5 CHAPTER 5

3 weeks pregnant.

That was what the doctor diagnosed me with.

"I fucking hate morning sickness," I said to myself as I flushed my vomit.

I'd been having morning sickness and boy, I had to say that I wasn't a fan. Instead of getting up every morning with a smile on my face like I used to, I woke up with a dizzy and baffled feeling. The baby inside me was driving me nuts. I never knew being pregnant was this hard.

I went back to bed and checked my phone. Several people messaged me but I dismissed them all and clicked on my conversation with Hailey.

From: Hailey

Don't forget to drink your meds and eat properly! Make the baby born healthy, 'kay?

I smiled at her text. I really couldn't wish for a more perfect best friend other than Hailey. Even with every ruckus that had happened to me, she never left my side and she was always there to guide me. I swear, if guardian angels were true, Hailey was my one.

To: Hailey

Yep, yep. Roger that.

Hey, let's buy supplies for the next sem

It didn't take long before she gave me an answer.

Form: Hailey

Whyyy so early?

To: Hailey

It'll be a pain in the ass if we buy last minute.

From: Hailey

Kkk

Btw, did you eat?

I sighed.

I found out that my baby was a very picky one just this recently when I opted to throw up every time he or she didn't like the food I ate. As a frugal person, I found that habit a waste, considering I was actually throwing away food. That was why I only ate a small amount of my main meal every time and just devoured whenever the baby pushed me to.

To: Hailey

Not yet. Just threw up a while ago. I'll give myself a rest first before eating.

From: Hailey

Huh. That baby's such a persnickety.

Just like the father.

I rolled my eyes.

I started to read pregnancy books from the day I found out that I was pregnant and it was indicated in one of the books that pregnant women would likely vomit and feel nauseous because of hormonal changes. So whatever I was going through right now wasn't connected to genetics.

To: Hailey

This is normal. Try to be pregnant and you'll know.

From: Hailey

Haha, whatever. See ya later.

We agreed to go to the mall after lunch. After talking to Hailey through chat, I opened all of my social media accounts to check on my notifications. My notifications blew up because of some posts I was tagged in and some comments on the same posts about me. I responded to the posts and comments as well.

The posts were just school related. There was this post with my whole class after we all got to finish sewing our own design of blouses as our practical exam for finals. Another post was from five weeks ago when my groupmates chose me to model for our finished product. Then some random posts I was tagged in.

I started to scroll on my timeline by the time I finished checking everything and most posts that I saw were some posts that either mentioned or tagged Raver. Some of his friends congratulated him for passing to cornell and there were even funny ones where they edited eithan's picture in a banner for the diseased and when they posted some of Raver's quirky photos then congratulated him on their captions.

My shoulders immediately fell when I thought about Raver's departure once again. I was proud of him for getting in, yes. But I couldn't help but to feel sad and cry about it. I couldn't help but to imagine him living far away from me and finding love from someone else.

Although, it wasn't like he wasn't doing it since then, Celine. I told myself.

How could I not accept and get used to it when he'd been playing with girls all along? That was what got me pregnant in the first place. It hurt everytime I found out that Raver had slept with someone or when he was flirting with someone. So what was the difference between him finding someone that he truly loved and having a physical relationship with someone?

He would love someone. That was the difference. He wouldn't be infatuated or attracted to someone.

Because if he loved someone, I wouldn't stand a chance anymore. If he loved someone, he wouldn't be mine anymore. If he loved someone, I couldn't have him anymore.

I didn't realize that I started to cry. I wiped my tears off and decided to sleep so that my thoughts would stop from running.

"My clipper keeps disappearing. I swear, this is the tenth time I'm buying a clipper this year," I lamented at Hailey.

"Someone must've stolen them," she replied as she checked on some threads on the rack. "Whatever, I don't even know what you're pertaining to." I chuckled and continued to pick a few things that I'd need for the whole semester.

"Do you think I should buy fabrics?" I asked and went through the rolls of fabric lined up along the pathway.

"The last time you hoarded fabrics you weren't able to use them." I looked up to her while she was crossing her arms over her shoulder and bringing my basket for me. I frowned and puckered my lips.

"Hey, I used all of those. I made scrunchies and headbands out of them to sell in our school fair."

"I mean for your actual sewing in school."

I stepped back and walked away from the swarm of fabrics as I dangled my arm over Hailey's available arm.

"You're probably right. I mean, I have to stop studying for a while because of the baby. I'll just attend this year's first sem then halt for maybe a year or so." I smiled poorly at Hailey. She gave me one as well. But not the kind that sympathizes me, the kind that empathizes me.

"That's fine. They say 'it's never late to learn' so you'll absolutely still be of age if you continue studying after a gap year."

"Thanks, Hails. Don't know how I'd survive without you," I said and snuggled closer to her.

"Don't mention it," She responded and started singing the "FRIENDS" theme song. I started laughing and joined her as we went to the counter to pay my purchases.

We didn't stop giggling until we reached the counter. The cashier was eyeing us pathetically like we were some losers.

"Cash or card, ma'am?" She asked as she punched the first item she got from my basket.

