As Gu Qingcheng woke up, she could see that it was broad daylight outside the bedroom window. She stretched as usual and was surprised as her body ached a bit and felt sore. Gu Qingcheng frowned, sat up, and then saw the tall figure looming behind the shower door in the adjoining bathroom. As well as the view, there came the soft sound of running water.

Gu Qingcheng was stunned for about two seconds before she suddenly recalled images of a wild, passionate night with Tang Shi. Gu Qingcheng blushed, subconsciously covered herself with the blanket, and lowered her head shyly.

She and Tang Shi had known each other since childhood. They had always been close and now had finally shared a night. He would probably do the responsible thing and ask her to be his wife.

A hint of excitement appeared on Gu Qingcheng's face at that thought.

About ten minutes later, Tang Shi walked out of the bathroom, dressed immaculately. Although Gu Qingcheng had known him for almost 20 years, she was still beguiled by this eye-catching man before her. His deep-set eyes, soft lips, and perfect profile were now paired with a simple white shirt, giving him an awesome look seemingly without effort.

Gu Qingcheng's hand that held the blanket tightened. A faint smile crossed her beautiful face as she murmured softly, "Tang Shi..."

Tang Shi remained expressionless as he slowly walked toward the bed that Gu Qingcheng was still gracefully sitting in. He didn't so much as glance at her. Tang Shi walked over to the closet and took out his suit jacket. He then took his time before the standing mirror putting on his jacket and arranging it just right.

Everything had been so perfect between the two of them the night before. "Why was he acting so cold toward her now, especially after such a lustful night?" Gu Qingcheng frowned to herself, but she still kept a smile on her face as she attempted again to start a conversation. "Tang Shi, last night..."

Gu Qingcheng stopped as soon as those two words had come out of her mouth. Although what she wanted was really to be married to him, she didn't know how to begin talking to him after what had happened last night.

Tang Shi still had his back toward Gu Qingcheng. Upon hearing her say "last night," he paused momentarily. But a couple of seconds after, he acted as if nothing had happened and slowly buttoned up his suit. Finally, he turned slowly around and met Gu Qingcheng's eyes.

He didn't speak. His face remained expressionless, and he appeared to be calm and relaxed. However, his body seemed to be throbbing with an intense energy. This was causing an overwhelming sense of nervousness and insecurity in Gu Qingcheng's heart.

Gu Qingcheng swallowed hard and asked in an understanding tone, "Tang Shi, do you have to go to work so soon?"

This time, before Gu Qingcheng could even finish speaking, Tang Shi interrupted her. His voice was gorgeous and firm, his tone indifferent. The only thing that he was responding to was Gu Qingcheng's previous words, "Last night? What about last night?"

"What did he mean by what about last night?" They had spent the night having sex together. Gu Qingcheng's lips opened slightly, and she gaped at this well-dressed, handsome Tang Shi, unable to decipher the meaning behind his words.

Tang Shi took two steps forward and reached out his hand and lifted Gu Qingcheng's chin. He leaned over so that his face was close to hers and said, "Though it was obviously your first time and you were timid and not so pleasing, I still quite enjoyed it..." Tang Shi paused and then added, "However, I'm only talking about you in bed last night."
