Omake: Things Not To Do against Going Second

"Yuuna! Duel me!" Shouted an eager Serena, banging at her door all the while she does so. She responded with a groan, slowly rising from her bed as she glanced at the door of her dorm room, one that the purple haired girl kept banging over and over.

She heaved a long sigh as she slowly dragged herself over to the door, unlocking it and opening the door and meeting the energetic form of one ponytailed girl, already dressed fully and duel disk in hand.

"Let's duel, Yuuna!" Serena said energetically, and she could only stare at the indigo haired girl in exasperation.

"Serena it's…" She took a moment to glance at the clock next to her bedside, "5 in the morning, it's far too early to duel." Especially as she had just woken up from a long night session of grinding in her Duel World.

"It's never too early to duel!" The usually stoic indigo haired girl declared seriously, though the excited tone still in her voice as she stared at her.

She then blinked several times to refocus her vision, and it was only then that she realized that the indigo haired girl wasn't alone. Trailing behind her and holding onto the girl's coattails was none other than Mei, seemingly still half asleep just like herself.

She glanced back at the indigo haired girl and guessed that if she pulled Mei out of bed for something like this, then there was feasibly no chance that she, the girl that Serena wanted to duel in the first place, would be left alone.

So she let out a sigh and submitted herself to the girl's whims.

"At least let me shower first…"

-

And so they eventually set out to the dorm's courtyard at dawn, she could barely even see the staff of the Academia mingling about, and of course no other students were out except for them.

She did her best to stop a yawn from leaving her mouth, a futile endeavour, but she at least tried to.

She could see Mei nodding off from the corner of her eye, having sat down at one of the benches and was slowly but surely falling asleep. She was, of course, still half asleep even after their journey to the courtyard.

She was too, to be honest. She hadn't even had breakfast yet. None of them had to be honest. And yet, somehow, one of them seemed to be full of energy even this early in the morning.

"Alright. Then let's start!" Serena shouted aloud as she hefted her left arm, her duel disk's duel blade activating and signalling that the ponytailed indigo haired girl was ready for the duel.

Once more, she lets out a sigh, before raising her own duel disk and activating it. Its purple energy blade manifested from the side of the duel disk, and the duel then started.

""DUEL!""

Yuuna: 4000LP

Serena: 4000LP

"I'll let you go first Yuuna!" The indigo haired girl shouted, and she was sure that she saw Mei jerked awake from the sheer volume that the girl, the small girl quickly looking around as if to find the source of the commotion.

That earned a snort from her, something that the purple haired girl did not miss as she began to glare at her. Albeit sleepily. It was cute if she was being honest.

"Then I guess it's my turn then." She said as she began to sift through her cards, thinking and finding the plays that she could do with them. "I guess I'll start with normal summoning Chamber."

And she started the duel with a normal summon, placing the monster card on her diel disk's sword projection and letting the machine do its magic. And soon enough, a black victorian dress wearing maid with dragonic features appeared on her side of the field. And with a duster in one hand, she performed a curtsy as she entered the board.

Chamber Dragonmaid - Dark/Dragon/Level 4/Effect: 500/1800

"Chamber effect." She declared, intending to abbreviate as much as she can to save up time and energy. "On normal or special I'll add a 'Dragonmaid' Spell or Trap, and I'll add Dragonmaid Hospitality."

Declaring so she took out a card from her deck, and revealed it to be the Spell card in question, before shuffling it into.the cards that she has on hand. "Hospitality." And she then immediately activated the added Spell card.

"Special summon a 'Dragonmaid' from hand or grave in defence, then I can send a 'Dragonmaid' with the same Attribute but a different level from deck to grave." She quickly explained the Spell's effect, though she had no doubts that Serena was already familiar with what it does having already dueled the deck many times.

"Special Parlor fro hand, mill Lorpar from deck." She said as she resolver the Spell's effect in sequence, summoning a monster from the hand and sending a monster with the same Attribute from her deck to the graveyard.

The parlor maid based humanoid dragon then appeared onto her field, summoned in defence position right next to Chamber. Carrying a steaming kettle of tea in one hand, and a sizeable napkin draped in the other.

Parlor Dragonmaid - Wind/Dragon/Level 3/Effect: 500/1700

"Parlor effect. On summon mill a 'Dragonmaid' card from deck to grave. I'll mill Changeover." And she quickly resolved her newly summoned monster's on summon effect. Sending the archetypal Fusion Spell from her deck to the graveyard.

