And I was there, laying on the side with my hands between my knees on the backseat of the truck. Shutting my eyes close, pretending to be asleep and expecting to be, soon enough. Static was playing on the radio, and the sound of the rocks on the road being crushed by the tires were the chorus of the melody. You would also, once in a while hear branches hit the roof of the truck. The black lather that covered the seats was absorbing the heat. The windows remained closed for the dust, that the constant friction kept arousing, to stay in the background. Sweat began to run down my forehead, the saltiness of it rubbed my cheeks leaving behind an acidic feeling. My eyes remained shut. The white noise strabiated, suddenly the doors opened and I was left behind. For a split second I was able to feel the wind hit my face, then a heavy weight pushed me down as the door shut cutting the breeze. My hair was hanging down the seat to the floor. A seagull screamed and the door that revealed my head opened. I turned my eyes towards the figure that gifted me shadow, and there she was. Little Lillie wrapping my face with her little hands.

_They said you were asleep, I did not believe them, and I was right._ Lillie said with a toothless smile. She could hardly reach the seat, where I was lying, standing in the sand. Her tan skin blindingly bright to my sight. She laughed and ran away, exposing me to direct sunlight. My head was heavy but the heat felt painful, the lather was burning my skin, I could not breathe.

Barefooted, I walked on top of the cracked shells that laid on the sand. Around the palm trees that decorated the entrance leaving behind a red trace.

_Nariiiiiiii_ little lilly yelled while running towards me_ you are bleeding!_ her voice kept bouncing from high to low so that she could scream as loud as she could

_ shhhhhh, no, I am not, my feet are proclaiming the land they are stepping on.

I could see her confusion through her eyebrows.

_ You are LYING!!!_ She then ran through the door.

_Merlin! Nari is LYING!, she told a lie! Tell Mike!

_ Merlin was boiling tomatoes and pepper while clearly ignoring little Lillie.

_ma.._ Merlin turned towards me as I rubbed my soles in a rag that was found in the ground. I was not meant to be noticed but since little Lillie had already announced my entrance, I might as well "small talk" my way out.

_ Rosette came not long ago. She wanted me to tell you_ She then proceeded to turn the stove off.

_I wanted you to hang some lights in the trees, though i don't have any, you could take some from Mammia's hen house, i know she left them there.

_i don't, but you can brake in her house and take it, she used to hang them near the door, get through the window or something, you are small, you can do that. Take Liliam.

_take the keys of the van, i know you won't crash it, otherwise you can start getting ready to strip near the bar for some coins.

_I wont_ i laughed for the sake of my sanity, otherwise I would have affirmed i would do as she said.

I grabbed the keys of the old van and left. Little Lillie was staring at me.

_You are rude.._ then she slowly walked towards the seat next to mine.

Little Lillie was not dumd,but i knew I could trust her with some things, she's one of those kids that know the meaning of a secret. Through the rear-view mirror I kept looking towards her. She was only looking out the window with an empty face.
