Chapter 37: The Duke's Daughter

[Kartrik City, Duke's Territory]

A week has passed since both Leah and Shun left Ruric Town when they finally arrived at kartrik City, a city that was managed by a Duke inside his fiefdom

Comparing the territory of the Duke from a Viscount was like heaven and Earth, the Duke's territory was so wide that before they arrived they have to pass some small villages to get here, luckily the travel was unhindered and only small amount of monsters dared to attack their carriage that was guarded by a land shark

Inside the city square Leah bid Shun farewell as they parted ways, apparently Shun's destination was farther from Leah and he had to go still towards up to the mountain woods to get to the Duke's manor

"Alright this is where we will split" said Leah

"Guess so... . . Take care of yourself" said Shun

"No problem... . . I'll be just in city for a month, if you ever want anything just visit our company's building and say your acquainted with me" replied Leah

"Hah! As if that is easy... . . I'm pretty sure when I say that to the guards they wouldn't believe me" replied Shun

After they exchanged some few little words they parted ways, soon Shun has to take a long hike before he get to the Manor, apparently the reason for it's location was for strategic reasons, a life of a Duke is important so they have to be extra safe and extra careful thus leaving its location to be somewhat away in a safe location

Even though it's a hike it was not that much of a burden on Shun as he only need to activate Ghost spell to speed things up, coupled it up with his enhanced agility in his stats, due to him allocating the points to his stats, he became like a new person who have underwent a huge change

This time it seems muscles could be seen in his arms and abs are started forming in his stomach area, slowly but surely not only his stats are growing and making him strong, his body in turn is also adapting causing him to last longer and his stamina expanding

When he arrived he only needed to show the recommendation letter of the Duke to the guards before the latter brought him towards the Duke and his wife who received a notification of his arrival

Upon entering the Manor, he was so stunned on how much grandiose the place is and much more fancier than the Duke that he couldn't help but be amazed

As he took his sit opposite of the Duke and his wife, the interrogation that he was expecting started just like a typical job interview or so he thought...

"Welcome! Welcome! You must be Shun I presume?... . . "

"Ah!... . . Ah yes um sir!" Replied Shun

Apparently the aura that the Duke was emitting was much more respectable than the Viscount which made him stutter a little, he even thought that maybe the reason for this was the difference of position

As he thought that a voice coming from Yuumi spoke to him telepathically

"You know... . . If you ever say that in front of the viscount, he will kill you"

"That's impossible... . . He have to spend a week before arriving! I have enough time to prepare a contingency plan for that" replied Shun telepathically

"That's why I said in front of him... . . " Stated Yuumi indicating her words

"... . . Oh!... . . " Reacted Shun as he noticed her meaning causing him to smile wryly

At the same time the Duke introduced himself and his wife

"My name is Alan and this is my wife Cecile, apparently due to circumstances our daughter can't meet you face to face but you can regard of her as your temporary student" said Duke Alan

Fortunately when Shun gazed at his wife Cecile he found out that she was actually quite attractive causing him to close his eyes and nod

"The council of men approves" he thought

After that he returned his attention towards the Duke as he said

"Your daughter or sole daughter is the one I'm going to teach..."

"Yes... . . Her name is Sephiria Maelstrom, you can even call her by her nickname as Sephy if she ever let you of course... . . But calling her name like that indicates that she has grown fond of you" added Duke Alan

"And may I ask what is your daughter circumstances?" Probed Shun as he try to get more information

But this the his wife answered him

"Sephiria our daughter has a lot of Mana which would make any parents proud but due to that she had a hard time controlling and even conjuring any spells, sometimes when she try to create a spell it would only blow up since she can't efficiently control her Mana" she said

"This time at her school something must have happened which Completely made her unmotivated and gloomy... . . When I try to dig into it, I found out was that she had an affair with a rival towards the prince, apparently this girl which has medium amount of Mana but is much more proficient in controlling it and has higher grades than her peers was also in love with the prince like her" added Duke Alan

"Every daughter of the Duke dreamt of being in a prince side... . . My daughter was no exception... . . Apparently she had a quarrel and a fight with that particular Duke's daughter causing the prince to intervene" said Cecile

"The prince however was fond of that particular daughter due to her achievements compared to our daughter who was unlike her couldn't achieve anything cause of her circumstances" she Said dejectedly

"Due to that the prince sided with that girl and argued with our daughter... . . What's more he even said to her that "why would I like someone who is a defect?"" Stated Duke's Alan as he felt a pain in his heart from saying that phrase

Even Shun was shocked by that phrase and even thought that somehow the prince has gone too far

"No wonder! Every woman that would be told of that but the person she loves would be hurt just by hearing that... . . Poor girl" he thought

"So how old is your daughter?" He asked

"About the same age as you... . . Or close I think! 18 she's 18 yrs old"

At that reply Shun was shocked to hear that they're daughter was close to his age, apparently in this world they followed the rule of being adult on the age of eighteen, which in turn quite different from his thought of other world custom of being adult at the age of sixteen

"What's more... . . She was hurt when she received the news that the prince has decided to receive that particular girl to be his fiancee and would announce it during his birthday" stated Duke Alan

"Ooh! That's must have hurt her a lot" reacted Shun

"Just as you speculated... . . So I'm entrusting you to be a tutor of my daughter to improve her, after all I received positive view of you from the Viscount as he said that your the fastest ranker yet in his territory... . . Can I leave it up to you?" He asked

Without further ado Shun stood up and decided

"You can leave it up to me!"

