Halloween

Weeks past a we were in at the end of October. And with the end of October came Halloween. The most eventful Hogwart holiday.

My thoughts were interupted by Flitwick placing a feather on everyone's desks. We were supposed to use a levitation Charm to make the feather placed on our table fly. It wasn't a real issue for me. Or Hermione for that matter.

"Winguardium Leviosa." I said and my feather started to dance. Even though I could've done it silently i'd rather the general public not know I can.

"Very good Mr.Longbottom 10 points to Gryffindor." Said a cheery Flitwick.

Not to be outdone Hermione to performed the charm. Which earned more house points. With her own spell sucessful she tried to help Ron.

"No, try win-GAR-di-um. Make the GAR nice and long." Spoke Hermione who was trying to help Ron.

"I know I'm not like Neville or Harry! I know I'm stupid already! You don't have to repeat it a billion times! It's no wonder no one can stand you!" Shouted a furious Ron. Whoa why'd he mention me.

Hermione was on the verge of tears, and did the unthinkable. A savage slap caught the whole class, especially Ron, by surprise. She did not scream anything back and just ran out the class, which was another unthinkable thing.

An unpleasant silence hung in the air around class, which Professor Flitwick was of course unable to clear. Only with time, and ending of the lesson, did students assume a normal mood as they walked along the corridor. Ron continued to look absolutely miserable, and Harry just frowned at him. Sometimes making weird gestures at me.

"Ok it's about time you went to apologize." I said to Ron.

"You! Your just-" and he was cut off by a Langlock from my wand.

"Ok now that you can spew whatever garbage you were about to. Look what you did was wrong. You attacked a girls insecurities becase she wanted to help you. But, at the same time she was wrong for the way she tried helped you. So, both of you will apologize to each other." I said releasing the spell on Ron.

"Yeah…I guess your right." Said Ron who looked down in shame.

"Come on Ron she's probably already in class." Said Harry. Grabbing Ron by his arm.

The last class ended, and it was time for the feast. With still no signs of Hermione, I suggested Ron to go look for her, of course pointing him in her general direction.

"But the feast is about to start! We can at least stay a bit at the feast and look for her later!"

Welp the wheel of destiny is turning.

We entered the Great Hall filled with Halloween decorations. A cloud of bats were on the ceiling, zooming here and there.

"Trick or treat." I turned to the person sitting next to me and said.

"Trick!" It turned out to be George, and he screamed in delight when a painless firecracker exploded in my face.

Ron was laughing his head off on my other side. "What're you laughing at? Go find Hermione."

"Oh, alright!" Ron got up and, leave the table.

Not long later, Professor Quirrell came into the Hall and fainted onto the floor after telling Dumbledore that a troll was in the dungeons. Not caring about the uproar about me, I munched on a medium rare steak. Gotta have ma protein.

I was stopped when, Percy and the other prefects gathered up all their student.

"Neville!" Shouted Harry in my ear. "Ron and, Hermione don't know about the troll!"

Should I help? Why not it's just a troll. Oh Merlin it's a troll, what if they didn't survive.

"Hey! Isn't that…Snape?" Harry spotted Snape running towards the third floor corridor.

"Focus. We have to help Ron and, Hermione." I said a look of determination across my face.

"Phew! It stinks!" Harry scrounged up his nose as they neared the girls toilets.

"It the troll hurry up!" I yelled running for the girls bathroom.

Following Harry inside, I saw a monster whose head was grazing the ceiling. It was probably the source of the stench, in its grey-ish stone colour, and had green hair at various places–like the arm-pits. The troll currently had his back to them, and had cornered Ron and, Hermione who were almost concealed behind the troll's bulging muscles.

Hermione looked terrified and, was crying hysterics as she clutched Ron's body, hiding her face in his back. Ron had blood all over him and, was was barely conscious, wand in his hand and, a defiant expression on his face.

"Ron! Hermione!" Harry's shouts. Were heard by the troll, distracting it as it circled around on the spot, trying to find its source.

Pulling out my wand, I use Ebublio the bubble jinx on the troll trapping it. And, ran to Ron. "Episkey" and his wounds began to knit themselves together. He's stable but, needs medical attention.

"Hermione go outside with Ron and Harry. Go get a teacher Ron needs medical attention." The girl still continued to look in fright though.

"Hermione! Focus up! Harry grab these two!" I yelled orders snapping Hermione out of her trance as I levitated Ron and Hermione from the room.

A surprised Harry caught his two friends and yelled. "Neville! Stay safe!"

I just shot him a thumbs up. And focused on the troll as the Golden trio were running away.

"Now Mr. Troll. Time to deal with you." I said a smile slitting my face. But, the troll just ignored was just poking at the bubble.

I started off by waving my hand to release the bubble surrounding the troll. The troll seeing that the bubble was missing saw me and tried to swing his club. But I was faster.

"Conjunctivitus!" I felt a surge of pleasure rush through me as I used the curse. Most of the darkcharms i'd used until now had been minor jinxs or hexes. But this one, a curse to blind the target and often forces them, in a panic, to convulse. I can certainly see why some fall for the allure of that, as that spell wasn't even all that dark.

The curse struck the troll with swelling its eyes shut. The troll in pain dropped its club and, started clutching its eyes. Now with the the troll weaponless and open to attack. I took a page from the orginal series and used the levitation charm on the fogotten club. Lifting the club high above the trolls head and releasing the spell. A thunk sounded as the club hit the troll causing a small earthquake. The troll stood no chance its head being turned into a fine pulp on impact.

"Mr. Longbottom!" I heard as Mcgonagall and Snape appeared in the doorway.

"The others ok?" I asked, Ron was injured pretty badly and, that did happen in canon.

"You killed it." Snape said with his usual tone of superiority as he noted the troll.

"Yeah. It injured a student and tried to kill three more." I replied without the slightest guilt.

Mcgonagall and Snape though where taken aback by my blatant attitude toward killing.

"And how pray tell would a first year kill a mountain troll." Drawled Snape.

"With maximum effort." I said in a joking manner.

"Fifteen Points from Gryffindor, for endangering yourself. Honestly fighting a mountain troll, you sent off Harry, Ron and Hermione. Why would you decide to stay?" McGonagall seems to have snapped from the uncaring answer I gave.

Hearing that I just shrugged I didn't really care about house points so she basically did nothing.

"Five points from Gryffindor also for disregard a professor." Added Snape.

"Ok can I go now." I said disregarding them even further.

"Mr. Longbottom we will not be leaving without a proper explaination." Said Mcgonagall in a stern voice. That did absolutely nothing to me.

"Hermione wasn't in the best condition all day. Ron decided to check on her during the feast where she was absent. When Quirrell came in talking about a troll in the DUNGEONS, key word dungeons me and Harry went to warn the two. I sent those three away becase Ron needed medical attention. Also we wouldn't have been able to run from a troll together eventually we'd have to make a last stand." I explained.

"I would say that is a proper explaination. 50 points to Gryffindor for bravery." Said Mcgonagall a small smile on her face.
