69 Bloodline

'...Did we just...flirt with each other?' Meng thought while looking at Yufeng's smiling face. He never thought about his response, he simply felt like responding that way but it certainly felt as if he was subconsciously positively responding to her harmless flirting.

'Meng, go to that cave, you will perhaps be able to clear your confusion why are there so many profound beasts here' Su Zhu said in his mind and he immediately understood that she sensed something, most likely the so-called Dragon God's treasure.

"Yufeng, let's go explore that cave, approximately 600 meters to the north." Meng said before slowly flying towards the entrance.

"Mm" Yufeng hummed while nodding her head before flying next to Meng.

'His playful response caught me a bit off guard...but at least I know for sure that he doesn't feel repulsive around me!' Yufeng thought with a satisfied smile, feeling glad that she followed her guts and decided to meet and follow Meng. She actually was still unsure how she sees Meng. She likes his character and atmosphere around him but to call it love would be a bit shallow, however, she knew that she wanted to spend more time around him, training, resting...everything was enjoyable in his company.

When they entered the dark cave, Meng immediately illuminated it with his amber flames on top of his palm while also increasing the temperature of the cave to a more comfortable level.

"Producing pure Yang flames without having Golden Crow bloodline...intriguing." An ancient voice resounded inside the cave complex, startling Yufeng a bit as she narrowed her eyes and started scanning their surroundings with her senses.

"A residual soul of Dragon God I presume...?" On the other hand, Meng already expected this and was completely calm.

'Is this really legacy ground as Meng mentioned before Phoenix's legacy ground?!' Yufeng thought and grew even more cautious.

"A mere wisp of a residual soul left behind by the Primordial Azure Dragon, to be more precise, human." A pair of mysterious deep azure blue eyes suddenly opened in the pitch-black space overhead, with the same shape as of that human's.

"Hmm, interesting to have two visitors at once." Residual soul muttered while observing Meng very attentively, staring straight into his crimson eyes with vertical pupils as of those of predator's.

"I-Is this place something similar to Trial Grounds?" Yufeng asked while fighting the pressure those azure eyes were naturally generating. Even Meng had to admit that this Dragon God's pressure was far above that Phoenix's.

"Correct. The Era of the Gods had long since ended, and True Gods had also completely vanished. But we were not willing to completely disappear from the world, and would attempt to use various sorts of methods to leave behind a vestige of our strength to pass onto those of the future generation we had an affinity with, who would then pass on what used to be our strength to their future generation for an eternity" The azure eyes transferred their sight from seemingly unmoveable Meng's figure to Yufeng.

Yufeng immediately felt twice as much pressure when she was under residual soul's gaze, feeling as if she was completely naked, with all her secrets and powers stripped off.

While she was fighting off the pressure with her sheer willpower, she felt Meng's hand on her shoulder which completely stripped her of the pressure she was feeling.

She gazed at him with a grateful look in her eyes before calming her nerves down. She was too excited when she found out something as True God's legacy which made her defenses against mental attacks much lower but now she was fine once again.

"A thousand years ago, there were 129 challengers who had arrived at this place. But after that, two Flood Dragons came here while following my aura and never left, however, I no longer can feel their aura around, looks like two of you got here through your own power."

"What happened to those 129 challengers?" Yufeng asked, feeling tense.

"Died inside the trial grounds, all of them."

Residual soul's reply made Yufeng drew a sharp breath.

'So this Dragon God isn't as benevolent as Phoenix...' Meng thought while letting Yufeng ask questions in his stead.

After that, Residual soul explained a few more things regarding the trial ground before its eyes once again fall on Meng's figure, looking deep in thought.

"Human, you possess so many secrets that even I am unable to see through all of them but I can feel a faint presence of Phoenix on your body yet you do not possess its bloodline. I wonder...would you even be willing to bear my bloodline in case you pass through the trial?" Residual soul asked a question that would completely shock anyone who was aware of its existence and prestige. Even Yufeng was shocked and confused by this meaningless question. As if anyone was unwilling to bear the bloodline of a True God!

