I: The Accident

"Are you sure about this, Julian? You know, you could just sit this one out. Everything will be fine."

A man in his mid-twenties spoke up as he tried to convince Julian to sit this one race, as he knew their opponents cheated as the race progressed. Julian, their best racer, shook his head as he entered the car and smiled at the man.

"I will be fine, Lucas. Stop nagging already. You nag more than my actual mother."

Lucas smacked him on the head and shook his head. He knew his words couldn't stop Julian from taking a part in this race.

"Okay. Just be careful and remember everything that we had talked about during the meeting."

Julian saluted at his childhood friend as he started the engine of the car before settling down for comfort, looking straight to the dark road in front of him. That day wasn't that particularly dark, but because of the heavy rains from days ago, the skies were still black.

A little of rain from here and there but nothing as heavy as days ago. Julian sighed as he gripped the steering wheel and took a deep breath before pressing hard on the gas pedal, letting the car roared at its mightiest.

His friends cheered for him as they prepared everything that was necessary for this race. Remembering everything that they did and talked about during the meeting last Wednesday. When everything was prepared and ready, Julian was ready as well.

The green flag was waving, and the girls stood side by side with the man in front of both cars. One in yellow while the other one was in white. Julian was the one riding inside of the white car. The color represented purity and his mother's love.

With this last race, Julian dedicated it to his dead mother.

"Ready!"

Both cars roared with anger as Julian steadied the gear before inserting it to primera.

"Set!"

His opponent looked at the innocent-looking college student as he smirked and prepared himself for the biggest event of his career.

"Go!"

Julian pressed the gas pedal as the car roared at high speed and passed the other car immediately. A bit of cursing from his opponent before stepping up his game and tried to catch up with the white car in front of him.

"Your skills never ceased to amaze me, Flash."

They gave the name Flash to Julian by how much strength, power and speed that he had the moment he entered any car given to him. A nature grant skill and it pissed off many people. But Julian never cared about any of them.

To be honest, Julian never really cared about racing at all. He was more of a chill guy on a late afternoon in the middle of the summer while his father sold his goods to his loyal customers. The scenery that he was used to seeing was what he imagined every single time he was being stressed with racing or school works.

The country side was his favorite place to visit. It was the only memory that he had from his mother. Other than that, there was nothing else. His childhood friend was the one who influenced him to race with his friends.

At first, Julian was reluctant. Because, as long as his memories were correct, racing was the reason that his father almost died. And his friend knew everything about that, but he reassured the young man that everything will be okay.

With more convincing and some stories from his uncle, Julian finally said yes and here he was, showing off at his last race before going back to college and focus on his studies. Drag racing was not a career choice for him since they were barely money being produced from it.

He turned the wheel to the right as he drifted from corner to corner of the narrow uphill road. He could hear fans screaming his name and cheering for him as he left his opponents with dust and black smoke coming from his car's exhaust.

The wheel turned to its rightful place as the car sped up, leaving a few more meters from his opponent's car.

"See you at the finish line, old man!"

Julian's car roared up and sped up as he passed on the curves and the downhills of the entire course. While his opponent slowed down as he smirked and took his walkie-talkie and pressed 1 to talk to his friends.

"Little bitch sped up. It's time."

A brief laugh answered on the other line as the voice said that everything was prepared and ready to deliver. The innocent Julian sped up even more than he passed down a board with a weird-looking sign. The sign board said to slow down.

Julian did, but as he did it, a flash of bright light welcomed him and before he turned his car around, the other people on the other side overheard a loud crash. Turned out, Julian was nearing where the race started and was about to win, if it wasn't for that bright light.

As soon as they heard the crash, Julian's friends rushed towards the crash and they witnessed of what it left of Julian. The white car was totaled and Julian's remains were spluttered all throughout the crash.

Lucas screamed as he rushed to his dead friend while his other friends tried to stop him. They all looked at their opponent, who was looking at the huge accident with eyes wide open. A prank. It was just supposed to be a prank to give Julian a lesson. Since the young man had become an arrogant little fucktard when he kept winning all of his races.

The opponents looked at their other members with tears in their eyes as they watched the scene with dead eyes and suffocating breaths. They would all go to jail and be sentenced with a death penalty for manslaughter and accessory to the crime.

They all knew that, but they still went with it. Sirens of blue and red light came from a distance as they stood frozen to their place and waited for their convictions.

The great Julian Yang. The famous drag racer was no longer with them. His legacy would remain in their hearts as Lucas poured his heart out, calling for his friend's name and asking for his forgiveness.

As the racers cry and police arrested the perpetrator, a glitch slowly appeared from a distant and spoke up.
