17 Anybody In Her Way Would Die

"No, Chad told me"

"He told you?" she asked and bit her lips.

"Yes"

"Do you know that I have been living with Chad for some weeks? I bet Chad did not tell you" she smiled.

"He did. You have known each other for a very long time, am I right?" she asked and smiled.

"Yeah"

"He told me everything about you so you don't need to tell me anything" she smiled.

Mina's actual plan was to make Rachel sad by telling her things about her and Chad, but her plan did not work.

She remembered something and she smiled maliciously, "I heard what Mrs Torres did to you the day you went to the mansion, I saw that she doesn't like you a bit" Rachel's face darkened immediately and Mina smiled seeing the expression on Rachel's face. She did not stop there, but she continued. "I don't blame aunt for doing that. She is only protecting her son from poor people like you who are gold digger. If I were you I will just give up"

Rachel lowered her head as she thought of what Mina said to her. Mina was expecting tears in her eyes, but to her surprised Rachel raised her head and a smile appeared on her face.

"I can't give up because Chad promised not to give up on me"

"You know aunt won't accept you"

"Yes, I know, but I will have to wait and I am sure she will learn to accept me"

"She won't because she only wants Chad for me" she smiled

"But Chad does not love you" she smiled and Mina's smile faded.

Just like what Johanna said, Mina was trying to steal Chad from Rachel. She had always wanted Chad and anybody in her way would die.

"If you don't have anything to say, I have a lot of work to do" she turned to leave. Mina reached out her hand and grabbed Rachel's arm forcefully. "Do you think you can be with Chad forever? Huh?"

"Yes"

She let out a smirk on her face and said, "Really? Let's watch and see who will have Chad later. Is it me or you?"

Was she declaring war? Oh no, this is going to be bad. Mina had promised herself to take Chad away from Rachel forever.

Rachel gently removed Mina's hand and said, "I don't have to fight with you to have Chad because Chad will forever be mine" she said calmly and Mina's smile faded.

"Are you scared? You are scared that I will take Chad away from you"

"Of course not, why should I be scared of you? I own Chad and Chad owns me"

Before Mina could say another word, they were interrupted by Johanna.

"Rachel, what are you doing there?" she looked at Mina from up to down and turned to Rachel. "Who is she?"

"Forget about it, let's go" she turned and left. Johanna stood there looking at Mina who later smiled at her. She knew something was wrong, but she don't know what it is. She turned to leave then suddenly remembered something. "I have seen this face before, but where?" she asked herself then she turned to Mina. "I saw you at Chad's birthday party. You are..."

"Mina" she answered almost immediately.

Johanna's eyes suddenly widened in surprise. "You are Mina?" she asked to be sure of what she heard.

"Yes, my name is Mina Sharon. You are Rachel's bestie?"

"Yes"

She looked at Johanna from up to down and finally said, "Such cheap people. They are all disgusting"

Johanna's face immediately darkened. "What did you say?"

"I said..."

Rachel immediately cut her off. "Johanna, let it go" she said and dragged Johanna with her. Mina showed a satisfying smile and turned and left.

At carpeDiem Torres.

Chad was sitting in his office. Now that he was the COO of carpeDiem Torres, as expected, he would have a lot of work on his plate. He was studying the daily operations of the business when he heard a knock on the door. "Come in" his soft, gentle voice sounded and the young girl came inside.

"Sir Chad, these are the product development you asked for" Joy smiled.

"Put it down" he said without looking at her face.

"Okay sir Chad" she said and dropped the file on the table and turned to leave then she stopped in her tracks and turned back with a smile on her face, "Sir Chad, do you need anything else?"

"No"

"Coffee, tea or wine"

"No"

"Sir Chad, I think you should drink something" she said still smiling.

He looked up at her with cold eyes. "Get out of my sight"

"I am sorry sir" she bow and ran out of the office. She never expected this handsome Chad to be this cold. Then the door opened again. "Didn't I tell you that I don't need anything"

"Really?"

