3 Chapter 3: Run

"Flammenschuss!"

Another basketball sized ball of flames were thrown directly towards Ishida's face forcing him to dodge once again.

*Boom!*

Feeling a little panicked because of the close proximity of the fireballs and his own face, Ishida was about to retaliate before another one was thrown at him again.

*Boom!*

The moment Ishida dodged the third fireball he was finally able to hear a high pitch voice screaming for help.

"Johann Help Me!!"

'Shit, it's that girl!'

Ishida looked back to see Lea still in the same place, her legs were frozen because of fear.

'Should I save her or not? It will take too long and the human boy would throw a lot more fireballs and may end up accidentally hitting her.'

Ishida tried to analyze the situation but he was forced to dodge once again by the fourth fireball.

*Boom!*

'The heck are those spells? Did that kid learn that spell all by himself? Or was his relatives the one who taught him that spell.'

'It looks like the range of his spell is 10 meters, it isn't very effective for long distance fights since his spell needs to travel across the air but if he uses the fireball at close range I won't have a chance to dodge it!'

'Damn, I'm really starting to regret not being able to learn any magic because of my lack of teacher and reading comprehension...'

Ishida inwardly thought before dodging the fifth and final fireball, feeling that his opponent's mana seems to be depleted.

'He can only use five flame shots? Well color me surprised I thought I was going to be up against a mage prodigy like Fern...'

Just a Ishida was about to punch the human kid who was currently running back and forth, who was trying to find a stick or even a sharp rock to throw at him.

*Cough*

While Ishida was distracted by the kid's movements, he was not aware of the the burning smoke slowly suffocating him.

*Cough*

Ishida coughed a bit before covering his nose and mouth with his cloak.

'The fire is spreading quickly...'

'Shit, this is bad'

Looking back at the fire Ishida was able to see the trees on the side starting to catch on fire.

*Cough*

'If I stay here any longer, not only will the fire consume my home and possibly all the items in my house, I will also pass out

because of the smoke!'

Ishida was thinking for a way to get out the situation he is in, while also not forgetting about the human kids.

'Agh, why can't I just get a normal and calming life?!'

Grabbing his silver dagger, Ishida coldly spoke to the Johann.

"Leave or the fire that you caused will burn you down with it! I don't why you started to fire magic at me but I know that the girl over there is your friend so hurry and get out of here!'

Johann hearing the cold voice coming from the monster, he was not convinced and continued searching for a stick or a rock.

*Cough*

The fire has started to spread further causing more black smoke to form.

"Shit!"

'It's too dangerous for the two kids to stay here any longer'

Grabbing a gold from his pocket Ishida threw a strahl gold coin towards the young boy and spoke in a loud voice.

"Go take the girl with you and leave!"

*Cough*

Johann who was caught off guard by the gold coin, was then able to hear a raspy voice.

"Go and save the girl! Leave and forget that I ever existed!"

'!'

Hearing that he needed to leave and save the girl Johann quickly went back to Lea's position who was now fainted.

'This is bad, this is bad! I need to save her or else my grandmother would beat me till death!'

'Her mom is going to kill me if I didn't bring back Lea safely back home...'

Johann quickly ran to Lea's direction and checked her pulse.

"Thank god, she is still alive!"

'She must have passed out because of fear'

Johann was happy that he was able to find her pulse and quickly lifted her up on his back and run back to their village.

'Grandma told me that most fairies will leave you alone if they suddenly give you something, the item mostly varies but it shows that the fairy is unhostile...'

While Johann was running, he didn't look back and instead focused on running back to the village, he no longer wanted to get a faries hair and focused on saving and warning the other villagers of the forest fire he caused

*Cough*

Ishida on the other hand, was able to see that Johann and Lea leaving the place and sighed in relief.

'That was too close for comfort, not only did a fire started in my base but I also almost killed the human girl who helped before and her friend, but It's not going to stop the fire from spreading...'

*Cough*

Feeling a sharp pain coming from his right arm, Ishida was finally able to see that his forearm was burned because of the fireball.

'My dodging needs a little more work but I will deal with this later'

Ishida put the thought of his burns away and started packing his things and took out a water pouch that he got from the river and started sprinkling some water from all over himself and quickly ran towards his now burning home.

*Cough*

'At least let me get some of the spices back!'

After 20 seconds of rummaging at his burning home, he was able to get all money and important items like grimoires and manuscripts that he accumulated over the months and stuffed it on his hide bag making it look very bloated before finally hastily running outside and never looking back to past his old home.

After running for what seems like a long time, Ishida was finally able to steer clear from the burning part of the forest and was finally able rest on a side of river to clean up his burns.

Removing his half burnt cloak and clothes Ishida calmly went to the riverbed.

*Pssst*

"Agh! Fuck that hurt!"

'Do note to self, never go into a burning building without fireproof clothes...'

Within 10 minutes of cleaning and washing, Ishida's body is no longer covered in ash and dirt but his burn scars are still visible.

"Hais, what now? I lost another one of my homes... I really can live like this... Running away all the time... gets tiring"

"Should I try to go to the northland's? Or maybe the central lands?

