22 Chapter 22 Ruins(1)

On the back of the flying sparrow, Xu Feng and the others soon made great progess. They were merely a 2 days away from reaching their destination.

The sun was setting, as dawn soon approched the sky, Xu Feng set up camp besides a large tree in the forest.

The tent wasn't extravagent, but it had a basic defensive array that kept bugs and other such insects away from the camp, and the aura of an core formation realm expert was more than enough to deter wild animals and demon beasts from attacking the members.

On one side, Xu Feng patiently roasted his roasted demon rabbit meat. The smell of the roasted delicacy soon sprea throughout the camp, and the granddaughter of the grandelder, Jun Ling, approached him, and said in a rather embrassed tone,

"Can I have some? I'm not good at cooking..."

"Sure"

Xu Feng allowed her to eat because he felt curiosity towards this women who ignored him. Acting indifferent, he said

"Stop staring at me, if you have anyting to say, hust say it..."

Startled, she then said in a curious tone " You know, many people covet my beauty, they look at me with lust filled eyes, but you don't seem to care, so I want to know why?"

After being silent for a long time, so long that Jun Ling thought that he didn't want to answer her question, in a melancholic voice Xu Feng said " In my eyes, there is no one that I can trust, not one person, everyone seeks something from me, it saddens me, so I gave up on people, so in my eyes women are nothing but flesh and bones regardless of how beautiful they are...."

"It's a pity, whatever women made you give up on people, isn't worthy of making you give up on everyone, after all not everyone seeks something without paying them back you know...." said Jun Ling in a piting voice.

"How did you know that the person who betrayed me was a women?," said Xu Feng in a surprised tone.

"Your eyes, they seemed conflicted like a part of you hates to trust and another wants to, I feel deep anger for whoever caused you to feel this, as I fell that you're not that bad, at least you're far better than the fools who stare at me, that's why I pity you, you desrve better," said Jun Ling with a calm voice.

"He! He!" Lughed Xu Feng in a sorrowful voice, and then he earnestly said "I'm used to this."

"You should understand, it's a fact that not everyone in this world is like what you think, it's worth trusting people, when you do, that lonliness in your eyes will fade away..."

After saying this, Jun left a stunned Xu Feng behind. Laughing once again, he thought how nice it would be if "not everyone in this world is like what I think," and looked up at the shining stars in the sky, wondering how he will find such a person.

Looking at him talking and laughing with Jun Ling, Liqui Jie felt a sense of loss, before she knew it, she had come to admire this man in front of her, he seemed so unique, he was someone who didn't care about appearances, wealth of monetary possession, he seemed like someone who loves for life rather than for the sake of it, such a disposition was like finding a needle in a haystack, nearly impossible.

Seeing the sorrow in her eyes, her friend Bao An said in a impaitent tone "Just go talk to him.."

Looking at how her friend was still hesistating, she said "He's a rare specimen allright, so go talk and stop wondering about useless shit, if he like you he like you, if he doesn't I'll drink with you to wash away the sorrow, go what do you have to loose?"

Hearing this, Liqui sent a glance of gratitude towards this friend of hers and walked towards the place Xu Feng sat.

Sitting on the log besides him, she didn't ask say anything about her feeling instead she said "The sky is very beautiful today, don't you think?"

After a long while, Xu Femg replied "Yes," he was intrigued why this girl that liked him didn't tell hi about her feelings, as even though they talked a long distance away from him, he still picked up parts of their conversation with his enhanced senses at the Core formation realm.

" The stars represent something that we may never be able to achieve, the mere size is unfathomable, when looking at the starry sky, I then look at my hands and compare them, everything, regardless of how small a star in the sky may seem, it is always bigger than what we imagine it to be, that proved 2 things, 1 we are insignificant, less than ants in front of heaven and earth, and 2 there are endless possibilities in the universe, so never give up on people..."

Just like how his senses picked up on their conversation, her's picked up on his as well as she was curious about what he said to Jun.

After saying this, Liqui left with a undescribably grace that even immortal gods didn't posses, a pride that seeped into her very bone, declaring that she'll never lower herself to talk about her feelings unless he changed his views. In her voice wasn't pity, or authority, but rather strictness, like one a teacher would use to their student when they didn't understand something.

Before she left though, Xu Feng said "Thank you, I'll keep your worlds in mind," and continued to drink the flask of alcohol in his hand. He then deeply pondered about the world of Liqui before falling asleep in his tent.