"Wait-Yuuna! Aren't you going a bit too fast!?" Serena called out. "At least explain what you're doing properly and not shorten them!"

While that would be understandable, what with the card game being a two player game and everything, and the need of the opponent understanding what exactly it was that you were doing being an important part of the game, she was barely awake and wanted to dearly go back to bed, or grab something to eat or drink, anything would do at this point.

So instead of being courteous to her opponent's wishes and explaining what exactly it was that she had been doing, she instead ignored Serena and continued on with her plays. "Changeover graveyard effect." She declared.

"Target one 'Dragonmaid' I control and add it back to hand and bounce the monster. I'll target Chamber and add Changeover and bounce her back to hand." And in sequence, she resolved the Spell's graveyard effect, adding it from her graveyard to her hand and bouncing back the monster that she had normal summoned for the turn as the monster performed another curtsy.

"Changeover." Then she activated the Spell, placing it on her sword projection and letting the holographic projection of the card appear on the field. "Fuse Chamber and Nurse in hand." She said, as she revealed the two monsters in her hand.

Said two monsters then briefly made their appearance onto her field, with the black dressed maid and the purple coloured nurse humanoid dragon appearing briefly on her field before they began to fuse into a singular monster.

"Fusion Summon." She said simply, and with a snap of her finger, the fusion was then complete. "Come. House Dragonmaid." And the monster that appeared onto her field was none other than a victorian dressed maid, fixing her glasses with one hand as she performed a curtsy, her dragonic tail swinging elegantly as she did so.

House Dragonmaid - Light/Fusion/Dragon/Level 9/Effect: 3000/2000

"Set one. Pass." She said simply, as she set one backrow on the column that was adjacent to her Fusion Monster, and passed the turn to Serena. Ending with a board of a Fusion Monster and Parlor, a set card, and a single card left in her hand.

"Fast! That was too fast!" Serena said as she stared at the board that was assembled in what was most likely the fastest that she had seen her play. Then the ponytailed girl grinned savagely. "So you're finally treating me seriously then! Fine! I'll draw!"

The indigo haired girl drew for turn, getting up to six cards in her hand as she then moved from her Draw Phase into her Standby Phase. "Standby, House effect." She declared. "Target one 'Dragonmaid' I control and special a 'Dragonmaid' from hand or grave in defence whose Level is one higher or lower."

She of course only had one target that she could use the Fusion Monster's effect on, and she declared it. "Target Parlor, summon Nurse from grave. Maid Call." And with a snap of the victorian maid's dragonic fingers, the effect then resolves.

And next to the parlor maid, came a nursery maid. Dressed in a pink and white nurse outfit fit with her dragonic features, the monster appeared onto her side of the field with a curtsy just like all the others did.

Nurse Dragonmaid - Earth/Dragon/Level 2/Effect: 500/1600

And with another Dragonmaid monster being summoned, she activates their on summon effect. "Nurse effect." She declared. "On summon target a Level 4 or lower 'Dragonmaid' in grave except Nurse and special summon it."

Then she takes out the one legal target for the monster's effect that remained in her graveyard, revealing it for her opponent to see. "Special Chamber in defence." And placing it onto her duel disk's sword projection, and the black dress wearing maid dragon reappeared onto the field.

Chamber Dragonmaid - Dark/Dragon/Level 4/Effect: 500/1800

"Che, already with four monsters on the field!" Serena said with gritted teeth as she once again scried through the cards in her hand, searching for lines where she could out the board.

"I'll start with Fire Formation - Tenki!" The indigo haired girl shouted as she placed the card on her duel disk's sword projection, the holographic projection of the Continuous Spell appearing on her field, shining as the card was activated.

"When Fire Formation - Tenki is activated, I can add one Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior from my deck to my hand!" She declared, taking out a card directly from her deck and revealing it. "I'll add Lunalight Emerald Bird from my deck to my hand!"

Then she immediately placed the card on her duel disk' sword projection. "And I will normal summon it!" Serena shouted, and the emerald winged Beast-Warrior was summoned, dancing as she made her way onto the field.

Lunalight Emerald Bird - Dark/Beast-Warrior/Level 4/Effect: 1200/1000

"And with Fire Formation - tenki face-up on my field, all Beast-Warrior monsters on my field gains 100 attack!" And as she said that, a dark glow enveloped her monster, her attack being increased by 100 points.