"...I don't think that matters at the moment. You have said that we are eligible to participate in the trial...so we want to participate, right, Yufeng?" Meng's bit rude words shocked Yufeng but she still nodded her head.

The azure eyes narrowed while staring at Meng who also narrowed his crimson eyes, fighting off the pressure coming from this residual soul.

"I see...Now I understand...You two are indeed eligible to take on this trial but if you want to enter together, the difficulty will become higher. Moreover, the difficulty is increased with the strongest person as basis which means you will encounter hard challenges with your cultivation base. I don't really recommend it but decide for yourselves." Residual soul said, as if it saw through Meng's reason for being reluctant to accept its bloodline.

Meng and Yufeng looked at each other before Meng looked back towards the azure eyes and firmly nodded his head.

"We wish to enter together!" Both of them said at the same time which made them look at each other with a bit surprised expression before they laughed a bit.

"Good, looks like you are determined to enter together despite hearing that none of the challengers passed the trial...I will open the gate, however, since you have already had the honor of experiencing the trial left by the Phoenix, I wish to warn you that Dragon God being the sovereign of all beasts, looks down upon the world with pride. The Dragon God's bloodline, absolutely would never be granted to any ordinary person. Only a supreme being who possesses enough talent and willpower to become the ruler of heaven and earth, can be qualified to bear the Dragon God's bloodline!" The residual soul said while narrowing its eyes in a serious manner.

A blue light suddenly flickered on the rock wall and blue colored teleportation formation appeared on the wall.

Yufen and Meng both nodded at each other before walking towards it, Meng shortened his steps a bit to fall behind Yufeng but when she noticed it, she has already entered the formation and got transported away.

Just when Meng was about to step inside the formation, he stopped to reply to residual soul's last words.

"I wish not for the dominion." Meng said with closed eyes before he stepped inside. When he was finally transported...His words struck the residual soul as a sharp weapon, hiding inside them the reason why he wouldn't accept its bloodline.

"Haha...as expected of his bloodline...Proud yet humble at the same time. Still, it looks like he is unaware of his origins. Anyway, I thought that humans with such a pure bloodline already went extinct. Human offsprings always have the mixed bloodline of their parents which means that the pure bloodline from one of their parents gets weaker unless one of the parents' bloodline completely dominates the other."

'The real weakness yet perhaps even blessing of his bloodline is that it mixes well with other bloodlines and even enhances them. For him to still have such a pure bloodline of ancient very first humans of the Primal Chaos Dimension... His ancestors were probably too proudful to mix their bloodline with others...but that might even mean...' Residual soul thought with a complicated look in its azure eyes.

Both Meng and Yufeng were transported to the barren highland with numerous mountains on the horizon reaching the skies even above the clouds.

"Welcome to the Dragon God's trial grounds. In this trial, there will be a total of three stages. Where you two are right now is the first stage and your goal is to defeat all the Stone Dragon Warriors in this place and after that, the entrance will naturally open…I wish you two best of luck" Residual soul's voice resounded above them in the sky.

The yellow light flashed in front of them and 2 Stone Dragon Warriors appeared, having the appearance of half-human and half-dragon. They were wielding a stone spear in one hand and a stone shield in the other hand.

"They are releasing the pressure of the 3rd stage of the Emperor Profound Realm..." Yufeng muttered with a solemn expression.

"Their battle prowess is much lower." Meng replied while thrusting his spear forward in flash, completely piercing through its stone shield and its entire body before it started to crumble. The other stone dragon warrior was about to attack him but yellow sword energy suddenly flew past Meng, slicing the warrior in half.

"You are right..." Yufeng muttered, even though they were releasing the power comparable to low stages of Emperor Profound Realm, her own battle prowess was much higher than any regular 3rd stage of the Emperor Profound Realm without any suitable weapon and tools.
