1 Strange New World

Lan Tian woke up with surge of headache, opened his eyes and saw a very foreign view. He though 'where am I? What is this place? So bright, am I dead?'

The last thing he remember was, together with his four loyal guards, they are riding their horses through the forest, they are being chased by the group of assassins. Until they arrived at the end of the cliff and surrounded by the assassins, there is no other way to run except to fight. There just five of them to fight more than fifty skilled assassins. They were all expert in martial art themselves but it's not that easy to fight in their condition now. They were tired and wounded but again they rather die fighting than surrender.

But then...the sudden thunder strikes the ground that they were standing on, and they fell into the cliff.

He thought he already died, how can he wake up in this strange place? What is this place? One by one question pops up in his mind, trying to figure out what is happening.

Suddenly, his head feels like it is about to explode, a bunch of memory surge into his head like a broken water tap, splashing out water nonstop.

There was a nurse in the room next to his room, checking on the patient in that room, but then suddenly startled. Surprise by the loud sound, she rushes into his room and saw Lan Tian already on the floor, screaming while holding his head. The nurse then run to get the doctor. When the doctor came, Lan Tian already passed out due to excessive pain.

After more than twelve hours has passed, there is no sign Lan Tian waking up. Lan Niao, Lan Tian's father were holding his crying wife, Lan Yu. They have been there since the doctor called them that morning. Their son has been in coma state for two days after the car accident. After heard the doctor called them to inform that their son has woke up but then passed out again, they rushed to the hospital to see him.

"What's happening? The doctor said he's already awake, but now he's still laying there, not even slightly move," Lan Yu say to her husband with husky voice due to crying too much. "We've been waiting for almost twelve hours now."

"Yu'er, be patient, the doctor said the nurse found Tian'er on the floor screaming while holding his head before he fainted again, we'll wait for further results from the doctor", Lan Niao says to calm his dear wife.

Two more hours after that, the doctor came with the medical result.

"Lan Tian's condition is stable for now, the reason he has the headache probably because he has been in coma state for forty-eight hours or due to the shock he received from the accident. Fortunately, we found absolutely no problem with his brain or other part of his body, but we will continue to monitor his condition until he wakes up again."

"See, there is nothing to worried about, the doctor said he's fine, please calm down now, it's not good for your health" Lan Niao says.

"What do you know? Of course, I'm worried, he's my son. I'm a mother, no mother can stand still watching her son laying on the hospital bed for days." Lan Yu refute.

"Find, alright, let's go home first, take a nap, we'll come back later. It's already late now. You need to rest, if Tian'er finds out about this later he'll be sad, you need to take care of yourself too." Lan Niao try to ease his wife's heart.

Lan Yu finally gives in and follow her husband to go back to their house. "Make sure to call us right away if anything happens." she says to the doctor before going out. "Don't worry Mrs. Lan, we will inform both of you if anything happens, rest assure".
