Rescue Mission.

Merle Dixon. That inbred, white trash, racist, mother loving fool of a man.

It's his fault we're here, stuck, with nowhere to go.

The fucking stupid shit decided it was a good idea to fire off a shot, in the middle of the city of Atlanta.

I knew it was a bad idea for him to come along, but no one listens to poor, helpless Andrea. For fucks sake.

We finally managed to get through to the group for a minute but the connection didn't last long. It's probably hopeless.

There's probably no point living in this god-forsaken world anyway... I just hope Amy's okay.

"Hello, are you guys there? It's Amy." Her voice came from the radio in T-Dog's hand, much to my surprise.

I quickly snatched it from him. "Amy, it's Andrea. Are you guys okay?"

"Of course we're okay. We're coming to get you out of there." Amy responded.

My heart dropped. What the hell were they thinking? Sending my sister to come and get us.

"No, Amy don't come here. We're fine we can get out on our own." I said. There's no way I would let my little sister come and save me, I'd rather die here than put her in danger.

It was then that Morales snatched the radio from my hand and spoke.

"Don't listen to her. There's no way we can get out of here by ourselves. We're completely surrounded." He said. That fucking taco-munching bastard.

"I can see that." A different voice came over the radio at this point, a voice we didn't recognise.

"I want you guys to listen very carefully. I'm here to save your asses, and this is what I need you to do."

We didn't really have any choice in the matter as the man's voice continued to order them over the radio.

###

Amy and I were slowly making our way through the backstreets of Atlanta.

I had already relayed my plan to the others and they were currently locking themselves on the roof of the building next to the department store, where Rick and Glenn had entered from before barricading the entrance.

I figured that would give us enough time to get over there and get them out. I don't know why they didn't do that in the show, there's pretty much no way a zombie could get to them if they're up there.

Amy and I had left the car behind on the highway before we entered the city, Glenn had given us a run down of the situation and the surrounding buildings.

We were on the opposite side of the street, behind the department store. All that stood between us was a few stragglers on the street in front of me and a large building I had to get through.

There were windows on the backside of the building that opened to the rooftop the group was on, all I had to do was clear the way there.

I really wish I had a bow, but all I had was my guns and a pocket knife.

I took a deep breath before turning to Amy.

"Amy, I need to tell you something. You need to know what's happening to the people of this world."

I spoke with a serious expression. I was debating with myself till now if I should tell her anything, and I finally decided to let her know the bare minimum, girls love honesty after all.

"I have a superpower." I said after a moment of deliberation.

This prompted a look from her somewhere between shock and happiness.

"Me too!" she whisper-shouted as she grabbed my hands and nearly jumped with glee.

"I know." I said back to her with a grin, enjoying the view of her bouncing in delight. "My power lets me borrow yours from you."

I didn't tell her the whole truth, I had just met this girl after all, I told her enough that I could use powers in front of her without freaking her out.

"Wow, that's so cool. So can you hear the walkers in the building over there too?" She asked in awe, still holding my hands.

"Yeah, I can smell them too, it's pretty rank." I responded.

That's a downside to this ability I suppose, the world definitely stank something terrible.

It was then that Amy realised she was still holding my hands, as she went to let go I tightened my grip on her left before pulling her up.

"Let's go." I said with a charming smile. I couldn't see her face but I bet it was as red as a tomato.

I refocused my mind before slowly heading across the street, making sure to keep behind the cars so as the zombies didn't see us.

The door to the building was open but there was a walker standing in front of it.

I approached it from behind and hesitated a moment before ramming my knife into the base of its skull.

It didn't even struggle as I lowered it to the ground and stepped into the building.

A myriad of thoughts swam through my head but I pushed them aside and continued on through the ground floor.

Amy stood just behind me, a torch shining the way in her left and her Glock in the right.

She wasn't allowed to use it unless I told her to but I allowed her to hold it, but only if the safety was on.

I had taught her the basics in the car and had warned her of what would happen if she fired a shot, in graphic detail.

We walked through the building, slowly making our way up. My map allowed us to avoid most of the walkers, but I did have to take care of a few.

With just one of them I would distract them by throwing something away from me, they would follow the noise and I could stab them from behind. They were all only level one zombies and had no intelligence, therefore it was quite easy to take them out.

We made it to the floor where the group were, in fact I could see them through the window.

"Is that them?" I turned to Amy, who nodded.

