10 Chapter 10: Frieren

Standing on the spot where Ishida fought Throd, Tuli and Eisen. Frieren was surprised by the amount of destruction in her wake. The trees were uprooted and craters the size of small car littered the battlefield.

'This the place where the mana last converged...'

Frieren observed the battlefield with curiousity before finally summoning her staff and casted a spell.

"Support magic: Revelare!"

Her surroundings started to glow blue and after a minute, her surroundings changed to before the time, the section of the forest was destroyed.

"Zoltraak!"

Frieren was able to see caramel haired middle aged man cast a Zoltraak to a demon child.

"Demon..."

Frieren quietly muttered before continuing to watching the scene in front her and was able to witness the demon child use defensive magic and fired a seemingly absurd amount of zoltraaks at the human party without breaking a sweat.

'Is it the one who caused the mana wave?'

Frieren cautiously thought while not letting any details from her spell to escape her grasps.

"Tuli!"

.

.

.

After a while of observing, Frieren was able to see the demon child fall from the air and was immediately glad they quickly killed the demon child.

*Swoosh*

"Huh?"

In a span of fifteen seconds, the demon child who she thought would had died from the fatal drop suddenly flew up into the skies and quickly threw profanities at the human party before slamming himself into a barrier.

'It was able to learn flying magic when falling?'

'I need to find it fast before it starts to learn more spel-'

*Pang*

"..."

Frieren made a deadpanned face, but still continued on watching the scene with caution.

.

.

"Do you hate demons?" The middle-aged man talked to the demon child.

Surprisingly the demon child answered honestly.

"Yes..."

Witnessing the demon child speak those words, Frieren coldly looked at where the demon child was and silently muttered.

"A demon's words, are fake."

.

.

.

After another minute of observation, Frieren was able to see the party suddenly lower there guard to the demon child.

"Don't turn your back on it!!"

Frieren shouted her loudest at the human party but her warnings we already too late since this spell only reveals the past events of a specific area with activated mana.

'Its already too late...'

Frieren witnessed the party suddenly turn there back on it as she couldn't bare to see the humans lose there lives to the demon's deception she then quickly dispelled the spell.

"I need to find it" Frieren coldly said to herself while casting a flying spell and quickly rose into the air.

.

.

.

In the Elmsdorf Village inside the village church, Siev and Ophila is currently looking for the stolen manuscript that the priest Jacob stole from the holy church.

"Ophila, we've been looking for four days already! Maybe the priest didn't hide it here?"

Siev complained at Ophila who was also sifting to every cabinet, closet and bed for any potential clues.

"Don't worry Siev, we got like two more days until we can find it until master will send us back to Morgenrot"

Ophila nonchalantly answered Siev while opening a closet full of clothes and quickly sifted through it like a maniac.

'I should had just left with master and Drel...'

Siev inwardly sighed, while continuing there search for the manuscript that dates back to ten millennias ago.

*Swoosh*

"Huh?"

Hearing a sudden gush of wind outside of the village church, Ophila and Drel were confused for a moment before quietly silencing themselves.

'Maybes it's a demon who is looking for that demon child?' Siev and Ophila silently nodded to each other and quickly summoned there staffs.

Ophila then quietly walked to the entrance of the church cautiously with her mace staff in hand, before quickly opening and pointing at the intruder.

'An elf?'

Ophila thought while looking at the petite, female Elf with green eyes and long white hair tied into two pigtails wearing a striped black and white shirt and on her hand crescent moon shaped staff with a bright red gem in the middle of it.

"Umm, can I help you miss elf?" Ophila quickly closed the door of the church behind her before asking the elf girl a question.

"You look like your part of the party who fought the demon child" Frieren eyed at Ophila's white cloak with a symbol of the south magic institution engraved on it's chest.

'This elf knows that master fought the demon child?'

Ophila quickly replied to Frieren

"I don't know what you talking miss elf"

Frieren then nonchalantly pointed her staff at her.

"I know you're lying, I have a spell that can detect when a person is lying in front of me..."

Ophila started to nervously sweat before finally truthfully answering the elf girl the truth.

"I'm part of the group who fought against the demon child, but I don't where they we-"

*Boom*

Ophila scaredly looked behind her and saw half of the church went missing.

'I couldn't react to her spell at all!!'

"I won't ask twice."

Frieren coldly said to her while continuing on pointing her staff with the intent to kill her if she told another lie.

Feeling that she wasn't taking no for an answer, Ophila finally told her the truth.

"My master took the demon child to Igelwide a village just east from here..."

"So your master didn't die when fighting the demon child?"

Hearing that some of the information the elf mage knew was lacking, Ophila quickly added in some finer details.

"No! My master is fine! After the demon child collapsed, he took him in and made us promise not to tell anyone."

"Your master is alive?" Frieren questioned Ophila again.

"Yes..."

After getting an honest answer from the girl, Frieren lowered her staff and went into a deep thought.

'Why didn't the demon child attack them when they suddenly lowered there guard and turned there backs it?'

'That doesn't make sense...'

Eyeing the human mage in front of her, Frieren suddenly got an idea.

"Take me to your master."

"But-"

Frieren raised her staff menacingly

"Sure..."

Casting a flying spell to herself, Ophila then quietly flew up into the sky, while Frieren followed close behind her.

Inside of the broken church, Siev saw Ophila and an elf mage flew up into sky, before finally breathing a sigh of relief.

