7 Edgar Brauss Magic Academy For All Boys: Quadrant I

They now stood at an exit portal which was tucked between the first and second quadrants of the school district. Or, essentially, the all-boys academies.

Nakayama currently saw in front of him an open terrain of grass and trees decorated by flowers, benches, and a massive, lone water fountain. There were also tiled paths that intersected at many points and led to four massive buildings that were all part of the same campus.

Massive. Buildings.

The schools themselves were at least a kilometer away from each other due to both their immense size and the fact that space for both in and outside magic training was required for each school. For about ten thousand students.

"Welcome to the second quadrant of the City of Edgar Brauss, Mr. Tadashii." Lea welcomed the teenager. She then turned around to face the two buildings, prompting Nakayama to do the same. "To the left is the school you'll be attending, and in the distance to the right is the second all-boys academy."

When Nakayama saw the massive school that stood before him, his jaw dropped.

"A-ah…!"

A tall building, that had to be at least ten stories high, towered above the teenager and his principal. It was made out of stainless steel, ultimately giving off a rich atmosphere. It contained a plethora of perfectly reflective glass windows. It was incredibly difficult to see what was inside the school due to both the reflectiveness as well as the fact that they were tinted ever so slightly. There existed a large set of double doors that acted as the entrance to the school and were accessible by a small set of stairs that were also made out of stainless steel. The doors themselves were mostly made of glass.

"Th-this is the school I'm going to for the rest of the year!?" he thought to himself, almost unable to believe the luxurious look that the outside of the academy presented.

"What you see now is what is known as the Edgar Brauss Magic Academy For All Boys." Lea informed Tadashii, never once dropping her professional tone. "There are ten stories, 5 meant for academic purposes, and the final 5 act as dormitories built to accommodate a little over 3,000 students. As you can imagine, such space is necessary for our purposes."

"...Awesome…!"

All four of the academies looked relatively the same, and surrounding the open grassy campus in which the schools were held was a forest-like setting. Obviously, the circular surrounding forest was quite the distance away from the schools, but it was still beautiful. It was almost as if the entire second quadrant of the City of Edgar Brauss was on an isolated little island with no means of leaving or entering. Obviously, that wasn't the case considering the fact that warp stations existed in order to get from the second to whatever quadrant desired. Though there really was no reason to go to the first or fourth quadrant of Edgar Brauss, and you'd probably just be kicked out for being there if there was even anyone there to kick you out.

"Please follow me," Lea instructed, beginning to move towards the very small set of stairs that existed before the large, glass double doors of the academy.

"A-ah! Yes, ma'am!" Nakayama said as he gripped his suitcases and began moving behind her.

As she began to walk up the stainless steel stairs, something donged on the young Tadashii.

"...Great, now I've got to beat the hell out of these nice stairs." he thought to himself, knowing he'd have to drag the suitcases up the stairs, letting the wheels hit them. And as he made his way to them, they did just that.

Thoomp. Thoomp. Thoomp.

Many times, a sound of impact hit the stainless steel stairs as the two walked them. Just behind that loud impact was the sound of heels clacking on the stairs as well.

"Our first course of action, Mr. Tadashii, is to get you fitted for your new uniform."

"...I-engh! I...I see…" he responded, still struggling to pull his suitcases up the stairs. "Damn it, why isn't there some kind of ramp!?"

"You are the only student in the first school quadrant who has transferred from a distant location. It is only natural that there would be no ramps, considering you are likely the only student who feels he should bring such an amount of items from home."

Since he had no idea about what he'd be able to buy or live off of in the City of Edgar Brauss, he had to make over-preparations in order to ensure he'd be able to get by. Students who are already from this city would likely only bring one suitcase and then purchase whatever else they might need from the third quadrant.

Finally, Nakayama, nearly sweating from his hard work, reached the glass double doors, to which they then opened upon the pair's presence.

"Oh, they were automatic," Nakayama repeated in his head what he saw before him, wiping his forehead in case there was any sweat.