Lunalight Emerald Bird - Dark/Beast-Warrior/Level 4/Effect: 1300/1000

"And Emerald Bird's effect!" The ponytailed girl declared. "If Lunalight Emerald Bird is normal or special summoned, I can send one 'Lunalight' card from my hand to the graveyard, and if I do, I can draw one card!"

And finished with explaining her monster's effect, Serena revealed a card in her hand that she intends to discard with her monster's effect. "I will discard Lunalight Yellow Marten from my hand, to draw one card!"

She then discarded the card, sending it to the graveyard with the monster's effect, and drawing a card as she replenished her hand back to five cards. "And now Lunalight Yellow Marten's effect!" She continued on.

"If this card is sent to the graveyard by a card effect, I can add one 'Lunalight' Spell or Trap from my deck to my hand!" The indigo haired girl explained the monster's graveyard effect, and she was too tired to even ask her to do her combo faster.

"I'll add the Spell, Lunalight Fusion from my deck to my hand!" Serena declared, revealing and adding her own archetypal Fusion Spell from her own deck to her hand. "Then I'll activate the other effect of Lunalight Yellow Marten!"

"If this card is in my hand or graveyard, I can target one 'Lunalight' card I control except 'Lunalight Yellow Marten' return it to the hand, and if I do, I can special summon this card in defence position, but banish it when it leaves the field!" The ponytailed girl explained the monster's other effect, activating it from the graveyard.

She then waved towards the one legal target in her field. "I'll target Lunalight Emerald Bird!" She declared so, intending to return it from the field back to her hand to summon back Lunalight Yellow Marten.

"Then I will activate my set card, Dragonmaid Tidying." She said as she chained a card in response to the activation of Yellow Marten's effect, flipping the set card face-up, and it shining as its effect was activated.

"This lets me target one Dragon monster I control and one card you control or in their grave and return them to the hand. I'll target Chamber and Emerald Bird and bounce them to the hand." She said, declaring her targets for the Trap card's effect.

And the effect resolved, she returned back the monster from her and Serena's side of the field, both being bounced back to her hand. And with the chain resolving backwards, Yellow Marten resolves without effect, much to Serena's dismay.

And though a face-up Dragon monster was returned to her hand, she couldn't resolve the effect of House Dragonmaid. One because it misses its timing as it is a 'when' effect, and as there isn't a legal target, what with Serena currently not waving a monster for her to destroy.

"Che! Then I'll activate Lunalight Fusion!" Srena shouted as she placed the card on her duel disk's sword projection, and the holographic projection of the Spell then appeared on her opponent's side of the field.

The card itself shines as its effects is activated. "This card lets me Fusion Summon one 'Lunalight' Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck using monsters from my hand or field as Fusion Material, but if you control a monster that was summoned from the Extra Deck, I can use one 'Lunalight' monster in my Deck or Extra Deck as fusion material!"

And the indigo haired girl revealed the cards that she would be using as materials for the Fusion Summon, revealing two cards that were in her hand. "I'll fuse Lunalight Emerald Bird and Lunalight White Rabbit from my hand, and Lunalight Crimson Fox straight from my deck!"

And the three monsters that she had declared briefly appeared onto her side of the field, the emerald winged Lunalight, hammer carrying Lunalight, and crimson fox tailed Lunalight all danced, before they all entered the purple and orange vortex and fused into a singular monster.

"Fusion Summon!" Serena shouted as she clasped her hands together, and brought them down, finishing her simple fusion chant. "Appear! Lunalight Sabre Dancer!" And appearing onto her side of the field was one that carried two sabres in their hands, their right side of the field masked by a moon shaped mask, and multiple golden ornaments adorned the Fusion Monster's body.

Lunalight Sabre Dancer - Dark/Fusion/Beast-Warrior/Level 9/Effect: 3000/2600

And the Fusion Monster then received a boost by the effect of Tenki, glowwing with a dark purple energy as its attack was boosted by 100 points.

Lunalight Sabre Dancer - Dark/Fusion/Beast-Warrior/Level 9/Effect: 3100/2600

"Lunalight Sabre Dancer receives 200 attack points for each Beast-Warrior in my graveyard!" The indigo haired girl explained the monster's status boosting effect. "I have in my graveyard, Lunalight Yellow Marten, Lunalight Emerald Bird, Lunalight White Rabbit, and Lunalight Crimson Fox! Which means Sabre Dancer's attack will increase by 800!"