"The demons of the north won't respect me because for all I know I can't even do a single magic spell..."

"The central lands is also a no go because that's where almost all of the population of mages, human, elves live..."

"I don't know where to go..."

"..."

"I just want to go home..."

Ishida tiredly said to himself while floating on the riverbed before finally crying.

"ww-Why can't I can't I just have calm and normal life?!"

"I never hurt anybody!?Everything I did was merely self defense! Yes I stole from people but it was for my survival! I did what I could!"

"I lived a quiet and simple life of hunting and gathering ever since!"

"But even then, misfortune always follows me..."

"I hate being a demon... Why can't demons, elves and humans just coexist?"

"I didn't even ask to be transmigrated here!"

"It's just unfair..."

After 30 minutes of sulking, Ishida stood up from the riverbed and when back where he left his clothes and hide bag.

'I will do what I can...'

"As long as I'm alive, nothing bad will happen."

In the Elmsdorf Village Johann and Lea was finally able to reach the gates of the village and saw a group of villagers armed with pitch works, torches, shovels and hoes in there arms with grim expressions in there faces.

Seeing there expressions, Johann was spooked for a moment before continuing to run towards the gates.

"HALT!"

Hearing his once uncles and aunties in the village looking at him with grim expressions Johann shivered instinctively before shouting towards the group and walked forward.

"Uncle Rainer, Auntie Heidi it's me, I need help Lea was injured!!"

"I SAID HALT DEMON!"

'...'

Johann stopped his movement and looked at all his aunties and uncles once more who were incredibly terrified.

'Did something happen when we were away?!'

"Aunties, Uncle's it's me Johann there's no way I could be a demon!"

One of male villagers shouted a question that only the Johann of this village would know.

"WHEN YOU WERE A 7 YEARS OLD WHO WAS THE ONE WHO STOLE YOUR WAND AND ACCIDENTALLY BROKE IT WHEN SHE USED IT AS HER ROLLING PIN AND HID THE EVIDENCE IN A PILE OF MANURE!"

"IT WAS AUNTIE GRETA! SHE EVEN TRIED REPLACED MY WAND WITH A STICK SHE FOUND ON A STREET!"

The villagers tense face lessened, but however they were was still very cautious of Johann and Lea.

"Where were you last night?"

The same male villager asked Johann another question.

"We were camping, why?"

Johann lied naturally as he breathed and after while he replied, he finally saw his uncle's and auntie's faces no longer as grim and tense as before.

"Johann and Lea hurry back your grandpa Rúger was murdered by demon child!"

Hearing the news Johann's face turned grim before turning into anger.

'Even if I got a fairies hair, it won't cure the dead...'

Feeling his heart burn in rage, Johann quickly went to tell them that he accidentally used his magic and caused a small sized forest fire and that Lea was Injured

After saying his part, each of the individual members in the crowd had a angry tick on there head.

"JOHANNN!"

*SMACK*

*SLAP*

*SMACK*

After surviving the small beating, Johann quickly got up from the beating perfectly fine before asking uncle to take care of Lea and finally started finally running towards his grandpa's home

*Pant*

*Creak*

Johann looked at the living room and a saw a man wearing a green robe and holding a staff with a sapphire orb observing the crime scene.

"Father Jacob what happened?!"

Hearing a families voice coming from behind him Father Jacob looked behind him and so his niece Johann currently staring at him with eyes filled with rage.

"Johann, when you were away, your grandpa invited an injured boy who looked almost the same age as you in to the village he wore a black cloak that covered most of his head and body, only after the break of dawn we were able to notice that he wasn't going outside to go do his morning walk that it was already too late..."

'!'

After a second of thinking Johann was able to remember that the fairy that he was trying to kill looked oddly familiar to the description of the demon child who killed grandpa Rúger.

Johann's made eye contact with Father Jacob and retold what he and Lea were doing during outside of the village except for some key points like how he used Lea as bait lure the fairy.

"I believe we met the demon child when we went exploring the Forest to look for fairies."

Father Jacob's frowned at Johann's last words.

"Fairies no longer exists Johann..."

Perplexed by Father Jacob's words Johann asked in curiosity.

"What do you mean Father Jacob?"

"There are no longer any pure blooded fairy in the world, because all of them evolved into demons."

"!"

"20,000 years ago, The King of the fairies Oberon seeing how humanity and elves prospered through out the south, north and central land forced himself and all of his people to no longer be able shape shifting and forever made them take in a form of a hybrid between a dragon, elf and human as a bid to be able to fully understand what truly makes humans special..."

Johann's eyes widened in surprise as if everything that he knew about the world changed and turned upside down.

"Also Johann keep what I said to you a secret, not unless you want to the whole entire goddess church sending 1st class priests to make you "disappear"

Johann felt like a bucket of cold water was washed over him and cautiously asked his Uncle another question.

"Why would the goddess church be protective of the history about the demons?"

Father Jacob rubbed his chin in a thought before answering Johann in a serious tone.

"It's because the Goddess is dead."

'!'

"Then if the Goddess of Creation is dead then who is the one who sanctions the use Goddess magic?!"

"The Queen of the Fairies Titania"
