Year 1940

In the cold night, I sitting alone in the forest while staring into the sky.

I am just a commoner that live with my foster parents in the woods.

During the war, there are many children lost their parents, including me. It's a very cruel world. People struggle to survive. We can't blame anyone for this lose.

But I'm grateful I given the chance to stay live in this rural village.

When a stranger come in armor to them, they force them to become their soldier. They threatened them with their life or family. The peace of living in the nature is taken by them to fulfill their greed.

I hate it when someone force us to do something that we are not willing to. They do not suffer from the loss but the gain will be enjoy only for them.

That is how the world is treated.

My name is Han Suk. A teenager that living with my foster parents after the war end.

My abusive parents only taugh me how to live independently.

One day, a soldier rush to our village. I was at that time, hunting in the forest to find some animal.

When I come back home, the place was already raid by them. I immediately try to find my parents while attack the soldier.

Many dead body on the ground as they all might have refused to cooperate.

There are many loud scream and tears make my voice unheard.

Me: Papa! Mama! Where are you?

I avoid an arrow that fly towards me from behind. I take that arrow and shoot the archer back. I move quickly to find them.

I see a dead body that looks like them lying on the ground.

Thankfully, I mistook for someone else.

I grab the soldier's sword and slice their throat like animal. That instantly kill them.

Suddenly, someone approach from behind and take me hiding behind a wood house.

Me: Papa!

Papa: Shush! What are you doing here?

Me: Where is Mama?

Papa: She is dead. They kill her already.

My eyes can't stop the sad feeling in my heart.

Papa: Don't cry! Remember, you are a man. There is no use to cry now.

I hold my tears and look in his eyes.

Me: Papa, let's get out from here. I will bring you to a safe place.

Papa: I don't want. You have to run by yourself.

I noticed there is a blood on his leg.

Me: Let me treat that first.

Papa: There is no time for that! They will kill us right now.

Me: But.. I don't want to leave you. Please papa.

Papa: Listen here brat. Don't act like a lovely son. I told you don't treat me like your father.

Even he said so, how would I feel like that towards him. He is the one raised me till I grow up. Despite love they cannot give to me as their child, I still love them like my real parents.

Me: That's because you are my father!

Papa: I told you I'm not your father!

Me: I know! But I still want to think you like one. It's my choice.

Papa: I don't care what you think. Now, I want you to go to the place where we used to go. The big lake.

Me: What about you?

Papa: I will follow behind you.

Me: Alright, promise me you will come to me.

Papa: There is no time for that!

Me: I will waiting for you.

I run outside and make a noise for them to chase me.

I run with all might to lose them. This forest is my home. I'm an expert about this place.

A several soldier come at me with a sword. Luckily, I bring one with me. I had to kill all of them and got a several wound after that.

I slowly move to the big lake that he asked me to go.

I take a time to treat my wound with medicine I got in my pocket.

After that, I rip apart my cloth to use it as a bandage and tie it on my leg.

Me: Please, where are you? It is already night.

Getting tired of waiting, I decided to go back at my village. As soon I reach there, there are fire camp there. The soldiers are resting after the fight.

Soldier 1: There are 3 soldiers found in the woods.

Captain: Have you kill all of them.

Soldier 1: Yes sir.

Luckily, there is another villagers dead body and they might think the soldiers kill the one run in the forest.

Soon, I look at them take the dead body and burn them in the fire.

I hold my tears and anger for their absurd action.

That's unacceptable. They all like a friends to me.

Me: (Why? They all are nice and kind. They never did something wrong. Why they have to die like this?!)

Suddenly, I saw my father was dragging in front of the captain. He is the chief village and also my father.

Captain: Is this all your family?

Papa: I don't give a shit!

Captain: Come on. I will spare your live if you honest with me. Is this all the people in your village?

Papa: I'm sorry. I'm too old to remember all of them.

Captain: Crazy old man!

He swing a sword to cut his throat swiftly without mercy.

I can't bear to witness all of that and close my eyes.

I bite my lip till bleed to hold my anger. I just want to kill all of them right now.

Me: (That man! I promise I will kill you!)
