1 PROLOGUE

Legend has it that wishing upon a star makes the wish come true. When you wish upon a star, it makes no difference who you are, anything your heart desires will come to you. It was said that the first star that shines in the night sky each evening possesses special magic. Setting your gaze on the first star that appears after dark and making a wish is enough to win your heart's desire. Superstition has it that simply spotting shooting stars can bring you good luck. Some says that 11:11 is supposed to be a time when the universe is listening to you. When you see this number or the time based on it, 11:11, this is a sign that things are about to get real.

Deen knows a lot of superstitions but never believes in them, heard a lot of people talk about them and the wonders it creates but still thinks of them as irrelevant, why believe in something that has no proof of really happening? She also knows the danger lurking in the dark but never bothered to be cautious, especially when she wants to get some things off her mind and start to trek the city mindlessly. She loves the night, especially when everything quiets down and she can be loud, she loves how the keys of her piano sounded in her empty apartment during those times. The night seems to be different this time, instead of her music, her mind seems to be the loudest at the moment. She started by sipping but as the night progresses, she takes large gulps of drink after drink until her guilt screams at her to stop, but that's why she drinks her miseries away, the guilt makes her feel something, it reminds her that she's still alive. Maybe it's the alcohol that's still buzzing in her head or maybe the desperation to get out of her apartment and breathe some fresh air when she spotted the clock that reads 11:11 and decided to get her coat and get out.

She walked mindlessly while trying hard not to stumble in the streets, she starts to shiver but never bother to go back in her apartment. It was when she reached a playground when she became conscious of her surrounding, it was when she sat down in a swing when she finally realized how tired she is, it was when she noticed the moonlight that she looked at the sky, the night might be quiet but her mind isn't. The clock strikes at 1:50 am when she starts to move the swing, 1:55 am when she starts to hum to herself and watch the stars, 1:59 am when she became desperate to have a breather in her life, 2:00 am when she closes her eyes and wished for something she never imagined herself to be wishing. Deen never believed in superstitions per se, but at that time, she dared herself to hope, she dared to wish and to dream for something she knows she can never have and when a single drop of tear escaped her eyes, another follows then another until a sob follows and maybe just maybe someone has heard her pleas.

A dying star stood at the gate of the valley of stars, the gate was half opened just for him in a specific day and time "one of the perks of being the gate keeper's favorite" his brother once said, everyone knows that's not true but maybe centuries of great friendship does give him the freedom to ask anything for free. Beside him stands Argo the judge and Pyxis the gate keeper when he heard a plea. His companions seems to not hear anything as Pyxis starts to point things he found interesting, maybe they're bored or maybe curious when Argo amused them by opening the gate fully and letting some of the stars fall down the earth and fullfil their purposes, wishes upon wishes were heard but only one stood out at the dying star's ears. He heard the plea again but louder this time, a clear image of someone in a swing appeared in his vision, having lived centuries makes a star numb and immune to sympathy but this one particular human made him feel something he thought he will never have. He may be stared a long time because Pyxis nudges him and pointed the girl "The stars can't make her wish happen if she won't look." he said. Argo stared at the dying star when realization crossed his eyes, "Have you heard her?"

Stars falls when they grant people their wishes, they become lucky stars when they decided to fall down the earth on their own, but the dying star is special. He grants wishes without falling, he rewards luck to those people who he thinks who deserve it, in exchange, his life span lessens. He is special and so the wishes he grants are special, but everytime he does, he loses his essence and so Argo decided to give him a gift, a one wish for a dying wishing star.

"I'll grant her my last wish." The dying star stated. "This will be your last one, are you sure you want to be her star?" Argo held his shoulders as Pyxis closed the gates behind them. "I want my last one to be something that I have never granted before, this might be the most simple wish compared to the past wishes I have granted but I heard her plea, I felt her anguish, maybe it's time to give her a chance."

"Very well then. Our friendship has finally reached its end, see you again when Fate permits." Pyxis stood near Argo when the dying star went at the edge of the valley, giving his silent goodbyes.

The dying star looked around him to say his goodbye in the place he calls home. Some of the stars shined brighter to say their goodbyes to him, he looked up when he felt his brother's phantom touch, the younger star shined so bright that made him smile to himself and promised to watch the younger wherever he may be, his brother promises the same thing. With a last glance around him, he faced Argo and Pyxis and smiled for the last time. He closes his eyes and suddenly, he turned into dust.

People on earth called it a mystery, a supernatural event. The night is full of stars, the moon shined so bright but the clouds suddenly covered the sky and the rain starts to pour. People might think that it is a supernatural event but no one has stopped and thought about the wish granted and the wish recieved as the the sun rises after the darkest time of the day.
