4 Nkosi Johnson

"Nkosi!!! Wake up! It's time for school!" Yelled a woman's voice from a distant room. "Nah I'm good!" He whispered under his breath. "What the hell did you say to me?!" She yelled back from the other room. "Nothing ma! I ain't say nothin!" Nkosi yelled in a nervous tone. "Black mothers got super hearing I swear!" He said in his mind, knowing better to keep his words in his heart in fear of incurring his mother's wrath.

Looking at the alarm clock on his dresser glowing red saying 5:50 a.m., he see he has another ten minutes till it goes off. Deciding to roll over and close his eyes, he drifted off into the dreamworld.

While his eyes are closed and falling back to sleep, sparkling lights in that form the silhouette of a person drifted through his wall. "Ah...Sorry kid, I'm choosing you for no reason other than you don't have anything in this world and would go unnoticed...is what I would say if not for the fact that I literally tore through multiple realms to get here, you're the first person I am seeing, and am too weak to look for anyone else, better luck next time." The lord commander jokingly stated while looking down at the young boy before him, with that said he floated over the boy and merged his soul into Nkosi's body.

The lord commander forcing his soul inside Nkosi cause him to go into a mild seizure while trying to snuff out Nkosi's soul. Shaking and thrashing all over his bed, his mother yelled from the kitchen hearing the commotion "Boy, you alright in there!? I don't care that you don't wanna go to school get yo ass up now! Don't make me come in there!".

By some act of God, Nkosi's soul jolted awake at the sound of his mother's voice, while on its last legs of existence. "What!?" The lord commander was shocked at the boy's soul being able to come back from his exertion of soul power to snuff him out. "Oh what the hell, I'll rest here for a bit and let you live for a little longer, I'm too weak to go all out on you anyway." With that he drifted to the recesses of Nkosi's mind and closed off his senses to the outside world.

Jolting awake, Nkosi notice he's covered In sweat, thinking nothing of it, he gets up to go shower and get ready for school. Walking down the hall of the apartment him, his mom Shuri Williams, and little brother Nkosana Johnson lived in. Nkosi went to the bathroom and looked In the mirror, what looked back was a 14 year old teen standing at five foot eight inches tall with a beautiful shade of unblemished dark chocolate skin, Long locs that fell to the top of his shoulder, and deep honey brown eyes that would trap a bee.

Showering, Brushing his teeth, washing his face, and pinning up his hair with a few hanging loosely in his face. Nkosi rushed to hurry, seeing as he took too long to get up from the moment his mother called him.

Finally getting dressed to go to school, he grabbed his backpack and took off out the door of his apartment. Making his way down the stairs, he came across the vicelords chilling at the base of the steps leading to outside. Keeping his head down, he politely spoke "Excuse me, excuse me don't mind me." He said softly trying squeeze passed the 7-8 grown men.

"Actually I do mind you shorty, you interrupting my morning peace, what the hell is wrong with you?" One of the vicelords said with obvious irritation on his face, not looking at who was saying excuse me. "I'm sorry, I'm just trying to get to school on time" Nkosi said out of fear. "Nkosi that you?" Sobering up a bit, the vicelord asked. "Yea..." Nkosi responded quickly. "get outta here and get to school shorty before yo mama come down here and try to fuck us up again! We tired of her damn voice much less you irritating us this early" The man said sounding annoyed. "You ain't gotta tell me twice" he said while weaving through the men and darting out the door.

"Whew...." Nkosi let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. Sensing the body's fear, the lord commander watched the entire interaction with the vicelords ready to step in should his vessel be put in danger. "Wow..." the lord commander was shocked at how soft his vessel's originator was. "I'll be doing you a disservice by not taking over your body, and leading you on a path of vengeance and destruction." He justified.

Walking down the block of his neighborhood, he noticed his boys Jason and Marcus waiting for him at the corner. "Yo, Nkosi you late man, I missed shorty who ride the bus with the fat ass!" Marcus said disappointedly. "She wouldn't be interested in yo goof ass anyway." Jason looked at him in disdain.

A smile crept onto the face of Nkosi, these were his boys who he grew up with since kindergarten. Marcus is tall for his age of 15 standing at six foot and two inches. A light skinned black boy with a chiseled chin, almond eyes and a scar above his left eyebrow from playing basketball one summer.

Jason is the same height and age as Nkosi, with a mocha skinned complexion, dark brown eyes, and a devilish crooked smile, always looking like he's up to something.

It's a wonder how they all became friends in the first place. With Nkosi's Soft and introverted nature who couldn't hurt a fly, even in a tough city as Chicago, Marcus's outgoing and womanizing ways who's had more girlfriends than underwear, and Jason's sneaky and devilish acts who's surely brought the trio a fare share of trouble .

Feeling the contentment of his vessel, the lord commander frowned. "So these are your brother's? How useless...You have no need for such trivialities. These boys will turn on you at the thought of instant benefits, regardless of how long you've known each other. Money, women, and power have always been the pair of scissors that's cut the ties between brother's." The lord commander spoke in his heart sitting in the dark corner of Nkosi's mind, looking as if he can see across space and time to a distant memory.