"That's them, but they're missing one." she had a confused expression on her face.

The one that was missing was Merle. I checked my map since it encompassed the roof in front of us.

I found Merle, the seedy bastard. He was hiding at the corner of the rooftop, with his gun pointed at the rest of the group.

'What is he doing?'

(What did you expect from Merle?)

'Far play. What should I do? I can't kill him man. I'm not ready for that yet.'

(Didn't you see the open window behind him?)

'Oh yeah, thanks.'

After a quick chat with Z we changed positions, though it did mean I had to kill most of the walkers on the floor we were on.

After we made it to where Merle was, Amy turned off the flash light and I pulled my Glock from my belt.

I was silent as I approached the redneck from behind.

He didn't notice me until my gun was pressed against the base of his skull.

"Drop your weapon or I'll blow your head off." I said in my most intimidating tone.

My skill must have activated because he dropped the gun instantly, even pulling his sidearm and knife out and dripping them too.

"Alright man... Be cool, there's no need for anyone to die here, is there?" He stuttered.

I didn't let him continue though as I struck him in the head with the butt of my gun, knocking him out and probably causing some brain damage, if that was even possible with a dumbass like Merle.

"Andrea!" Amy shouted as she ran past me and embraced her older sister.

"Amy!" Andrea replied before going straight into scolding mode and berating her for being reckless.

"What the hell are you doing coming here when I told you not to. You're not meant for this world." She said as tears welled up in her eyes.

Amy broke the hug with a hurt look. "What do you mean, I'm saving you. No one else wanted to come along, no one else cared enough to come and get you guys! Only Leon had the balls to put his neck out for you guys, and he doesn't even know you. I can't believe you'd scold me for saving your life Andrea."

I stood and watched as she inadvertently sang my praises before picking up Merle and slinging him over my shoulder.

"Alright, you can hash this out later, for now we need to get a move on." I interrupted her and she gave Andrea a hurtful glare before returning to my side.

"Alright, there's no way that station wagon will hold us all now." I said once I had everyone's attention. "We're going to have to head to that construction site down the round."

There was silence from the rest of the group, "Any ideas on how to get down there?"

My question seemed to get their attention.

"Yeah, I can lead the way." Glenn was the one to reply, I nodded before giving the passed out Merle to Morales and taking the lead.

Everyone had torches so the inside of the building was well lit.

Stealth was pretty much out the window though so I focused on speed.

We pretty much ran through the building, I kept an eye on my map so we got through without casualties. When we stepped out on the street I took out three walkers at the entrance before running down the street.

It was there that I met my first level 2 zombie

/Species: Zombie(Lvl2)

Status: Roamer

Skills: Heavy Handed (Lvl1)

Traits: Undead/

/Heavy Handed - Level 1 - The basic skill of an undead. Allows the user the sense to use items as tools/

This zombie had a rock in his hands and tried to hit me with it. I dodged quite easily before sticking my knife in its temple.

I was pretty shocked to say the least but we kept on moving.

Most of the zombies were pretty far away from us as we jumped over the fence. I kept the ones that were attracted to the noise at bay while the others climbed over.

By the time we had all gotten over, Glenn had already gotten the keys to the two trucks on the road and everyone piled in.

I drove the first one with Amy, Andrea, Morales and Merle. While the second was driven by Glenn with the rest of the crew in the back.

It was pretty quiet in my truck as we relished in our survival. That changed quickly however as Andrea soon started arguing with Amy.

I could have sworn they had a pretty good relationship on the show, then again they didn't really look like their actresses so maybe it wasn't the same universe as the show.

But it couldn't be the comic universe since Merle was here, and he wasn't in the comic.

Must be a completely different one, I hope my knowledge was still valid.

"Right Leon?"

I was brought out of my thoughts by Amy asking my opinion. I nodded my head and said "Of course."

I had no clue what she was talking about but I wasn't about to admit that I hadn't been listening.

She broke out into a smile before planting a kiss on my cheek, Damn I'm good.

"No! There's no way, you just met him. He could be a rapist or murderer for all you know! I won't allow it!" Andrea fired back at her sister who immediately came to my defence. I was starting to wonder what I just agreed to.

"I don't care what you say, if he says I can stay with him then I can stay with him." She said this very matter-of-factly and even hugged my arm.

Wow, I'd just got an absolute babe whilst doing nothing. I must be tripping.
