9 PVP Match (2)

Chapter 9: PVP Match (2)

Zane had his fingers moved fast across the keyboard, spamming at every key, and his eyes never left the monitor screen. His game character, Slength, was moving according to the beat of his typing speed. On the other hand, Ajax was laid back. His fingers were moving slowly and his game character, Laxus, was dodging the incoming combo attacks Slength was using, but his attempts were futile. Every time he evaded an attack, Zane would somehow get to him and strike a blow from above or from his blind spots. By then, his health had dropped to forty percent.

[Woah… Laxus' health is dropping…]

[That fast block he did before was just beginner's luck??]

[Sheesh. I don't think the player can survive at this rate, not by Slength's wrath.]

Upon reading the chats, Zane was blinded by arrogance and greed. Slength's movement speed increased and he had become more deadly. His aiming was dangerously precise and if Ajax was not an assassin from his past life, he would have been petrified with Zane's ruthless attacks. A few times Laxus had managed to evade Slength's incoming attacks and counter attack, but Slength's health bar hardly depleted.

"Well, where's that confidence you had from before gone to now? You're not gonna give up now, are you?" Zane belittled as Slength continuously stabbed and sliced through Laxus.

Laxus' health was falling fast and yet, Ajax remained strangely calmed.

"Kill him, Zane!"

"It's almost ending soon! Go Zane!"

"Finish him!"

His friends roared in excitement as they watched the game unfold before them. When Laxus' health hit twenty percent and his character was standing in idle mode, Zane decided to go in for the kill.

"Seems like it's not your lucky day," derogated Zane as Slength charged onwards, making the final kill. Unfortunately for Zane, as soon as the sword swung, Laxus had vanished into thin air.

This time, Ajax fought back, "You're wrong. Today is indeed my lucky day."

Laxus then reappeared behind Slength and threw a couple of shards onto his opponent. Due to its sudden active passive, the shards duplicated into double amounts and it was aimed directly towards the berserker who could not escape from its horrendous fate. Even when he tried to shield himself, the shards broke through the barrier and hit him deadly. His health had instantly depleted to forty percent.

"W-What?! How?!" Zane looked over to his right, just to meet Ajax's smirk, "It's written in his passive buffs. When his health is below 25%, his movement speed increases by 30% and his attack damage are doubled, including throwing the amount of shards."

Zane was desperately slamming on the keyboard, trying his best to avoid Laxus' rapid attacks. Alas, Ajax's typing speed had greatly increased, making full use of Laxus' passive buffs. Laxus had then successfully sneaked up on Slength, striking Slength expeditiously numerous times.

[Wth…]

[Oh no…!]

[Slength is gonna be dead at this rate!]

[EPIC COMEBACK!!!!! I'm starting to cheer for Laxus now! GO LAXUS!!!]

[Yeet! Laxus! Yeet!]

The chat exploded as the majority of them started cheering for Laxus. Zane felt his head ticking in annoyance. Slength did manage to slip in a couple of attacks on Laxus but he moved too fast for him and his health did not deplete as much as before. When both characters were down to ten percent of health, they had a single track mind to finish the battle with the use of the character's ultimate signature.

Zane immediately activated his, which was stunning his opponent for ten seconds before charging towards them and dealing five hard slashes. Regrettably, he had no idea of the assassin's skills to be this strong and he was lost automatically.

Laxus' skills were unique and upon triggering his ultimate signature, the character had the ability to remove the debuffs that were placed onto it before summoning the "Ring of Death" onto the opponent. The "Ring of Death" was a skill sent to a designated hero, dealing massive magic damage and slowing down its opponent by fifty percent for 2 seconds. The "Ring of Death" will remain on the character for another four seconds before consuming the character's health by twenty percent and disappearing into thin air.

[Game Over!]

[Player Laxus won the battle!]

The chats exploded and Zane angrily turned off the computer before standing over Ajax who was looking at him calmly.

"You cheated! You definitely cheated! There's no way you could've won easily!" Zane was not satisfied with the outcome of the match and he was about to grab Ajax's neck by the collar but his friends immediately got to his side and pulled him apart.

"Let go of me! He cheated! There's no way he could win with that lousy build!" Zane thrashed about as he continued to cry in unfairness.

The lazy man who had been watching from the counter, had come over to dissuade the situation, "I was watching and he didn't cheat. If he cheated or bugged the game, the PC notice would've lit up. It's just a game, Zane. He had won fair and square. Now it's either you leave and don't cause a scene here or I will call your father and you won't like it at all."

Ajax could hear the underlying tone of threat and he saw hesitation flickering in the teenager's eyes. Without another word, he and his friends packed their bags and handed over the cards to the counter person. Before they left completely, Zane glared at Ajax.

"You're gonna regret this someday and I swear I will take my revenge on you," he hissed arrogantly and all Ajax could do was shake his head.

'Kids…' He turned around and thanked the man for helping him out even though he did not need saving.

"I'm surprised you won the match without proper builds. Are you a pro-player or something?" Asked the man, curiously.

In response, Ajax shrugged his shoulders, "Who knows? Maybe I am now?"
