both of them talking about someone named Mina, but she didn't know who the person was.

"Mina is Mrs Torres bestie's daughter. She lives in their house, but nothing is going on between them"

"What do you mean by nothing is going on between the both of them" she said and sat down beside Rachel.

"Don't you trust Chad?"

"I do, but I don't trust that girl Mina. I am sure she has bad intentions. She might steal Chad from you"

"I know she loves Chad. Mrs Torres said it this morning that the reason why Mina came back to the Philippines is because of Chad"

"Then what are you waiting for? Tell Chad to send her back to where ever she came from. You know, Chad will surely listen to you"

"No, I can't do that"

"But why?" she was a little dissapointed.

"I just can't" she shook her head. "Chad promised me that he won't fall for her"

"Okay, if you say so" she stood up and said, "You need to rest, okay? Aunt and I will go to the farm. Don't worry, I will help you do your work"

"Thank you" she smiled.

"Don't thank me. Just get some rest, okay?"

"Mhm" she nodded.

"Aunt, let's go, we are going to be late" she called.

"Yes, am coming" she came out and looked at Rachel, "Rachel, are you going to be okay staying at home? You can follow us to the farm"

"No aunt, remember Chad told her to get some rest at home not at the farm and you won't want Chad to scold Rachel"

"Yeah, it's true"

Smiling, Rachel said, "Don't worry mom, I am fine staying at home, you guys go to the farm"

"Okay, if you say so" Mrs beltran said and left with Johanna.

The smile on Rachel's face faded when they left. Thinking of what Johanna said, Mrs Torres want her son to marry Mina not her, but she believes that Chad will not leave her.

Later at night at the Torres mansion.

Chad walked into his room and the light of his room were off, he turned on the switch and only to find Mina on his bed. She wore a black lingerie and a black net veil covering her face and a black knee shoe. There were red petal roses used to make a love shape and I LOVE YOU beneath the love shape on the bed.

"What are you doing here?" his voice was cold.

She stood up from the bed, walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Chad dearly, I have been waiting for you. How was your first day at work?" she smiled at him and looked into his eyes. "I have missed you so much"

He pushed her away from him forcefully and she nearly fell.

"Stop this nonsense and get out of my room!" he yelled at her angrily.

She walked to him and held his face in her palm, "Chad I love you, I want to be with you"

A wide mile smirk on his face, "Are you blind? Don't you know I have a girlfriend?"

"I don't care. I love you Chad and I want you to marry me"

He pushed her away and she fell on the floor. "The only person I love is Rachel, only Rachel"

When she heard Rachel's name, her heart was filled with hatred and jealousy. She really didn't understand why Chad chose her. She had known Chad for a very long time even though they did not talk to each other. She never expected a low, poor farm worker like Rachel to capture the heart of this arrogant, cold creature.

She stood up and walked to Chad. "Is it that girl called Rachel that you love? Huh? What does she have? Nothing. I can be like her, dress like her if you want me to. I will do anything for you"

Of course, she was willing to do anything just as long as she had Chad. She had been in love with him for a very long time and she couldn't watch just anybody take him away from her.

"You can't be like her"

" I am richer than her, more beautiful than her, educated than her... why can't I have you Chad?"

"Because you were never born to have me as your own"

She looked into his eyes and saw nothing but his cold and motionless eyes. The way he looked at Rachel was different from the way he looked at other girls. Why was Rachel so lucky to have Chad?

"I love you Chad and the only person that loves you is me, Mina. That girl Rachel does not love you the way you love her. She will take all your money and run away with another man when she is tired of you"

"Let her. I am willing to give her 80% of my wealth"

Disappointment filled her face. She never expected Chad to say that. "What!? You are willing to give Rachel more money?"

"Yes"

"Have you gone mad already? She has blinded you with her love" she walked to him and tried to wrap her arms around his neck, but he grabbed her hand and dragged her out of his room. She did not still stop talking. "Chad you have to listen to me, I am the only one that loves you. I love you with all my heart" He pushed her out of his room and slammed and lock the door. "Chad, I swear I won't give up on you. I promise that I will fight for you until you are mine" she fell on the floor and began to cry.

Now, more hatred filled her heart for Rachel. "Rachel, I promise I will kill you" she said through her clenched teeth.

Next morning at the farm.

As expected, Rachel was packing the sugar cane stick when she heard the honking of a car. She thought it was Chad so she ran towards the car, but she stopped when she saw who it was.

"Expecting Chad?" Mina asked with a smile on her face. She wore a short white gown and a heels with a sunglasses. She was followed by a maid who was holding an umbrella over Mina's head protecting her from the sun

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to see who Chad is in love with and it's you" She looked at Rachel from up to down. "So disgusting"

"So what do you want?"

She removed her sunglasses and asked, "My name is..."

"Mina. Your name is Mina, right?"

Mina looked startled for a moment and she composed herself. "So you did a research on me, right?"

"No, Chad told me"
