1 Prologue

"She went this way!" 

The girl's heart raced as she ran barefoot over the forest floor. Her long, vibrantly red hair flowed out from behind her as her bright blue eyes frantically scanned the darkness for a way out of this place. This vile place in which she was forced to live. A pearl white dragon flew closely behind her, hanging low to the ground as not to be seen. It was long and nimble with what looked to be translucent feathers running down its spine and fanning out at the tail. 

Suddenly, the ground gave out below her and she felt herself rolling down a steep hill. She hit the ground hard,, a loud "oof" echoed out of her throat. Covering her mouth, she frantically crawled to her feet as pain shot through her left leg. 

Are you okay, Scarlett? The voice was in her head but she knew it well. The girl named Scarlett was born with one soul to two bodies, the sign of a pyroniam.

"I'm fine." she responded in gasps for air. Her body ached her lungs felt as though they were on fire, and she feared for more for someone else rather then herself. "We must hurry before they find us, Amino…" However, much slower due to a sprain in her left ankle, the young girl pushed herself forward. 

"Let me carry you." Amino said, worry and fear reverberated in his voice. "We can fly away from here.."

"No. They'll shoot you down and capture us." Scarlett stated, glancing back to see if they were still following. Light shown in the distance, they appeared to be far away, but Scarlett didn't slow her pace. "They have dragons of their own. For now, we must get far away and find Aziel." She placed a hand on her stomach and it lingered there. "He'll keep us safe…"