At that reply both the Duke and his wife thanked Shun for his effort before leading him towards the room of their daughter

"This is her room!" Said the Duke

As he said that his wife knocked on her daughter's door

"Sephy? Dear? The tutor that we hired is here... . . He would help you were sure"

But as soon as she said that a low volumed voice reply which seemed to be tired at some point

"Go away! It's useless anyway... . . Nothing would change"

Hearing her dejectedly and sad daughter's voice, her mother was in turn felt bitter and hurt wishing that if she could share her burden but Duke Alan laid a hand on her shoulder as he motioned her

"Let's leave it up to him... . ."

As he said that his wife nodded before they left the hall, when the Duke glance at Shun the latter immediately nodded indicating that he would try

As they left Yuumi suddenly sprung out of nowhere as she said

"Well this is a problem! I didn't think that this request would have this kind of difficulty inspite not being in battle" she said nonchalantly

"Yeah! I agree! I don't even know how to handle this... . ." Agreed Shun as he sighed before knocking

"Sephy! It's me your tutor... . . Can I speak to you?"

But as he said that the girl angrily replied

"Who are you to call me nonchalantly by my nickname? I don't even know who you are!!! Don't think that because they hire you that you can use my nickname!!!" She replied angrily

Hearing that Shun was a little bit flustered causing Yuumi to comment

"Feisty girl isn't she?"

"Yeah!"

With that in mind Shun decided to call her in other form

"Alright! Since you don't want me to call you by your nickname, then you don't have a problem if I address you as princess!"

"Do what you want!" Replied the girl

"Alright princess would you talk to me face to face? Because if you don't we won't get anywhere and your time of improving would be wasted" stated Shun

As he said that the girl replied

"Go away"

This time Shun couldn't help but smile wryly, but he didn't give up and promptly used another tactic to fly up towards the window

As he flew up towards the window from the outside using Yuumi as a leverage, he lightly landed unto the floor which made the girl be surprised

"Ho... . .how?"

But instead of replying Shun was stunned for a moment as he gazed at her attractive red Ruby eyes coupled with her long blonde hair and her fair skin that almost look like she was a vampire princess or a princess from a huge kingdom

The only deficiency she got was her Mana and her control magic which caused for her being discriminated

Only one word popped up Shun's mind when he saw her

"Beautiful!"

Even if he knew that he was perplexed that their status was far apart as he was a commoner and she is a Duke's daughter so he out that thought behind him and face the current problem

"Hey princess! So how about... . ."

But before he could finish the girl actually used the recoil explosion from her failed spell to blew him out of the window and landing on his back squashing Yuumi underneath him

"Uuuhhh! Ouch you heavy!" Groaned Yuumi

"That's because I'm bigger you dolt!" Groaned Shun as he moved over

"That's because your a human!" Retorted Yuumi

"And your a cat!" Retorted back Shun

"A magical cat!"

"I don't care!!!"

After recuperating from the fall he returned towards her rooms door as he deducted that flying through the window was not an option, as for Yuumi after that fall she returned to the book reasoning that she was truly hurt leaving Shun to tackle the problem alone

"Useless cat!" He grumbled

After that he stood in front of the door as he said

"Alright princess... . . Since you don't want to leave your room then I wouldn't leave too" he shouted

"Go away! Already!" Shouted back by the girl

"Nope no can do! If your stubborn then I'll show you how stubborn a gamer really is!" Replied Shun

"....."

After receiving no reply he continued

"If you won't get out then I wouldn't move... . . I'll stay in front of your door until you open the door" he loudly stated

"Didn't I say for you to leave? Why are you not listening?" She shouted

"Then why aren't you listening when I said I won't leave?... . . This time I won't leave until you face me princess... . . No matter how long, I'll just have to wait for you... . . Waiting isn't a hard job at all, so you can take all the time you need to recuperate but I'll still be here, I wouldn't leave you until you face me... . ." Stated Shun

After getting no reply Shun smirked Skittle as he said

"Alright princess let's start the waiting game!" Announced shun as he took a sit and leaned on her door waiting for her to come out

This in turn was actually done true by him as he actually didn't leave and only left to go to the toilet and leave a summon to guard the door, but otherwise he spent day and night leaning against her door waiting for her for to come out for three straight whole days

Just as he said, he wouldn't leave her until she face him head on, which in turn started their odd relationship of being a student and a tutor
