2 Getting Accustomed

The sun began to send it's rays through the window.

Finally, as he felt the warmth of the morning, Shin rubbed his eyes which had barely shut through a whole night of reading. As he closed his book, the door to his library opened to a lovely girl who looked to be 18 or 19 pushed a cart towards his desk.

"Young master Shin, did you not sleep again?" asked the maid

"Well, I don't think I'll be able to shut my eyes until I learn all there is to know about this world." said Shin as he stretched after standing from his chair.

"Well, young master, if I am allowed to speak." said the young maid as she waited for Shin's approval.

Shin nodded after hearing her.

"Young master, I believe that even if you learn all that is written on these books, it won't matter since more history will be forged out in the world by the time you finally read all the books in here." said the maid in a low voice while she served him tea and gave him breakfast.

"I couldn't agree more." said Shin while he took a sip from his cup. "I have finally completed all the books in this room, all 23,659 of them. And I think it's time for me to venture out in the world and discover more."

Shin had arrived in this world about five years ago. When he first came here he was in a very confused state and had been frightened by all the things and people around him. The body which the voice had told him about had turned out to be the son of a demon. Yet that was not all of it, his father was one of the 72 demon lords that stood above all of their empire. In fact his father Mikoto Kartzu was the holder of the 53 seat of the demon lords. With his father being a seat holder, even if it was one of the lower ones, this gave Shinkei the opportunity to learn more about this world and his own species. In the first days of arriving in this world. Shinkei had at first felt overwhelmed and terrified. Yet after the fear passed, he felt unending curiosity.

He learned that with his position as one of the demon lords, his father had control of about 10 million square miles. And that this world was unimaginably huge, if he were to scale it to earth then it would be over 1 million times larger.

After learning his position as the son of one of the demon lords, Shinkei felt ecstatic but soon he began to learn about his position in the family. Although he was the son of a demon lord, he was the 16th child born to his father after 6 brothers and 9 sisters. Which gave him the lowest position in the family. Soon he discovered that before he had arrived, the old owner of his body knew that he was a nobody and had chosen to instead get drunk with his friends and gamble away his money all the time. He was considered the scum of his family for his position and his actions. In fact most of his brothers despised him, and only a few of his servants and his parents actually cared about what he did.

His siblings despised him for his strength which would be the weakest among them. His standing was the lowest in their family and even treated their servants better than him. But what really struck the nail in the coffin, was his looks. His sisters despised him because he was gifted with one of the most terribly handsome faces in existence, and yet he wasted his life as a drunkard and a nobody. What made it worse was that when they chose their marriage partners they would subconsciously compare them with him. And this would make it near impossible to chose someone who could rival the looks of their useless brother which they saw everyday.

His brothers hated him with even more of a passion and they were also more blatantly obvious about it. Whenever they would have spars with him they would purposefully strike harder and beat him, always aiming for his face. They hated that he had the best looks in their family. He would constantly flirt with their wives and concubines. Of course they would not take his declarations of love seriously since he held no power, they couldn't help but furiously blush whenever he spoke with them. Some of them couldn't even look him in the eyes, since they felt a subtle feeling of attraction and getting lost in them.

After learning about his body's previous actions, Shinkei decided to obtain a better knowledge of this world in order to get out of his current situation in his family. That had led him to start learning about his demon body and the world that surrounded him.

First he had focused on himself and becoming stronger, this had led him to train day in and day out with the best trainers he could obtain. He discovered how to strengthen his soul using human souls as sacrifices. Absorbing the souls of humans allowed his soul to further develop, this allowed his mind to become clearer and sharper and have better defenses against attacks to itself.

At first he believed that he would be unwilling to use the human beings, a race which he had previously belonged to, as a supplement to further strengthen himself. Yet in time he became unfeeling towards his former species. Soon after he realized that his natural attitude which was once uninterested and uncaring, had become determined, curious, confident, and that he gave off a manly charm. Continuing his training he discovered that while training vigorously helped the body, it was faster to eat the meat of certain animals that could help strengthen certain parts of his body.

Yet the beasts which offered magnificent improvements were only provided to the upper nobility such as his father and the eldest 5 brothers. This meant that if he wanted to improve his body he had to venture into the forest and hunt the beasts that would benefit him. Yet soon the benefits became lesser and the hunt became more dangerous. This lead him instead continue to train and use his time to learn about the world in which he now inhabited.

As he contemplated on his time spent in this world. He saw his maid leave for the door. She pushed a cart containing the empty trays of his breakfast. As she neared the door she tucked in her two beautiful golden wings to her back.

His maid belonged to a race which looked like and were called angels. They were proficient in healing magic. This was their main job since they didn't have much attack power and relied on their physical prowess to battle. Many races could heal using magic but what really set the angels apart was, that they could heal both demons and humans. This was something no other race could do, but although it might seem like a useful ability it also caused them much trouble.

In his previous life Angels had been seen as holy beings and messengers of God. In this world things were different. They were not viewed as holy beings or messengers of God. Still though they were respected by both humans and Demons for their powerful healing abilities. They would evolve through their life based on their power.

When they reached a certain proficiency in healing they would shed their white feathers as pure as silk and whiter than the clouds for golden ones. These golden wings would be entrancing, beautiful and complex, they had a golden color and were pure without imperfections, they had a slight look as if it was the most pure honey. The golden color would signify they had reached the level of even being able to replace complete lost limbs.

Yet this wasn't the pinnacle of their healing abilities. If they were able to surpass others and become even more powerful in their magic they would grow another 2 wings and their power would rise as well. Their titles would change from just angel to archangel. They would be able to completely heal all injuries as long as the heart and brain were intact. It wouldn't mater if all your arteries were cut, or if all your blood was sucked dry. As long as your heart and brain still existed then they would be able to completely recreate your body. The heart was necessary because it contained the life energy of the being. While the brain would be important because it contained the person's soul and memories.

If their brain was destroyed, they would still be able to recreate their body, but their memories would be lost and their soul would be reduced to the state of a child. In some more extreme cases if the brain was destroyed and the angel wasn't powerful enough then the person would become a vegetable.

But all of this would be ignored if the angels were able to reach the legendary level of Healer Saint. This was a level that was obtainable to anyone who had healing powers, but was so hard to achieve that there hadn't been one in over 10,000 years. They would be powerful enough to completely restore a persons body, life force, soul, and memories, from just a mere though. They also had the powerful ability to extend life.
