1 Chapter 1

Looking at the mirror, Chen Yuan could vividly see every outline of the person in front of him wearing a long azure-colored flowing robe with loose sleeves and a belt at the waist, dressed impeccably. Slender figure and tender skin as smooth as the best jade and as white as snow, silvery-white hair like the color of the distant moon shining all over the cold sky at night, almond-shaped black eyes, high pointed nose, enticingly full and sensuous red lips, and perfectly formed sword-like eyebrows tinted with pride.

The delicate features of the man in the mirror were very stunning and perhaps no word would ever fit to describe how beautiful he is. Chen Yuan admitted even to himself that he has never seen anyone as beautiful and serene looking like a divine white lotus but with an air of arrogance and elegance which seems to perfectly fit with his prideful temperament. His looks were the very definition of a heavenly immortal being.

Chen Yuan still possessed the memories of this person. He was born and raised in a noble family which held tremendous power and wealth in the cultivation world, the Chen Clan. His father was the head of the clan and his mother pampered him and gave him everything he could possibly wish for. Their upbringing made him naturally arrogant and prideful, looking down at everyone as mere none entities.

This is for a reason that he didn't have just wealth and looks but was also born to be extremely gifted with talent. He was the only Celestial spiritual roots in a million cultivator, enough to be the pride of the entire Chen Family in the cultivation world. At the age of 16, he was already at the Core Formation middle stage surpassing all elites and geniuses in his generation. Chen Yuan has a brilliant reputation and he was named "Peerless Genius Yuan". Everyone looked up to him in awe and respect despite his arrogant temperament.

One could say that perhaps it isn't too bad living a life like this. From power, wealth, talent, and looks he has everything anyone could ever wish for but it isn't without a flaw. Chen Yuan was just a minor villainous character in the novel he previously read "Rise of the Heavenly Emperor" and was later killed in the plot by the protagonist along with his entire Clan terminated for everyone to see just how powerful the protagonist's golden finger. He was just a pitiful cannon-fodder in the novel, tortured to death, and whose soul was burned by the demonic fire for tens of thousands of years.

Chen Yuan knew he transmigrated to replace this cannon fodder but he can't seem to remember his name in his previous life and even his memories there are starting to become hazy. He didn't exactly know-how and for what purpose he transmigrated but he was just a stereotypical avid novel reader in his previous world. He read countless thousands of books, especially about transmigration novels and cultivation. He always thought about how it feels like to transmigrate but didn't think he would get to experience it himself.

He can't vividly recall what happened on that day before transmigration but what he knew was that he was just laying lazily on his bed and when he woke up, he found himself laying on a canopy bed and was greeted with a different scenery possessing memories and body he didn't own.

'It's cliche and unrealistic.'

He thought but he wasn't the type of person to keep lingering on things he couldn't change. He was in all honesty still culture-shocked but it was futile to think he can go back to his previous world as a stupid person would think so. It's not his character at all so he has decided to just go with the flow and try to cope with bizarre things.

Now that he knows the plot, he wouldn't walk the life of the original Chen Yuan. If the cause of his misfortune was when he offended the protagonist then he would just try to avoid him or simply ignore him. I mind my own business, you mind your own business and that's just it. Chen Yuan was out of his trance when a servant knocked on his door.

"Y-young Master, the Patriarch is looking for you at the Clan's Ancestral Hall." The servant stuttered and was trembling while bowing.

She was afraid to offend the young master in front of her. Everyone knows how terrifying their young master could be when offended, fitting to be called a vicious villain.

Chen Yuan immediately walked out of the Tianwei Pavilion and headed straight to Jiyin Divine Palace located at the very center of the Chen state.

Once Chen Yuan came to the hall, the Patriarch, elders, and clan disciples were already gathered there, almost everyone seems to be waiting for his arrival.

He walked at the center of the hall with his face held high in prideful elegance. When he came, almost everyone looked at him some with admiration or envy plastered on their faces especially the unfortunate and lowly ranking disciples of the clan.

Chen Yuan wasn't like this but the original villain was like this so he had to act and pretend to avoid arousing suspicions.

When he was at the center of the hall he looked at the patriarch which was his father and to the elders then greeted them politely.

His father, the elders, and all the disciples froze and stood there in shock because of what he did. It was their first time seeing Chen Yuan be so polite in front of the elders and even to his father. The crowd became silent and couldn't believe what they saw. Everyone knows how proud the son of the Patriarch is.

'Oh no, although I retain the memories of the previous owner I still can't get used to it acting all arrogant in front of other people. I better be careful from now on.'

Chen Yuan thought and the Patriarch immediately coughed to break the awkward atmosphere.

"I called everyone here to tell you important matters that may change the balance of power in our realm." The Chen Clan Patriarch's voice was set in a solemn tone then looked at the Clan's disciples. "The Heavenly Sect has finally opened up their doors to recruit new disciples after a hundred years. In a month from now, the Heavenly Sect will start their recruitment and we must take this opportunity to further strengthen our influence and power so I hope all of you as the Chen Clan's disciple bring honor to our clan."

When hearing the Patriarch, the young Chen Clan's disciples were very excited just at the thought of becoming a part of the Heavenly Sect it didn't matter even becoming just an Outer Sect disciple will bring them high prestige and imagining the numerous amount of resources made them ecstatic.

Although the Chen Clan is never lacking in terms of resources because of preferential treatment, it was given to the most talented disciples of the Clan especially to Chen Yuan as the most talented disciple in their generation and as the son of the Patriarch. So compared to being an Outer Sect disciple of the Heavenly Sect, what was given to the lower and younger disciples of the Chen Clan were just scrapes and were barely enough for their cultivation.

Every disciple was smiling in glee except for Chen Yuan who was unfazed by this turn of events. He was already satisfied with his prestige and resources not that he cared much about it in the first place. He just wants to stay here and live a happy life without any trouble, there's no need for him to put himself in danger just thinking about the Protagonist also becoming a part of the Heavenly Sect.

When the Patriarch saw his son stood in the middle quietly and unfazed, he heaved a deep sigh before saying "Chen Yuan come to my study after this."

**

After the announcement both father and son went to the study to discuss things.

The study was a little bit spacious but there was nothing much into it other than a table with a wooden stylus, a brush, and ink and bookshelves full of ancient scrolls and texts. It was a simple and proper study.

"Yuan'er don't you want to go to Heavenly Sect?" Chen Fu asked Chen Yuan tenderly like a good father to his son.

"Can you go there for your father so he won't lose face?" He added afraid of his son's retort.

Looking at the man affectionately talking to his son. Chen Yuan was feeling guilty and it painfully tugs at his heartstrings so he reluctantly nodded and with that Chen Fu smiled in relief.

'I guess there's no helping it. I'm still walking the path of the original Chen Yuan' He thought before going back to his room and lazily lay in bed like a sloth...
