The minute that Dahlia woke up, she knew something was wrong.

To begin with, she didn't even remember going to sleep. All she remembered was that the night before, after she left work and went home, she discovered there was a new app on her phone that she didn't remember installing.

It was called 'Transmigration System Buddy' and the icon was a simple blue square. Confused, she at first tried to delete the app, but no matter how many times she tried she could not get rid of it.

In the end, despite knowing that it was somewhat suspicious, her curiosity got the better of her and she finally clicked the app open.

Upon clicking on the app, the first thing she was greeted with was a white screen and a bunch of text. It was something like the terms and conditions she'd seen before from other apps, so she didn't bother reading it all and simply scrolled to the bottom to click on the 'I've read the terms and I agree' button.

Nobody ever actually read those things anyways, so she figured it would be fine.

[Oh, you're awake!]

Suddenly, a loud voice interrupted her thoughts.

Dahlia shot up from her bed, her eyes frantically blinking as she surveyed her surroundings to try and find the person who had spoken to her.

[Silly, you can't see me. I'm in your head.]

Wait.

"What the fuck?" Dahlia whispered, eyes wide in disbelief.

[Swearing already? Wow.]

~Who… what are you?

[I'm the Transmigration System Buddy, but you can just call me Buddy.]

~You mean… you're the weird app that was on my phone last night?

[Yes… but… you should know who I am. Didn't you read the terms and conditions?]

~Uh…

[Oh no. Not again… why doesn't anyone ever read those properly?]

~Um…

[Oh well… let me just explain it to you then. Dahlia, congratulations! You are one of the lucky few that have been chosen to participate in the Transmigration System challenges!]

~Okay…

[I, the Transmigration System Buddy, will be transporting you to different worlds so you can complete your challenges. To successfully return to your original world, you will have to complete all of the challenges. Meaning, if you do not complete every challenge, you will never be able to return home.]

[And before you get any ideas, every challenge has to be completed with a ranking of C or higher to be counted as successful. If you get a D or lower, you will have to repeat the challenge until you get a higher rank. In total there will be 10 challenges.]

[There is no limit to the amount of time you can spend in one world for each challenge, so you may be there for months or years, depending on how fast you can complete your assigned task.]

[Do not worry! I, the Buddy system will be here to provide you with help. Although there will be the overall challenge to complete, there will also be smaller tasks within that challenge provided to you so that you can earn points. With points you can use it to purchase things from the Buddy store that will help you to complete tasks.

Unfortunately, you are not able to purchase anything from the Buddy store yet as you currently have 0 points, but you will be able to once you officially start a challenge and complete tasks.]

~Ah, I see.

[Now you are fully prepared to start your first challenge!]

~Wait. Can I ask a question before we start?

[Yes! Ask away!]

~Can I change your voice?

[Um… my voice? You… want to change it?]

~Yes. Can I?
