Let’s Have A Talk

Melody stared at me with widespread eyes. She couldn't believe that I made a contract with one of the four dragons.

"You must be lying! Prove it!"

I put on the pendant and chanted, "Come forth, White Dragon!"

The pendant sprung to life and levitated in the air. The dragon on the pendant started to move and flew a few paces away. The once silver dragon was now a three story tall white dragon!

"I didn't expect to be called so soon. What is it?"

Melody was awestruck. It really was one of the four dragons!

I spoke to Atlas, "This is my friend, Melody. She wanted to see for herself that we signed a contract so I called you here."

Atlas looked in my direction, "Would you tell me a story from the other world since i'm here?"

I glanced over in Melody's direction then looked back at Atlas, "A different time. I think I would like to know a bit about you first, and, if it's alright, Melody can ask some questions as well?"

Atlas pondered a bit, "Very well. What is it you want to know? I will answer a question."

Melody and I talked for a bit then decided on a question.

I projected my voice, "Do you know any ancient magics?"

Atlas thought to himself for a bit then responded, "I myself can only cast one type of magic and that is water magic. Since ice is a form of water magic I can do that as well. Although, I believe humans do not know how to cast snow magic, though I can."

I was pleased, "Thanks for the information. Teach me snow magic some time and I will tell you a few stories from the other world."

Atlas replied, "Alright, I will hold you to that. I'll be taking my leave for now, good bye."

Atlas transformed into a tiny silver dragon once again and went back on my pendant. Melody still looked dumbfounded. I simply sat down and patted the spot next to me. She sat down next to me on the grassy hill as I looked towards the horizon. She stared at me with awe and wonder in her eyes. Without her even saying anything I knew what she was thinking, 'Who are you? What are you?' Even though I wish to tell her everything it is best not too.

I changed the mood, "Hey Melody, when we first met, those men were harassing you because you are gay, is that correct?"

Melody's face became sullen almost immediately. I knew this was a heavy topic but I did not mean any harm in my words.

I reassured her, "Don't worry, I'm here for you and i'm sure I can understand since I am too."

This was the truth to some degree. Just because I am a girl now that doesn't mean I will suddenly like boys. Although, I liked boys in my old world. So it appears that I'm technically bisexual.

Melody was surprised, "R-Really?"

I nodded my head, "I'm gay, you are not the only one you know. There are many people like us in this world but are afraid of what society will think of them. For me, you are the first I have told about this."

Melody felt touched and began to tear up, "Thank you for telling me. I know it can be hard for you to tell someone else."

In truth I know how Melody feels. I had gone through similar experiences as Melody because I wanted to be a girl. Now though, I feel bad for her because I got my wish but she is still wishing. It seemed unfair.

I moved my hand on top of hers, "You're not alone."

I pulled Melody into a tight embrace and she wept with mixed emotions. She just kept saying 'thank you' over and over again with a shaky voice while crying a river of tears on my shoulder. I started to tear up as well. Back in my old world I was alone too. It was the first time I could talk about personal things with someone. I was very happy. She pulled back and smiled. She looked really cute up close and I could feel my heart pounding out of my chest. I knew that this time though it wasn't because of the previous owner it was because of me. I played it cool and went back to my original siting position but I kept my hand on hers. Melody took the initiative and interlaced her fingers in mine. After a little while I decided to get back to it.

I was nervous but happy, "Shall we continue our training?"

We unraveled our fingers and stood up.

I turned to look at Melody and suddenly an idea popped in my mind. What if song magic wasn't innate? I originally figured out how to do it in steps like other spells. So what if others could do it the way I did it as well? The problem with this is my circumstances. I sung that day with the feelings I had from my previous life; extreme sadness. Most people have not experienced this. If my guess is correct then there are other ways to jump start song magic. As long as it was an extremely strong emotion put into the song then it would become song magic. For example, extreme happiness. Then song magic will continue to be used every time one would sing just like how I had tried to sing differently after and the song magic still worked. And It is just my luck to have someone who can be my guinea pig.

"Melody, since you have taught me a magic its my turn. I will teach you song magic."

Melody laughed a bit but when she saw my serious expression her smile faded.

"I think I have figured out the secret hexes."

If this worked, who was to say there weren't other tricks to obtain other rare magics? There's only one way to find out! Let's test out my hypothesis!

I am sorry for the delay. I have been sick for the past few days and have not been able to write. I will continue to post but from now onwards I will post every other day. Thank you for understanding.
