Prologue

A long time ago, a cursed prince fell in love. His curse in question, was that he was destined to die  before he could ever face the title of King-- Ruler of the underworld-- The world of the cold and the dead. The Kingdom of lost souls and the damned.

Hope and warmth radiated from everything she did, the deity of sunlight and warmth, namely, Lucienne. She lived up in the skies, in the world above while he lived in ruins and chaos.

It was the simplest things such as her smile, her voice and her lovely, long, caramel-blonde hair, that he couldn't get off his mind. She was also kind and compassionate beyond compare.

However... unlike her, he was cold and cruel, always casting himself out from the world he knew. Him and his raven hair with a dark, green glow in his haunted eyes. If only he could've been just like her

-The opposite of what he always was.

The problem lay where he was meant to take his last breath soon and he could do nothing about, while Lucienne would live on forever.

In pure desperation and heartache, he cried out to the skies, "If only I could be with Lucienne forever.'

Although, mother nature, the goddess of the living and the growth couldn't be reasoned with. Since everything "happens for a purpose."

He hated it whenever people said that.

No matter how true it may be.

One day, a goddess of love cried "Yes," from above the skies.

"One can not let such a love go by!""

Thereof, when the prince thought he had met his fate at a companion's sword, and his last breath drew, his body broke up into ashes as black as night. It was carried by the wind of the west, decorating the sky full of colours of the setting sun as the deity of light mourned.

Mother Nature did her job. Although, death had always been more cruel than her. The prince, however, didn't make his wish in vain...

The balance of nature wobbled unevenly and nature rampages occurred. The land broke into separate parts like cracked glass. Then the land, Querencia was born. Rivers rushed harsher and waterfalls were flipped upside down - finally binding the upper world, the land, and the underworld in unity.

The prince's ashes turned into shapes of tears like seeds that landed in soil.

Mother Nature cried and the clouds became heavy. The soil was made wet with rain and with the help of the love goddess's familiar, Enzo, Lucienne was guided to where she was to set the sun on the east side of the world where the seeds had been blown to by die wind.

The seeds grew and from it, flowers bloomed.

The petals were as golden as the rays of Lucienne 's devine powers. The stems and leaves were as green as his eyes while the brown centre of seeds would forever symbolise the land and nature that kept the two lovers apart.

This flower became known as a Sunflower due to the prince's wish. He was now the deity's equal and just as vibrant and lively as her. They were bound together for the rest of eternity.

Once she was his sun and he was her moon, but that changed on the condition that whenever his petals will fall, so will his seeds so that the prince will keep growing over and over again. Looking up at her as she looks down at him.

As the sun would move east to set each day, his head will bow down for his love, awaiting, in sweet despair, for his goddess to rise again.

Forever and always,

The sunflower and his sunlight.