He looked up when he heard the person's voice. He stood up and smiled, "Oh dad"

"Can I come inside because I can see that you are busy"

"Yes, you can dad" Mr Torres entered and sat on the chair opposite Chad. "Dad, what are you doing here?"

"To see how my son is doing" he said.

He leaned his back on the chair and said, "You can see that I am really enjoying my job" he said and smiled.

"Haha...i see" he nodded his head. Then he remembered something. "About that girl"

"Which girl?" he asked without looking at his father's face.

"That girl, what's her name again? Em...Rachel. Yes, Rachel"

Chad raised his head when he heard Rachel's name. "What about her?"

"I see you so much love her"

"Yes"

"Can you tell me about her, please"

Chad stared at his father for few seconds, leaned his back on the chair and sigh deeply, "Rachel is a simple girl, a loving and caring person. She has changed me totally. She is unique and she is not a girl that cares too much about material things. She might be a poor girl, but she has her value" he smiled and love filled his beautiful eyes. This was the first time Mr Torres saw him like this. He knew that Chad loves this girl with the whole of his heart.

"My life is complete only with Rachel. She has made me again. I love her so much. She taught me how to laugh and smile. She taught so many things about life"

Chad looked at his father only to find him crying. He walked to him and asked, "Dad, are you okay? Did I say anything bad?" he was surprised when he saw his father crying. Mr Torres is a strong man, but now he was behaving like a woman.

He immediately wiped his tears, "This is the first seeing you talk like this. You know, when you were young, you were so cold and arrogant and you never cared about any girl, but now I can see that you have changed. I hope to see Rachel soon" he smiled as he looked at his son.

"Of course, soon"

"Okay, I will go now. I have so many things to do, I just came to see how you are doing" he stood up and left.

Later in the afternoon at the farm.

Chad parked beside the farm and waited for Rachel. They finally entered the car and Chad gave Rachel a bottled water to drink. She collected it and drank half of it in almost three seconds. Chad seeing her rushing the water knew she was tired.

"You must be tired. I will tell mom to give you a week break. You and aunt" he said with a gentle, calm voice.

"What about our salary?"

"You will still be paid"

She knew Chad would do it if she agreed so she immediately waved her hand in the air, "No need"

"Auntie, are you sure you don't need it" he turned and looked at Mrs beltran.

"No need, Chad. We are fine"

"Okay" he took a small towel and began to wipe Rachel's sweat, then he saw a finger mark bruises on her arm. His eyes darkened and they became cold immediately. Rachel saw his cold face and asked, "What happened?"

He grabbed her arm, looking at the bruises asked, "What happened to your arm?" his voice was cold and you should see how mad he was.

She removed her hand and put it behind her. "Nothing" she lied. She couldn't tell him that she had an argument with Mina this morning. He would probably go crazy.

"Nothing?" he let out a smile but his voice was still cold.

"Mina came to the farm today and I think she did that" Johanna said. She saw Mina with Rachel this morning so she knew that Mina did this to her.

Johanna did not like Mina so she wanted Chad to teach her a lesson. She knew that anybody that hurt Rachel would get into trouble.

Chad's eyes grew darker and darker and his voice became colder and colder. "Is it true?"

"No, don't believe Johanna. I just hit my hand on something when I was working on the farm" she lied because she knew that Chad would not let Mina go easily.

"Do you think I am a fool? This mark on your hand is someone's finger mark"

"No.. em..."

"I don't want to hear anything from you" his voice was cold.

"Chad please don't do anything. Just forget it and let it go"

"Let it go!" this time he shouted. "People step on you because you are too nice, but I am not like you. I am different from you"

"Chad please..."

"Say no more" he immediately cut her off and she kept her mouth shut.

He clenched his fist and brushed the back of his hand underneath his chin. Rachel looked into his eyes and found anger burning in his eyes.
