4 A Kind of Its Own

The time passed by and Sungho had control of the body for four days. With the given amount of time, he could presently say that he now acquired and attained the background of the body that he possessed.

It was not difficult to inquire about the information. However, the maidservants he asked could not help but give him suspicious eyes. Despite that, they did not say anything and simply gave the answers to his questions.

Sungho was portraying the person named Du Hyeon Ju, the one who came from the second to the highest clan. The only daughter and known to be one of the last descendants of the Du Clan was currently the third wife of the certain king, Im Seok of the Hwangmok Kingdom.

King Im Seok desired the intelligence and military support from the Du Clan, but since the head refused him, the king killed all the families and relatives, excluding her and her second brother only.

Thus by forcing her only guardian, her second brother, Hyeon Ju married the king and entered his harem the same year her clan had fallen.

Hyeon Ju has been blind since her birth. Sungho could not state if Hyeon Ju was truly blind, however, her vision was similar to the incapability of seeing so he could safely say she was legally blind. That being said, she acquired the nickname after entering the harem.

The concubine with the eyes of clouds.

"I know now who this body belongs to, but I hardly know any about her brother and I haven't seen him either." Sungho brought his hand on his chin, lost in thought that he failed to notice his court lady opening the chamber's door.

"Who is Her Highness talking to?"

"Ah, no one! I was talking to myself." Sungho hurriedly waved his hands. Imaging his face in mind, he must have looked flustered.

"Well then, please allow us to prepare Her Highness for the banquet. Shall we dress Her Highness the way we were always ordered to?"

"S-Sure. Please do."

Soon as he answered, the figures before him bowed in unison and swiftly helped him rise from his seat on the mattress.

It turned out the banquet was accustomed to being celebrated every three months. This formal evening meal was made for the king, so he could interact with his harem. But not all could grab the attention of the king at the banquet.

Thus, for the concubines, the dinner was known as their battlefield; to see who could gain the favor of the king for the coming days.

"Oh no, the sleeves of the dress are torn. I shall fetch for a replacement, Your Highness."

As soon as Chun excused herself out of her chambers, the maidservants who were brushing his hair started to do it harshly, clicking their tongues as they went.

"Ow!" Sungho wept from the pain. "Stop, I will do it myself."

"We understand, Concubine Eun1." The maidservants placed the brushes on the vanity, then bowed and stepped their distance away from him.

What is their problem? How can they be so rough at brushing the hair? Are they having a bad day?

Sungho stated to his mind as he reached out to the brush. He then moved and began brushing; he could not help himself to admire the fine and beautiful shade of his dark goldenrod hair.

He would proudly admit that Hyeon Ju was gorgeous and probably, she must have experienced many men courting her. After all, just as he woke from the body, he immediately checked his face from the mirror, bringing himself close enough to see.

Although he could not see it currently, Sungho remembered every feature on his face: the pale yet pinkish skin that he could compare to the color of a pearl, the almond-shaped eyes, and the small nose where he could mysteriously breathe.

No doubt, Hyeon Ju was beautiful. One of a kind.
