The Patients

- At Hospital Hope -

"Ms. Líne, Please report to the lobby."

At the time, Idalia was sleeping in her office when they called for her 10 times. She was laying down under her desk hearing music.

Although sleeping at work hours was against the rules in a hospital. Idalia always thoughy, why have a hospital, since magic was everywhere.

Almost nobody came to the place she work at.

She would at least see 5 patients a day and those patients always came with stupidest excuses to be there. She was completely tired out by them each day, just because they were all curious how healing powers worked. This always gave her headaches, so when no one came to her office she would hide under her desk and listen to relaxing music.

This was one of her horrible habits and when she didn't answer the 10 calls. The doctors and nurses began to panic outside in the lobby. None of them knew what to do, because the scene in front of them was something they couldn't understand.

One of the doctors looked at the two badly injured bodies in the lobby and thought to himself, "At this point we can't afford to wait for Idalia. One of them might die since they're mortal."

He looked up at the rest and gave them simple instruction. "One of the nurses will go look for Ms. Líne and the others will try to maintain the man that is losing so much blood alive and the one with wounds slowly healing keep an eye on him."

Everyone in the lobby stopped panicking and began to do what they were instructed to do. One of the nurses quickly went to check inside Idalia's office first to find her. The doctors check the blood type of the mortal and began running around the lobby picking up equipment to maintain him alive.

Once they made sure the mortal was still alive and stable. Some of doctors took turns, watching over the other patient. Not many wanted to do this job because the sight was disgusting to them. The body of the man looked like rag doll that has be cut open with its cotton poping out. Only that instead of cotton it was flesh not a very pleasant sight to look at. Some were able to stand the sight of him because they were quite curious as to how he was badly injured and wasn't bleeding as much. Immortals were really impressive beings.

The nurse looking for Idalia came to her office and looked around. She stopped when she looked underneath Idalia's desk and almost had a fright when she saw Idalia's body. The nurse really didn't question the fact why she was there, all she was thinking about was the two males out there badly injured at the lobby. So she quickly crouch down to wake up Idalia.

Once Idalia was awake, the nurse gave her a brief summary of what was going on at the lobby. Idalia quickly understood and sat up to stand and began to walk towards the room were the mortal was being treated.

Once all the doctors saw Idalia enter the room, they were all so happy that nobody question the fact of why she didn't answer the 10 calls. Idalia simply looked at the patient and signed "Did you call all the other healers to heal the minor wounds?"

The man that had given the other, orders said "We have, we ask them to clean the wounds and heal the ones they were able to heal and the rest of us stitch the bigger injuries to stop the bleeding."

Idalia simply nodded, satisfied within his response and signed "What about the immortal?"

The doctor responded saying, "He had major injuries but with his current state we put him aside and worked on the mortal's injuries the most. From time to time we had someone clean the wounds and stitch some of the major wounds and let the immortal heal the minor wounds."

Idalia sign: "Do you know there identity?"

The doctor simply responded with one word, "No"

Idalia understood the situation and signed them if she can see the patients wounds. They agree to her request and after inspecting the wounds. She began to heal the wounds that were stitch together. She didn't heal them completely, as she knew the troubles they would go through if she did. She just heal them till the skin was slightly attached together. Then she instructed the doctors to not removed the stitches.

Once she was done healing the patient's wounds. She looked at the patient's face and was surprise. The patient was, Lan?

Thats when a thought came to her, if Lan was here then that had to mean the badly injured man, next to Lan's room was...Prince Whittaker. She knew him very well to know that Whittaker would never let anything bad happen to his childhood friend, Lan. That was the reason why Lan wasn't in critical state but Whittaker was, he entire body was badly injured. Make it hard to tell if it was him. What happen?

At this thought Idalia, immediately went to the room to the right next to Lan's room. When she open the door, the man inside was already up and he looked blankly at the ceiling and asked "Is Lan okay?"

Idalia just looked at him for a while before walking towards one of the drawers in the room and took out a small white board and marker. She then turned around and wrote, "He's fine. He'll live for a couple of more decades." Then she handed the white broad to Whittaker.

When Whittaker saw what was written on the broad, he sigh in relief. Then he exclaimed "Why aren't you speaking?!"

Idalia, who has been playing at this game with him by making him believe she can speak, grab the broad from him and wrote. "I am not in the same level as you Prince Whittaker. I can't simply bring myself to speak loudly to royalty." She passed him the broad and smile.

Whittaker, clearly unsatisfied with her response looked at the broad for a while. Then he turned around and looked at her with a serious face and said "Aren't you one of the best healers at this Hospital? If you are, then did you know that healers are technically consider royalty too?"

Idalia was a bit amused and then reach for the broad on Whittaker laps. She never expected him to grab the broad and move it away from her reach, because he never acted this way before. She was a bit frustrated by his action but couldn't express it with her voice. So she looked at him a bit upset. Whittaker just looked at her with a guarded expression.

Idalia looked at him so amused for a while, before once again trying to reach for the broad. Instead of Whittaker moving the broad farther away from her reach. He reacted fast with such reflexes and grab a hold of her. He hold her so close to his face. Idalia began to sweat, as her face turn red. He looked at her in the eye and said, "Idalia, I am beginning to grow tired of this game of yours. I just want to hear you voice ag...I mean, I just want to know how your voice sounds. It's making me curious, the more you don't speak the more I wonder if you sound like a dying rat."

Idalia looked at him with anger in her eyes, completely forgetting the sentence she was going to ask about. Ag? Something.

Whittaker seeing that she was so stubborn to not respond, he just gave her the broad and said "Idalia, if I were to died tomorrow. How would you react to my death?"
