88 Moving the pieces of the board

September 16.

Kanaru spent the day exercising at his school. His performance was average at first, but then he had to try a little harder due to the constant scolding from the demonic instructor, Yomikawa.

Kamijou Touma also didn't attend training, but that didn't matter much to him. Kanaru's main goal in studying at this school was to get an identity for his future. Besides, they were practically neighbors.

He also noticed something strange in some people:

Fukiyose constantly talked to him about the importance of this school getting a good grade at the festival. He concluded that this was because she wanted him to use his original ability in competitions.

Then there was a young girl with long black hair with a somewhat expressionless look who constantly stared at the cross that Kanaru had on his neck. He realized that she had a similar one. He saw this young girl in Index's memories, her name was Himegami Aisa. His memories he had of her were hazy.

Kanaru also met a blond-haired young man who wore sunglasses. Even though that young man spoke to Kanaru normally, he noticed that this guy held a grudge against him for some reason.

At the end of the training, that blond guy who introduced himself to Kanaru as Tsuchimikado Motoharu and he called him to escort him to a place.

Kanaru rejected him and he left the school when the training ended.

What Tsuchimikado didn't know is that now a small insect would follow him from now on.

In the afternoon Rika sent a message to his cell phone saying that Michael's Church, a relatively well-known organization of magicians had sent some of their members to Academy City.

'She even found out the name of the organization, she does her job well...'

'So, Sara's organization is here... I'll have to kill two birds with one stone.'

Kanaru pondered.

SCHOOL-Lair 4-District 7-Night.

Kanaru was dressed in a elegant white suit and he was sitting across from a dirty blonde-haired young man in a luxurious living room.

In front of them was a table and on it was a small metal box with an artifact inside.

When the dirty blond-haired young man took the device from the briefcase, he immediately understood its purpose, it was something indispensable for him.

"You... how did you get this?" The blond-haired young man asked. He was very surprised.

Kanaru shook his head.

"I designed it myself a few hours ago." Kanaru said. He kept talking.

"I just call it 'locator'. I know because of your Dark Matter ability you know about those damn nanobot insects that are scattered all over Academy City, those insects are not made by me and you know it. This will help you find them and it also creates a static field around you that prevents these insects from continuing to observe you." Kanaru explained.

Kakine was wearing apparently normal glasses.

Thanks to those glasses he saw how numerous arrows pointed towards the walls of the living room. Those arrows indicated that the targets were outside the living room.

In addition, thanks to those glasses, he could see various microorganisms in the environment.

"Those insects are incapable of being around me." Kanaru said.

Thanks to those glasses Kakine saw how Kanaru was emitting an electromagnetic field around him.

"Electromaster. Unlike Railgun you can hide an electromagnetic field of that level, huh." Kakine muttered.

"This doesn't harm living beings." Kanaru added.

"What do you want? I don't think you're altruistic with me." Kakine said suddenly. He was sure that Kanaru would not give this to him for free.

"I just came from talking to Mugino. She is afraid of me so I just needed a few words to convince her to do something. As of today, ITEM doesn't exist. ITEM core members will join SCHOOL and follow your orders." Kanaru said with a calm tone.

Kakine frowned.

"And I'll follow your orders, huh." Kakine said.

"Exactly. I'll also take care of the financing of SCHOOL, those glasses are a sign of my good will." Kanaru said.

Kakine took off his glasses and looked directly at him.

"Was it so easy to dissolve ITEM? After all, they follow the orders of the top executives of the city." Kakine said.

"Fear makes people change their minds easily and I know very well how to despair people with that emotion. Mugino was the one who agreed to dissolve the organization after we had a little talk. Obviously, she'll have difficulties, but if she follows your orders, you should help her a little." Kanaru said as he got up from the chair.

"Then? Will you follow my orders or do you want to have a little chat with me?" Kanaru asked casually.

Kakine got up from the chair too.

Suddenly 6 white wings appeared on his back.

"It seems that you have great confidence since you defeated Accelerator and forgot that all your power originated thanks to my ability."

Kanaru frowned.

"Then we'll have a little, a very little chat."

Half a minute later.

"I admit that you were wise to take your girlfriend away from this place. Anyway, my contact number remains the same. Mugino and her team will be coming here in a few days. I'll give you your first mission very soon. And please, stop changing lairs, I'll always find you anyway." Kanaru said.

He disappeared in a white flash shortly after saying that.

Kakine was lying on the ground constantly coughing up blood.

There was a wound on his stomach.

The wound seemed to have been caused by a blow and that wound had traces of a dark substance inside of it.
