Chapter 71: Joint Class Selection Matches

[Gritonnia Academy, Arena]

Thus the day of the selection matches begin, for this occasion the academy itself rented the arena for a while week of the selection

For a week the academy will choose among the students of second years about 4 students that will participate in the joint tournament of the five schools, with that everyone was greatly motivated just by imagining the honor of being selected

Being selected actually has benefits of its own mainly if your selected you will be the center of attention of the school, second you will get to fight strong opponent's, and third you can prove to be the very best

With it being selected was quite infamous title for everyone

For this day after the initial announcement of the principal, the students itself now started to head over to the arena that was reserved by the academy for the second years

Upon reaching the spectators crowd sits, the whole Class Beta however seemed to have planned on sitting near each other even though they are quite spread out

Surprisingly from the numbers of students from Class Alpha which numbered for 12 students was no comparative number of Class Beta which was also 12 students, But for the Class Delta and Class Gamma their students numbered as such 30 students from Class Delta and 45 students for Class Gamma

From their seating arrangement Shun could even determine some of the students has started to form groups of their own

As for him, Sephiria, and Aria all three of them decided to  sit at the far top of the class to no get a high view of the arena

With it the arrangements of seat was Aria, Sephiria, Shun

From at this spot Shun could somehow see the whole arena which was as big as an airport platform, due to its size the arena was functioned to display a close up confrontation from different angles coming from the fight itself through the use of a Lacrima a type of crystal that can serve as a display TV screen

As he soon thought of having a smooth playthrough a sudden call out resounded

"Oi!"

From that Shun directed his gaze towards the owner of it and saw Wendy was walking towards them while having the five capture targets follow her around including Cedric

"Hey guys!" Greeted Wendy as he proceeded to sit beside Shun followed by Cedric sitting beside her

As for the other four, seeing the initiative of Wendy freely sitting beside someone else other than them, she on other hand introduced them

"Well... . . You remember them"

"Yeah! I remember them clearly its Elliot, Stan, Emille, Kaiser" replied Shun

"So you remembered" stated Wendy in amazement

"Of course" replied Shun

At that both Sephiria and Aria started greeting Wendy as well together with Cedric

When Cedric himself saw Sephiria being fired up even though she saw him, he begun to expect some results as a proof that Sephiria herself was already strong enough to protect herself

As for the other four, they seemed perplexed as they saw Wendy casually talking with a Bunche of Beta Class student, especially Shun who got the opportunity to sit beside Wendy, thus with great irritation and loss they decided to sit beside Cedric instead accordingly

When that was done they eventually recognized Sephiria and started to direct their irritation to her

"Your Shun right?" Asked Elliot haughtily

"Uh! Yes... . . " Replied Shun

"What kind of response is that? Are you even man? Show some power into your words" complained Kaiser

"Sure! Whatever" states Kaido as he cross his arms

"If that so then I think that your quite unfortunate to have a defect together with you and a commoner right?... . . Wait! I guess you do belong in that group, since your also a commoner" Said Stan as he tried to stir things up

Upon hearing this Sephiria seemed to scowl behind Shun together with Aria in a shamed expression, as for Wendy and Cedric they somehow realized that they were trying to instigate a fight between them and take advantage of that fight or humiliate Shun and his group of friends

At first Wendy tried to stop them but Cedric on the other hand stopped her doing so as he was curious on how shun will handle this

"Well... . . It's not like they're situation would is at dire right?" Asked Shun

"What do you mean" asked Emille

"I mean is that, if that was the case then we have nothing to lose compared to you nobles who seemed like as fragile as glass and quite frantic by just trying to protect your house same honour and not shame them" stated Shun

"!!!"

"By my guess is that if i ever fought against any of you, I can say that I'm a 100% sure that I can beat you down, meaning I'm also 100% sure that your honour that your trying to protect would be broken thus bringing shame into your household name" added Shun

"What!!! Are you underestimating us? How dare you!!!" Growled Kaiser

"No how dare you! You and your uptight screw loosed men who are trying their best to get Wendy's attention... . . But since I'm generous enough I'll tell you this... I'll mop the floor with you" said Shun confidently

"Hoh!"

With this provocation plus the facts that shun was throwing at them that says nobles has a huge burden than the commoners, greatly antagonized the other four capture targets who seemed to be comfortably lac in their lazy life of being a rich person

Thus with this provocation he managed to divert the ire of the four capture targets away from Sephiria and Aria, instead be focused on him

A self sacrifice

After that both Wendy and Cedric was surprised by the way shun handled it thus giving him a thumbs up from Cedric and a cheeky smile from Wendy

With that the match finally started as bunch of students from the Delta Class and Gamma Class started cheering altogether as they support their picked winner

Soon after winners was now highlighted and approvingly proceed to further wait for the next qualifying matches, while losers for some reason finally lost their chances of being picked to win the tournament

Soon after Cedric was called and was matched against a scrawny guy from the Gamma Class, of course with the fact that Cedric was also a capture target and a reincarnator gave him a boost as he successfully proceed for the qualifying matches

After that one by one the capture targets were now competing against the other students, but the most disappointing of all was that Rachel was matched against Wendy at the few matches after the capture targets

With Wendy's elemental magic against Rachel's literature Magic, the match concluded by a win for Rachel as she completely dominated the matches due to her complicated and yet powerful spells