I was about to answer her when I heard my phone ringing from my purse. I got my phone out of my purse and read Raver's name on the screen. I picked up the call.

"Hey, what's up?"

"I'm in your place. Where are you?" He said.

I looked back at the lady and waved my card to declare that I'd be using my card. Hailey eyed me conspicuously and mouthed him that it was Raver who called. She just bobbed her head and smirked.

"I'm in the mall with Hailey. We went out to buy some stuff for school."

"Oh. Will you be home by dinner?"

"Uh, yeah. I guess so."

"Okay, great. I'll be cooking dinner."

"Sure. We'll be there before seven." There was a mute for a couple of seconds then he responded, "'We'?" I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah. Me and Hailey." I raised my right eyebrow as if he could see me right now.

"What? Why?" Then I squinted my eyes.

"What do you mean why? Of course Hailey will also be there." Upon my second pronunciation of her name, Hailey gazed on me.

"But she eats a lot. She might eat your food." I gasped a little.

"No she won't. You can't just exclude ber because of a petty reason."

"Ugh, fine." Hailey looked deranged right now. She swiftly grabbed my phone without telling me so.

"You motherfucker I know everything you said." My eyes widened because of her profanity. We were in a public place!

"Hailey, we're in public. Please use your words wisely," I whispered. She just rolled her eyes and gave me back the phone.

"Whatever. Give the phone back to Celine." He meant to say that to Hailey but she already gave me the phone.

"This is not Hailey anymore. By the way, we still have some stores to visit so I should put the call down if we'll be there before seven."

"Okay. Bye, Take care."

"You too. Bye."

"I hate him. I really do." I shook my head exasperatingly at Hailey's remark.

***

"Good. You're both here." Raver greeted us as he opened the door of my condo.

I smiled at him and entered my place. Hailey then rolled her eyes when she went past Raver.

"How's the ride back here?" He asked.

"Traffic jams were all over the road. I didn't even think that we'd arrive here in time," I replied as I removed my shoes and put my slippers on.

"So, what did you cook?" Hailey asked while heading to the kitchen. She opened the pans and looked over Raver who was leaning over the counter, parallel to the burner where the pans were placed.. "Pasta?"

"Yep. I cooked my famous shrimp alfredo pasta."

"You're such an asshole. You know that I'm allergic to shrimp and I'm coming, that's why you cooked that!" Raver chuckled.

"Stay calm Hails. I got you a chicken one in the microwave." Hailey checked the microwave and there was a plate there. Instead of thanking him, Hailey only rolled her eyes. "It's not like I want something bad to happen to Bobby's girl." Raver smirked and Hailey's expression became anxious.

"W-What?" Hailey asked.

"Who's bobby?" Interfered. I wasn't dumb to know know that Raver was pertaining Hailey as "Bobby's girl". But I don't know who Bobby was.

"Raver looked at me and said, "I don't know. Ask Hailey." He then grabbed the plates and filled them up with pasta and sauce. "Have a seat, ladies. I'll serve our dinner shortly."

We did what he asked us to do and when me and Hailey were comfortably seated on our seats, I asked her immediately. "Who's bobby?" She blinked her eyes for a couple more times before answering.

"Uh, I-I don't know," she said and looked away. I knew that something was up but I restrained myself from asking her. She didn't look comfortable saying something about "Bobby".

Raver strutted towards the table while placing our plates on the table. He then grabbed a pitcher of water with glasses.

"This looks good," I told him. I find this very appetizing so the baby probably wanted this. I think I might have to go for a second plate of this pasta. Lately, I had been eating more food than my ideal portion for myself. Everytime I envisioned myself with a bloated tummy and chubby ckeeks made me want to back out from motherhood. "Have a seat, Raver. Let's eat. I'm starving," I added

He chuckled and said, "I have to get the rotisserie first. Hang on for a bit, Cece." I flushed a bit because my eagerness to eat was too obvious. I looked at Hailey's side to ask her about it but she looked lost in her thoughts.

"Are you okay?" I asked her. She was a little startled but she replied terse with "Yes.".

"Here's the chicken." Raver said as he took the chicken out of the oven.

I immediately felt dizzy and nauseous when I smelled the aroma of the chicken. I read in some books that pregnant women sometimes hated certain smells and I think this was the one I hated. The smell of the chicken made me want to barf at that very moment.

I turned my head to Hailey once again and she had the concerned look now.

"What's wrong?" She whispered.

I didn't answer her back and started to do heavy breathing.

As much as possible, I didn't want Raver to see first hand my change of actions as a pregnant woman. He wasn't dumb and I was certain that once he saw me putting up one or two symptoms of pregnancy, he'd know immediately my secret.

But it seemed that the universe didn't agree with me at that very moment because I felt that it was bound to happen.

I tried to prevent myself from vomiting but the chicken is getting nearer to me. I couldn't help it so by the time Raver put the chicken down on the table, I immediately went to the bathroom to vomit.

"Celine!" Hailey followed me to the bathroom and held my hair for me. I did not stop barfing until I gagged out everything that I ate for the whole day.

"What happened? What's wrong?" Raver said as he knocked the door so hard it would've broken.
