2 Fang Hua

Immediately after picking up the child, Old Magi returned to his shack. He wasn't in the mood to visit the town anymore.

"Well! Well! Well! This is a surprise!" he exclaimed as he looked at the child on the table. "What's a child with spiritual energy doing in this remoted place, huh?" The child started to cry which annoyed Old Magi quite a bit. He stood up and searched his shack for any food but came back empty-handed. "Well, this is troublesome. I don't need food to survive, so I never bothered with it...*sigh*" After contemplating for a bit, he rushed outside and started running towards the nearby forest.

He became a blur as he came back in 5 minutes with a dead rabbit in his hands, "This should do!"

After cooking and cutting the meat into small pieces, he started to feed the baby with caution. He doesn't want the baby to choke and die from his first meal. That would be too sad even for this old man, "I never thought I'd be ever doing this in my lifetime," he started chuckling.

After feeding the baby, he picked it up and went outside to a nearby lake, and started bathing the baby and himself, "You smell like an old corpse, you little dog; I'll have to start bathing you regularly."

2 minutes into washing him, and the baby was already releasing his waste into the lake. "You dirty bastard," Old Magi growled.

While washing the baby he thought of something..., What should he name this child? "Hmph. I guess I'll name you Fang Hua," he looked at the child who looked back at him with curiosity. "You better appreciate what I'm doing for you," the baby just kept staring at him.

In the shack, he started repairing the bed that was in shambles. He will let the baby sleep in it as he didn't need sleep to survive either.

After repairing the bed for 5 minutes, he looked back at Fang. Fang was already showing signs of falling asleep. As he revealed a little smile he picked him up and put him on the bed. After that, he went outside to go to the village; he needed to visit miss Mei An's shop to buy some supplies.

10 Minutes later.

"So let me get this straight... You found a baby on the road, and you picked it up, and now you're looking after it..." Mei said as she started swinging her arms left and right, "How are you gonna look after it in your run-down shack, huh?!" she pointed furiously at Old Magi.

"Don't worry about it I can handle! Not the worst thing that happened to me. Just give me the supplies please, Miss Mei," he said with a deadpan face.

She let out a sigh as she spoke: "I can always beat you in chess but definitely not in a conversation."

She shrugged her shoulders as she gave him some meat and some baby food that she usually sold to newlywed couples. Never in a million years did she think that the one buying it would be this old fogie.

She then spoke: "Here you go Old Magi! If you find taking care of the baby hard, then just let me know. I'll arrange for my parents to take care of it. After all, they have nothing else to do at their age." She gave Old Magi a last look before going to the next customer.

Hua went to the local tailor to get some baby clothes for Fang. The baby's tattered clothes were, after all, not gonna be useful when winter comes.

"Ohh Old Magi! I heard you picked up a baby, and are taking care of it eh?" An old man with a huge body and mustache with a long beard started shouting. If he went outside, you could mistake him for a martial-artists. But he was the local tailor, Chao Cheng.

"I guess gossip spreads faster than wind these days. Indeed, I have picked up a child, and am in need of baby clothes. Think you could manage?" he looked at Cheng with a questioning eye.

"Hmph! Of course! I have even made clothes for immortals let alone a baby." He snorted softly, "Just come back in the afternoon. Work is little nowadays with people buying clothes from miss Mei, and not requesting it from my skilled hands! uh!" He looked miserable as he went back to work.

*sigh* "I guess that takes care of that." Hua was in his shack again looking at Fang softly breathing. 'Did I go insane... What am I doing? I should just let Mei know I need her parents assistance-'

Before he could finish his monologue he looked at Fang again, and what welcomed him shocked him senseless as he saw that he was glowing! "Well... I guess I should look after him for a little bit more... hehe..." He started chuckling after picking Fang up. "You bastard, you're full of surprises aren't you?" he said while looking at Fang with a mysterious glare.

"You could make an excellent disciple for this old man!"