And as she explained so, the sabre wielding Lunalight Fusion Monster twirled her weapons of choice, receiving an innate attack boost thanks to its own continuous effect. Increasing its attack to shy off of 4000.

Lunalight Sabre Dancer - Dark/Fusion/Beast-Warrior/Level 9/Effect: 3900/2600

"Then I'll activate the effect of Lunalight Crimson Fox in my graveyard!" Serena declared, now resolving the effects of the monsters that she had used as fusion material straight from the deck thanks to her Fusion Spell's effect.

"If Lunalight Crimson Fox is sent to the graveyard by a card effect, I can target one face-up monster you control and change its attack to zero until the end of this turn!" And she then pointed towards the one monster that she had accidentally summoned in attack position.

"I'll reduce House Dragonmaid's attack to zero!" The indigo haired girl shouted, and the silhouette of the red tailed Lunalight monster appeared briefly on her side of the field, dancing around her victorian dragonic maid, reducing her attack to zero.

House Dragonmaid - Light/Fusion/Dragon/Level 9/Effect: 0/2000

This… might actually be a bad position for her. But at the very least Serena still doesn't have lethal-

"Now I'll activate the effect of Lunalight Purple Butterfly in my hand!" The ponytailed girl continued on, revealing one of the many cards that she still had in her hand. "I can send this card from my hand or field to target a 'Lunalight' monster I control and give it an additional 1000 points of attack until the end of this turn!"

And she then sent the card from her hand as cost, and then pointed towards the one legal target for the monster's effect. "I'll target Lunalight Sabre Dancer, and give it an additional 1000 points of attack!"

And the butterfly winger Lunalight briefly manifested onto Serena's field, dancing around the sabre wielding Lunalight Fusion Monster, and boosting her attack even more.

Lunalight Sabre Dancer - Dark/Fusion/Beast-Warrior/Level 9/Effect: 4900/2600

"And since another Lunalight is in the graveyard, Lunalight Sabre Dancer's attack goes up even more!" And then with her own innate boost, Sabre Dancer's attack rose even more, going past 5000 points of attack.

Lunalight Sabre Dancer - Dark/Fusion/Beast-Warrior/Level 9/Effect: 5200/2600

Ah, this might be a really difficult situation, she had just realized. She can't even pop the Fusion Monster with the effect of House if Parlor were to tag out into Lorpar at the start of the Battle Phase, since it's an effect that targets, and Sabre Dancer has targeting immunity. And since House can only destroy opponent's monsters, she can't even destroy itself to save Life Points.

"Battle!" Serena declared. "Go! Lunalight Sabre Dancer! Attack House Dragonmaid! Full Moon Sabre!" And under the indigo haired girl's order the Fusion Monster leapt high into the sky, twirling her sabres as she went and struck down her own Fusion Monster, dealing far over lethal damage in a single attack.

"Kyaaah!" She shouted as she was thrown back from the resulting attack. All of her Life Points being reduced in a single blow with what was more or less a direct attack.

Yuuna: 0LP

"I-I did it!" Serena shouted with wide eyes, and a huge smile started to form on the indigo haired girl as the situation started to dawn on her. "I did it! I managed to win against Yuuna!" She cheered

"-e more."

"Eh?" The ponytailed girl turned her head towards her as she slowly started to stand up, dusting off the first and dust that stuck to her clothes, making sure to clean herself as much as she could.

There was a catch to her having a System that lets her have a Skill that adjusts her starting hand and basically buy and craft any cards under the sun along with creating a whole sub dimension for her to farm DP, and that is, if she were to lose, then all of those DP would disappear.

She had just done an all night farming session on her Duel World, getting quite a good sum of DP that she intended to use on making more support cards, but now that she had lost to Serena while she was dueling half asleep… it was all gone.

"One more. Serena." So she said to the ponytailed girl with a look that must have been quite something judging from the girl's reaction, as she visibly gulped before making a brave face.

"H-heh! Of course! I'll duel you as much as you like!" Serena bravely declared.

And in return, she smiled.

-

It should be noted, that on that day, Yuuna had dried whatever DP that Serena had as the indigo haired girl did not won a single duel since then.
