9 Preparing For Chad's Birthday [3]

At kawayanan grill resturant.

"Please, just give me a job and I promise to do my best" Rachel said

"Am sorry miss, but we have no vacancy now" a young woman said

"Ma'am I am in need of money now please help me"

"Am sorry" she stood up to leave.

"Ma'am imagine your mother is on the sick bed and you have no money and no one to help you and this is the only way you can get money" tears started welling up in her eyes, "I know you can help me. My mother must not die. She is the only one I have. We are not rich and that's why I am doing everything to get money for my mother's sickness" she began to cry helplessly.

Johanna was just speechless then Rachel touched Johanna's feet lightly with her feet. She understood what she meant so she decided to play along with Rachel, "Rachel, I told you it is useless coming here. She won't help us. Let's go" she held Rachel's hand and helped her get up.

"I will help you" the young woman said.

Rachel and Johanna froze, "What did you say?"

"I said I will help you"

"Really? Thank you ma'am. We will forever be grateful to you" Rachel said with joy.

"Okay, follow me" she stood up and led them to the kitchen. "You will help them wash the dishes" she pointed at the dirty dishes in the sink.

"What about the money?"

"You will be paid tomorrow. I will talk to my boss so get to work now" she smiled and left. The two began to wash the dirty dishes.

At napsan palawan.

The two girls were already tired when they got home. Rachel looked at the time; it was eleven pm. She saw her mother sleeping on the couch. She walked to her and tapped her gently. She opened her eyes only to see Rachel.

"Rachel, where have you been? I have been waiting for you" she asked in a worried voice.

"Am sorry mom for making you wait. I went out with Johanna"

"To where?"

"Mom, it's late already. It's better for you to go to bed now"

"Yeah, am still feeling sleepy" she said and they went to bed.

Next morning at the Torres mansion.

The family came down to eat breakfast and chit-chatted but Chad did not talk, he only listened to them.

"Aunt,my friends will be here today for Chad's birthday" Mina said.

"Oh...and what about your mother? I kind of miss my best friend" she chuckled.

"I called her yesterday and she said she will arrive today too"

"Okay, I can't wait to see her" she said and turned to Chad, "Chad, your father will be back from South Korean.He will spend two weeks here before he leaves the Philippines"

"Mhm" he nodded.

Mr Torres had always been going from one country to another for his business. He never spent enough time with his family.

While eating, Mrs Torres suddenly remembered something and turned to Chad, "I have ordered for your suit and it will be delivered today. You will be turning twenty one tomorrow and I can't believe that one day my son will also get married and have his own family" she said and tears began to drop down her eyes.

"Aunt..."

"Mom, please don't cry" he immediately stood up, took out a tissue from his pocket and wiped her tears, "No matter what happens, I will never leave you. You are the greatest asset in my life"

"Aunt, you have ruined your make up already"

"Don't mind me. I was just too emotional" she smiled and held the two children hands, "I hope that one day, you will be together as one"

Chad immediately removed his hand, "Mom, what are you saying? Be together as one?" he gave a smirk smile. "Mom, it's too early to say nonsense"

"Nonsense? Are you saying getting married is nonsense?" she gave him a questioning look.

"No but marrying someone you don't love is nonsense"

Mina expression immediately changed. "Does he mean marrying me is nonsense?" she thought

Chad never liked Mina but Rachel so getting married to Mina is nonsense to him.

"What are you..."

"Mom, I need to go now. I don't want to be late for school" he gave his mom a peck and left the house.

Mina immediately stood up and ran after him, "Chad wait"

He stopped in his tracks and turned back, "Why?"

"We are going to school together, right?" she smiled.

Since she was in the Philippines, she had to continue schooling so she got admitted to the same school as Chad's. She would also have to go to school together with Chad.

"No. Get the other driver to take you to school" he turned to leave but immediately stopped, "I am not going to school now" with that he entered his car and the driver stepped on the pedal and the car drove off

Mina smile faded and sadness filled her face.

"Ma'am, can we go now?" the driver asked politely.

She wanted to yell at him but she suddenly remembered that no one will take her to school so she quietly followed him. The car left the mansion and drove towards her school.

At napsan, palawan.

Rachel immediately woke up when she heard her mom screaming, "Rachel, will you want to sleep the whole day? You are late for school already"

She immediately jumped down from the bed,ran into the bathroom, brush her teeth and shower. After showering, she wore her uniform and rushed out of her room. She was surprised when she saw Chad.

"Hey Chad, what are you doing here?"

"Taking you to school"

It had become Chad's habit to take Rachel to school.

Mrs beltran walked up to Rachel and twisted her ear, "Didn't I tell you not to stay up late?"

"Ouch mother, it hurts" she cried in pain.

She finally let go of her ear, "Do you know that Chad has been waiting for you? He even drank two cups of coffee while waiting"

"What?" her jaw immediately dropped down.

"He is also late for school because of you" her mother flicked her head hard.

She stood there dumbfounded, not knowing what to say.

"Will you still continue to wait there?" her mother shouted and she immediately came back down to earth. She followed Chad out of the house and entered the car then it drove off.

Mrs beltran knew how much Chad loves her daughter so she trusted her child with Chad.

In the jaguar XE.

"Your mother told me you came home late. Where did you go to?" he asked her as he looked into her eyes.

Will she tell him where she went to? She can't possibly tell him that she got a job at a restaurant just to get money to buy him a birthday gift. She turned her face away and said, "I went out with Johanna"

"What? You went out with Johanna?" his eyes widened. "What if something bad happen to you? Do you know how worried your mom will be? and do you know how worried I will be?" he scolded her.

This was the first time he scolded her like this. The drivers and body guards kept quiet when they saw how angry he was.

She lowered her head and bit her lower lip and said, "I am sorry"

"Sorry? I think I will have to talk to Johanna" he said angrily.

She raised her head, "No please, don't involve Johanna. I promise not to do it again" she felt a little melancholy

Chad saw how sad she was. "Okay, I won't involve Johanna"

Chad never wanted Rachel to be sad. He had always wanted to see her smile.

"Am sorry for shouting at you" he apologized. Her face expression did not still change. "I just don't want anything bad to happen to you" she was silent. He stared at her for ten seconds and finally said, "You have not eaten, right? I have some food here" he brought out a some dishes; Adobo, sisig, chicken Inasal and so on.

"Wow, it's too much" she smiled and began to eat.

Chad eyes were filled with love as he looked at Rachel eat.