'She almost killed me!'

Siev inwardly thought while looking at the damage the elf mage casted unto the church.

'Is she one of the first class mages in the central lands?'

In the village of Igelwide, Ishida is currently laying on the bed, in the room his 'foster parents' lent to him and happily thought.

'I got a new bed, new home and even free food! I can finally have a peaceful life that I wanted!'

Ishida then stood up from his bed and happily smiled.

'If only I have my grimoires then everything would be perfect...'

Sighing to himself, Ishida then used a wall mirror at the corner of his room to look at his features.

'Do these horns serve any function what so ever?'

Touching his horns with curiousity, Ishida was able to feel a weird sensation when rubbing his horns.

'It's overly sensitive to the touch...'

Removing his hands on the horns, Ishida then inspected his teeth.

'Its the same as your regular humans'

'Other than the horns, I'm biologically and functionally a human being...'

'Should I try to remove it? It's not like these horns bring me any good merits...'

'Just by people looking at my horns alone, they would scream at a moments notice and ran away from me as fast they can...'

'Maybe I should use illusion magic to cover them up and then maybe I can finally go to any of the main cities without getting discovered!'

Ishida dreamed of adventurering into the world without any worry for his life or any humans/elfs trying to kill him 24/7 just because he was from the demon race.

Jumping back into his bed, Ishida put on a meditative pose.

'Wouldn't it be much better to make a shape shifting spell? Since naturally shape shifting is better than using illusions in this situation.'

Closing his eyes, Ishida then started to make a mental image of the shape shifting spell.

'Shape-shifting magic operates on the principle of metaphysical transmutation, wherein the mage harnesses the mana in there bodies to manipulate the fundamental essence of matter at a quantum and genetical level.

Through precise manipulation of mana, the mage induces a temporary alteration in the molecular structure of the target entity, facilitating a seamless transition between disparate forms.'

.

.

.

After a minute of waiting the arcane circle for the shape shifting arcane circle didn't appear on his soul.

"Well that's weird, I made the mental image as perfect as possible... Even if it fails I would definitely get a weaker version of the spell be shown on my soul..."

'Maybe it was a fluke, let try a different mental image...'

Closing his eyes again, Ishida made a different mental image of the spell again.

.

.

.

'Still nothing...'

After trying for a third time Ishida wasn't able to get the arcane circle for the shape shifting spell.

'Please don't tell me demons naturally can't shape shift?!'

Face planting himself onto his pillow in disappointment.

'God that sucks!'

'I wish that it is possible for me to get the arcane circle for the shape shifting spell...'

Sighing in his pillow, Ishida then quietly accepted the fact he couldn't shape shift and went to the next best thing.

'Illusion magic operates on the principles of perceptual manipulation within the cognitive framework of sentient beings. By harnessing mana in there surroundings, mages can distort sensory input, particularly visual and auditory stimuli, altering the recipient's perception of their surroundings.

This manipulation often involves the manipulation of light waves, sound vibrations, and neural pathways, inducing the targeted observer to perceive illusions as a genuine phenomena'

After a minute of waiting, he was able to see the arcane circle of the illusion spell written on his soul.

'So it only was the Shape shifting spell...'

Willing the arcane circle into reality, Ishida then quickly activated the spells function to make an illusion that his head doesn't have his curved horns.

Ishida then quickly jumped down his bed and ran towards the mirror in expectation.

'My horns are gone!'

'If a human being or even elf looked at me, then they would think I'm just a normal human! That is unless they try to pat my head and notice something obstructurting there hand.'

'I won't let anyone touch my head'

Rushing out of his room, Ishida then quickly went down the stairs to tell Tuli, Eisen and Throd what he had learned.

"Throd, Eisen, Tuli look what I did!"

Throd, Eisen and Tuli who were drinking and eating there breakfast immediately looked at Lacht who was happily pointing at his head.

Tuli's face turned grim before rushing at Lacht to check if he was okay.

"Lacht don't tell me you cut off your horns?!"

"My horns?"

Ishida made confused expression before making gleeful laugh and quickly dispelled his illusion magic.

*Speewwt*

Throd and Eisen immediately spitted out there coffees in surprise.

*Cough*

*Cough*

"Lacht, how were able to do that?"

Ishida looked at Throd weirdly before innocently answering his question.

"What do you mean Throd? Of course I learned it!"

Ishida casted and dispelled his illusion retroactively with a smile on his face.

Facepalming himself in inferiority, Throd looked at Lacht who has learned Illusion magic in one day while he who was a seasoned 1st class mage took him two years to make an arcane circle for a basic offensive spell when he was fifteen years old.

'This monster...'

Tuli who was crouched infront of him worriedly looking at Lachts dead eyes and ordered Lacht to never cut off his horns.

"Lacht, please don't scare us like that! We wouldn't want you to hurt yourself just so that other people can accept you..."

"Really?" Ishida lowered his head towards Tuli.

"Yes"

Tuli then hugged the demon child like a kind mother would do before finally a knock was heard from there front door.

Eisen who was closests to the door, took the chance to check who was the person so early in the morning knocking on there door.

*Creak*

With a swift turning of the nob, Throd, Eisen, Tuli and lastly Ishida was able to see a nineteen year old girl with long brown hair reaching to her waist holding mace staff and an white haired elf mage holding a crescent mooned staff and on the middle of it is a giant red gem stone standing outside of there door.

'Frieren...'
