18 Drew Consciousness (4)

The king was waiting outside and the grand concubine was with him when Sungho peeked by the entrance. They were talking; the grand concubine was giggling as she trailed her hands on his arm.

"Your Highness, what are we doing here? Why aren't we greeting His Majesty?" Chun asked behind his ears and she suddenly produced a gasp when she saw what he was seeing.

"I understand, Your Highness." A mischievous smile formed on her lips as she giggled.

"I don't think you do." Sungho rolled his eyes in exasperation. "The King is busy. Let us not interrupt them."

The grand concubine just arrived at the right time; Sungho felt his chest cage loosen in peace. It was what he badly demanded, for someone to rescue him from seeing the king and abrupt them of meeting.

What was the king thinking when he said he desired to have a meal with him and even suggested to accompany him around his residence?

Chun's lips remained grinning while she said, "Oh come on, Your Highness. Don't be like that."

"Like what?"

"… To express jealousy to the other women of the harem is forbidden, Your Highness." She managed to snatch his arm and pulled him from hiding from the couple along with their servants thronging on the courtyard. "Come, we need to greet His Majesty."

With no ability to break free from her hold, Sungho let the court lady lead him outside the court. He was debating with himself whether to tell Chun he originally did not want to draw awareness of his existence to the king or simply let her stay excited and not mention any.

Soon as they walked in the open hallway, their footsteps caught the attention of the two personalities standing at the courtyard.

As Sungho was polished in teal silk fabric embroidered with light golden patterns, anyone could say he prepared too much but it was meriting seeing him dressed in beautiful clothing and glistening accessories.

The white-collar attached to the rim of the clothing gave contrast to his neck. Along with his cascading goldenrod hair from his back tied up in half, it would wave with charm from the blowing gentle breeze, delivering bewilderment and bewitching the audience.

"We welcome His Majesty, the King," Chun solely spoke as Sungho bowed his head beside her.

"I am sorry for making you wait, Your Majesty. I was not informed sooner that you are going to escort me from my court." Sungho remained his head low, looking at the two person's footwear while he was speaking his reasons.

With a hand extended that blocked his view from the ground, Sungho deliberately lifted his gaze to the one who owns it.

"The wait was worth it. I was compensated with your grace, Concubine Eun."

'How can he speak words that are cringe-worthy?' Sungho could only attempt his greatest not to reveal his deranged face from what he had heard from the king, and considerably, he succeeded in doing so.

"Shall we?" was his invitation. Sungho simply nodded and accepted his hand in defeat. "Then please excuse us, Grand Concubine Jin."

When they were walking as they left the grand concubine standing at the courtyard, Sungho managed to take a quick glance at her frame as he got near and passed her.

'Chun, you told me jealousy is not a thing in the harem. Then what explains her hatred?' Sungho scoffed to himself as he remembered his court lady's words earlier.

The grand concubine was trembling from anger. Considering they had already left the residence, the grand concubine must be raging and expressing her violent temper; Sungho could only mock her for her resentment and jealousy.

From holding his hand, the king placed Sungho's hold on his upper arm and spoke, "Concubine Eun."

"Yes, Your Majesty?"

"Did you perhaps purposely ignore me?" the king asked as he guided out Sungho from the entrance of the residence with him.