As they walked in, Nakayama noticed a distinct desolate atmosphere. From the left to right walls, the distance was probably half that of an entire American football field. When they walked through the door, the first place they arrived was the cafeteria.

It was vast. Quite possibly the largest eatery Nakayama had ever seen in his entire existence, and how unnaturally clean it was.

That was another way magic could be used. It could be used to keep things tidy, so he assumed he'd just have to go ahead and get used to not worrying about filthy environments.

"Here we are on the first floor." Lea began. "The main things you need be concerned about are my office and the cafeteria. You'll find elevators scattered throughout the building, so please make use of them. Of course, if you prefer, you're welcome to walk up a few dozen sets of stairs each passing day."

Tadashii felt something inside him drop.

"Though, I highly doubt you'd want to do something like that. Now then."

She began to walk forward once more, walking past and in between several cafeteria tables to which Nakayama and his three suitcases followed in pursuit. It was quite the juxtaposition, seeing a seemingly elegant woman walking in such a professional matter while a young boy follows in her wake as clumsy as a Jenga tower.

"I've already informed the fitting staff of your arrival, so that is where our next destination is," she said, reaching a long hallway. As Nakayama finally caught up to her, he stared down the long narrow hall. It was insane just how many doors existed there. On this single hallway alone, there must have been, at least, 50 doors leading to different rooms, not including things like janitor's and electrician's closets.

They began to walk down the hallway.

"Ms. Akayoru?" Nakayama began to inquire. "So, could you tell me how, like, class change works and stuff?"

"Class change does not exist."

"...What?"

Ms. Akayoru sighed briefly before assuming her professional tone and stature. "Well, perhaps I should start here. There are around 150 classrooms in this school, but they all do the same thing. Their only purpose is simply to split up the students as to not overwhelm the instructor, understand?"

"Ah...no, not really. What about studies and stuff? Like, math and English?"

She sighed again, only this time Tadashii caught on to her frustration. It somewhat embarrassed him that he was putting enough pressure on her for her to express her frustration right in front of a student. Or maybe she wasn't as professional as he thought.

"You really know nothing of this city, do you? Alas, I suppose it's alright." she sighed. "Normal studies from the first to the eighth year of a student's career no longer applies in a magic academy, see? The only things we "study" here are magic arts, that is all. Though, we are not stopping you from doing your own traditional academic studying."

Tadashii gasped and almost lost his balance when he heard what she had to say.

"W-wait!" he said. "You mean I don't have to stay up till midnight studying for some stupid math test anymore?"

"Not for a math test, though you might find-..."

Suddenly, she stopped in reaction to Tadashii. He was walking beside her with his eyes shut tight and a gigantic smile on his face. He seemed to no longer be paying attention to her as if he was caught up in his own celebratory thoughts.

"You're not listening to me are you?" she asked, somewhat disappointed.

What she was going to say was this:

There were about 150 classrooms within the entire school. This meant, mathematically speaking, there were about 25 to 30 classrooms on each floor starting from the first through the fifth. And, since there were no traditional academic studies, that meant that class change was unnecessary considering the fact that every classroom was technically doing the same thing, though perhaps at their own pace. It looked as if there were about 50 classrooms down this single hallway, but that was simply untrue. There were, in fact, about 10 to 20 of them, as the rest of them were down a different hallway on this floor, but several of those doors belonged to singular faculty restrooms, janitor's closets, teacher's lounges, and other miscellaneous rooms Tadashii needed not to worry about.

"We are here," she said after about 20 to 30 seconds of walking. Not listening, Nakayama began walking right past her, but she put her hand on his shoulder to wake him up from his internal celebration.

"Hopeless child," she said in her head.

"Eh? Oh, uh, is this it?" he questioned, trying to pretend he'd listened to every word she uttered.

What they stood before was a set of double doors, each with rectangular glass panes on them, making it easy to see inside. The room was lit, so there was clearly someone in there as opposed to the other rooms which were producing no light. Next to the door read:

Room 1A 25. (Floor 1, Hallway A, Room 25)

"This is one of the fitting rooms," Lea informed as she reached her hand out to grab the handle.
