1 Deal With The Devil

I've been in pain all my life. I was constantly allowing people to make fun of me and belittle me.

There was a saying my mother told me when I was little. This has never crossed my mind.

"If you give up, what you do will never make sense."

Sorry mom, I can't take this anymore.

I was thinking about this as I stood on the edge of a roof at an altitude where the cool wind could be felt. I just remember the times when my mom was taking care of me.

The lights of the city were clearly visible from here.

Horns and police sirens echoing from below could be heard very easily.

I specifically chose today. Otherwise I wasn't brave enough to plan this kind of stupidity.

The only reason I do all this is to get rid of all the people who see me as nothing. It disgusts me to live with such people anymore.

I closed my eyes and lifted my head to the sky, the force of the wind blowing was quite strong. After I spread my arms to both sides and allowed a few tears to flow from my eyes, I let myself fall from the roof with the wind.

As I continued to float in the air, the feeling of the wind on my face took me back to my childhood.

I felt free when my father carried me on his shoulder.

Mom, dad. I will come to you soon.

A small smile formed on my face as I continued to fall. I had no regrets for what I had done.

Finally, when the time came when I couldn't feel the wind, I knew I was dead. When I opened my eyes, I saw that I was in a shocking environment.

There were elevations formed by placing more than ten skulls on top of each other. Many skulls were dripping with blood-like fluids. The intense smell of the environment resembled the corpses of more than a hundred decomposed animals.

I had a hard time keeping myself from vomiting.

"Finally someone dared to come here!" A thick and powerful voice echoed in the environment I was in.

While I was covering my mouth and nose with my right hand so as not to vomit, I was checking my surroundings in shock at the sound I heard. I could feel the sweat running down my forehead.

"Why are you so worried?" He asked while grinning, the one with a strong and deep voice. When I realized that the sound was coming from the right side, I quickly turned my head in that direction.

When I lifted my head, I noticed a being standing on top of their skulls.

Its size was so large that the height formed by the skulls was over fifteen meters. But, despite this height, I could see the presence there in a very big way.

"I-I..." Before I could even finish my sentence, he interrupted me and continued speaking.

"You are the first of the mortals to come here. According to the procedure, I have to send you to the other side. But, I don't care about the procedures!" He continued his speech as he seemed to be struggling not to laugh.

"But I don't know how it got here. That's why we're going to make a different deal with you." He got up from between the skulls he was sitting on and took a step and started to down. In a matter of seconds, it was completely near me.

The closer I got, the better I realized how tall and huge he was. He had red skin and his eyes were radiating yellow flames. It had a brown horn growing from either side of its head. Behind the horns were smaller horns.

"What are you looking at so surprised?" He asked, while crouching.

"W-Well, who are you exactly?" Finally, I was able to ask a question I wanted to ask.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" He began to laugh with a voice so strong that it shook the earth and the sky.

"Indeed, a mortal dare to ask who I am. Well then, let me introduce you to who I am." As he slowly walked away from me, he continued his speech again.

"I am the Lord of Demons." He said, in a serious tone.

O-One w-what?

At first I thought it was a joke. But, that smell that almost made me vomit, and a really big body was too big to be a costume, and it was realistic.

"Then, what will happen now?" I could do nothing but just keep asking.

The entity that introduced itself as the Lord of Demons folded its arms as it stared intently at one point.

"Alan Gonzales?" I was surprised when I heard my name. He said my name just by looking at one point, without any sources or documents.

"Y-Yes?" I replied stuttering.

With his back still turned to me, all I could feel was intense deadly pressure. The pressure was so strong it made me fall to my knees.

"Well, now I have decided to make more deals with you!" His flaming eyes were almost the size of my head as he suddenly appeared in my line of sight. Without delay, he continued his speech.

"You've had a really tough life. No mortal has ever treated you well. If you accept the deal, I'll make sure you wake up in a place you'll never regret. I will make you a strong person." I could feel his evil smile right in front of my nose.

Not only did he know my name, he even learned all my bad life in one fell swoop. Where did I really land?

"W-Well, w-what am I supposed to do?" I was able to ask my question while continuing to stutter, a little worried and a little afraid.

"HAHAHAHA~ Good, good. Just all you have to do. You surrender your body to me." As he finished his sentence, my eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

To surrender my body?

How can I do such a thing?

No, no…

After all, I'm dead now, right?

What can he do with my body?

There was silence for only a few minutes. In these few minutes, I had a chance to think long and hard. Surprisingly, he didn't speak before I said my answer. He just had a scary grin on his face.

"I agree, but I have one cond..." He cut me off before I could even finish my sentence.

"Well then, good luck with your new life. Maybe one day we will meet again…" The area we were in suddenly became dark as the being known as the lord of demons snapped his finger.

*snap*

The sound of finger snapping continued to echo for a while longer.

I took a deep breath and tried to relax. The last thing he said was 'Good luck in your new life'. What does that mean?

After a moment of silence, muffled voices began to echo.

"...."

"...…"

"Hey, Hey… Kaneki, are you okay?" My field of vision suddenly brightened. Sitting in front of me was a blond boy with a confused expression.