When Wendy returned she suddenly bawled her eyes out as she cried for her loss, of course the others tried to console her especially Sephiria and Aria who have grown close to Wendy over the few weeks

But what's funny of all was that when Cedric handed over his handkerchief, Wendy unexpectedly blew with all her might on Cedric handkerchief, and by the time she returned it, Cedric on the other hand was quite perplexed on what to do to the current wet and slimy handkerchief

With this they all drew back away from him, causing to be frantic as he quickly ran and search for a trash can before returning to his seat

Soon after Aria was called upon as she was matched against a girl from Delta Class

Apparently the enemy was rather mediocre at best as she was proficient in using healing spells and supports spells, thus with Aria's consent, she involuntarily won the match without ever fighting

"Well... . . That was a turn off" commented Shun

"Agreed! Why can't I have that weak girl as my opponent?" Pouted Wendy causing Shun to look at her full of pity

After that match three more matches passed by before Sephiria's turn came up and was matched against another girl from a Gamma Class

Of course the four capture targets were there to find faults at her, while Cedric concentrates on her soon to showed improvements according to Shun which is quite contrary to both Wendy's and Aria's cheering faces

With a signal the girl immediately chanted as sparks of electricity started gathering up from above her which caused students to loudly cheer for her

As everyone cheered intensely a sudden changed it atmosphere suddenly silenced everyone as Sephiria was now combining both her fire attribute, and ice attribute magic resulting to a new element call frost fire

What's more surprising was that Sephiria didn't even chant a single word to cast this, plus with the ring that Shun brought her and the clothes the he also gave to her, the overall stats of Sephiria was already enough to qualify her if used wisely

With the contrast of an electrical ball against a frost fire plasma, it was already apparent who won

Soon when two spells collided a huge explosion suddenly rung out as the girl from the Gamma Class surrendered upon witnessing the terrain changing spell of Sephiria which cause 2/3 of the arena be burned at the same time frozen

With that unexpected development Sephiria advances to the qualifying matches leaving Shun as the sole examinee left to haven't matched up yet

But after a few minutes for repairing the arena to the starting point, Shun was finally called out as he got matched against an 8 foot tall giant brawny man with muscles bulging on his arms, chest, and legs

Apparently this guy came from Delta Class as their class expected the brawny tall guy to crush the scrawny short guy named Shun

Of course at the same time Shun was being observed by the people that took him seriously or have heard of him

With the signal strati g the match, the Delta-class guy immediately applied transformation magic which turned his whole body as hard as a pure orichalcum metal

With a drew back, the Delta-class guy punched Shun with an upper swing followed by a huge tackle which caused Shun to fly backwards a little bit

But it didn't end there as the Delta-class guy actually jumped to him and tried to do somethings similar to smash drop

Luckily Shun saw through that as he stumbled forward to dodge the drop, turned, stepped up, and deliver a fatal gut punch

Coupled with his enormous strength stats, the Delta-class guy arched in pain that he wasn't expecting at all

After he scowled down, Shun however didn't permit that at all as he kicked his face with great strength that snapped the Delta-class guy's attention back to the match

After that he continuously punched the face of the guy despite it's hard orichalcum steel hurting Shun's knuckles that it started to bleed at a moment's notice

Of course the Delta-class guy tried to retaliate, but Shun easily brushed his counter aside as he aimed at his joints by punching his arms away and kicking his legs back down to prevent him from kicking

Soon after the Delta-class guy fell off balance as Shun took this opportunity to beat the Delta-class guy to a pulp and making him unable to continue

With that Shun got on top of the Delta-class guy as he pulled his collar and continouesly punched him straight to the face over and over again as blood started to seep out of Shun's knuckles

Soon after the Delta-class guy lost his consciousness thus declaring that the battle was over

Unfortunately instead of cheering and applauding, every student from his friends, classmates, and schoolmates apparently saw Shun in his different state

Of course the only one who didn't got gaze by it was Sephiria as she already saw Shun this way back when he was fighting

Surprisingly Shun would always change in attitude whenever he fights

When relaxed he would always emits a playful aura which everyone got used to, but by the time he fights for real, then he would emit something like a dangerous aura of having numerous near life and death battle situation

Unknown to them Shun was always every night was put in a life and death simulation battle, thus when he concentrates on fighting his aura would change dramatically and made him even more dangerous from before

With that Shun left the stage and headed back towards the Beta Class

Of course within this short course of a fight, the people who have shown great promise in the previous fights finally looked at shun with great caution as they included him to the people who are at most unpredictable and dangerous at the same time

What's more was that news spread quickly as Shun beat down a person with magic by using brute strength alone and no magic included

Thus in turn such topic became the most talked as one of the supposed to be an impossible feat

But soon after Shun returned to his seat, all of the students gaze fell upon him as if seeing a rare creature for the first time

With that out of worry Sephiria hurried over and healed Shun's knuckles this ending the elimination round thus proceeding to the qualification the next day

"Looks like the drawing attention succeeded, with this the opponent's will become wary of me, which is a good thing in case if I became famous due to it's display of strength" thought Shun to himself

With that in mind, Shun found himself smiling at some point as he anticipated the next day In which he was sure to be another great match as only the strong ones will be participating
